Justice for Raymond Mattia, Tohono O'odham, Murdered by U.S. Border Patrol Agents on the Front Steps of His Home on the Tohono O'odham Nation. The Press Conference will be at the Tucson Federal Courthouse, on November 17, 2023, 10 a.m.

November 17, 2023

Mr. Mattia's five siblings and two children submitted a written demand to CBP relating to Mr. Mattia's wrongful death on May 19, 2023. The edited body camera footage shows Mr. Mattia calmly interacting with agents in front of his home and complying with their demands. The agents ordered Mr. Mattia to take his hand out of his pocket and he complied, and the agents wrongfully fired a volley of over three dozen shots – striking Mr. Mattia nine times and killing him in his front yard. The body camera footage plainly shows that Mr. Mattia posed no threat to the agents and there was no justification to shoot, much less shoot over three dozen rounds.

Mr. Mattia's death is a tragedy that harmed his family and community greatly, and his family plans to hold CBP accountable for the outrageous killing of their beloved family member.

WHAT/WHO: Press Conference / Attorneys Timothy A. Scott and Ryan W. Stitt along with members of Mr. Mattia's family.

Justice Department Refuses to Prosecute US Border Patrol Agents Who Murdered Raymond Mattia

In a devastating cover-up, and denial of justice, the federal prosecutors in Arizona said they will not prosecute the Tohono O'odham police and US Border Patrol agents who murdered Raymond Mattia, Tohono O'odham, on the front steps of his home. Raymond was shot nine times in a hail of bullets. Earlier, Raymond had videotaped the local US Border Patrol agents running drugs through his community. When he submitted the evidence to authorities, the video evidence disappeared. The Intercept reports today on the refusal by the US Attorney's Office in Arizona to carry out justice. -- Censored News. Read more at The Intercept on the failure of prosecutors:

STATEMENT FROM MATTIA FAMILY, May 2023

We have been trying to find the strength to write this statement. This tragedy is so grievous because it is apparent what had happened. Raymond called for help and, in turn, was shot down at his doorstep. Raymond's rights were violated by the authorities whom we trust to protect our Nation. Improper and unprofessional actions of the agencies involved were witnessed by family members present near the crime scene. Loved ones sat in agony, not knowing of Raymond's condition until they were told that he had passed hours later. Raymond lay in front of his home for seven hours before a coroner from Tucson arrived.

In our eyes and hearts, we believe that Raymond was approached with excessive and deadly force that took his life. He was a father, brother, uncle, friend, and an involved community member. Raymond always fought for what was right, and he will continue to fight even after his death. This is not an isolated incident, but it should bring awareness of the oppression our people live through.

Tohono O'odham Ofelia Rivas: Legacy of Death in Palestine and by US Border Patrol Agents in U.S.

By Ofelia Rivas, Tohono O'odham, Censored News, November 15, 2023

How many more innocent people will die at the hands of the United States government in Palestine and on Tohono Oodham Nation lands.

The US Border Patrol armed military on Oodham lands has attempted to erase the Oodham culture by destroying sacred places including burial places, ancient communities and places of great cultural significance.

The sacred places are dug up, ancient properties stolen, hills and mountains and waterways altered greatly impacting communities. How many O'odham have died at the actions of the United States armed border patrols, they continue to destroy evidence of their inhumane actions and continue to cover up their actions with threatening weapons and surveillance of the O'odham.

How many more O'odham and people crossing the lands will die at their hands. The United States government levels of corrupt and discriminating system has condoned and supports these horrendous actions by their no justice for innocent people legacy.

The United States government system supports racial discrimination, supporting the  Border Patrol killings, rape and molestation, and inhumane treatment of the innocent.

Stop the death of innocent people, support Justice for Raymond Mattia.

Who built Thebes of the 7 gates? In the books you will read
the names of kings. Did the kings haul up the lumps of rock?
And Babylon, many times demolished, who raised it up so many times?
In what houses of gold-glittering Lima did its builders live? Where,
the evening that the Great Wall of China was finished, did the masons go? Great Rome is full of triumphal arches. Who erected them?

United States' Complicity and Failure to Prevent the Israeli Government's Unfolding Genocide of Palestinians

The Center for Constitutional Rights filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of Palestinian human rights organizations and Palestinians in Gaza and the U.S. Plaintiffs are suing President Biden, Secretary of State Blinken, and Defense Secretary Austin for their failure to prevent and complicity in the Israeli government’s unfolding genocide against them, their families, and the 2.2 million Palestinians in Gaza.

The lawsuit is accompanied by a preliminary injunction motion, which seeks an emergency order to prohibit any further U.S. military and diplomatic support to the Israeli government while the case is being considered.

The Israeli government is committing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza with unconditional U.S. support.

Genocide is the gravest of crimes under international law. As defined by the International Genocide Convention (1948), genocide refers to specific actions – such as killing or deliberately inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about the destruction of a group in whole or in part – taken with the intention of destroying, in whole or in part, the group targeted, including on ethnic or national grounds.

Numerous Israeli government leaders have expressed clear genocidal intentions and deployed dehumanizing characterizations of Palestinians, including “human animals.” At the same time, the Israeli military has bombed civilian areas and infrastructure, including by using chemical weapons, and deprived Palestinians of everything necessary for human life, including water, food, electricity, fuel, and medicine. Those statements of intent – when combined with mass killing, causing serious bodily and mental harm, and the total siege and closure creating conditions of life to bring about the physical destruction of the group – reveal evidence of an unfolding crime of genocide.
