Seems pretty clear that Brown should be at least on the same level of Tatum in games like this, no reason why Tatum should be taking so many shots when he's got Jaylen right there.

I'm with you, I actually looked forward to the days where JVG would commentate, but that was 10 years ago. At this point it seems like he just wants to bitch about anything and everything.

[Neubeck] Embiid voices displeasure with timing of MVP ceremony: “All this attention can be a distraction. I just feel like this type of stuff can happen in another time. You got that whole week between the regular season and the playoffs, right before the playoffs you can do something like that.” by iksnet in nba

Everyone in here offering ideas of when the awards should be given out...like, come on. If the MVP can't make it to the 2nd round, or gets so affected by it that it gets in their head for a game, that's on them. If anything it makes it more interesting, see if they can handle the pressure or not.

[Barnwell] “With Kerr playing reduced minutes in POR as a 36-year-old during the 01-02 campaign, he found himself struggling to stay loose for meaningful shooting opportunities. Kerr told Chip Engelland about his problem & the shooting expert flew up & offered a solution: a 30-min, 7-shot workout” by SubtleStatement in nba

Repeat six more times and you’ve got the league’s most unlikely — and simultaneously most logical — shooting workout.

Uhh, weird wording. I'm not sure how it's the most logical shooting workout, but alright.

Yeah I agree, the only name that seemed suspect is Kobe for sure. Is this a recency bias thing? Might as well but T Mac on there, too. Feels like Harden could score more efficiently and in higher numbers than Kobe. Different pace of the game, sure, but even iso Harden has his number I think.

[Charania] Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid has won the 2022-23 NBA MVP award. by curryybacon in nba

[–]dorkaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very happy with this outcome, as now next year's MVP won't have nearly as much drama attached. Sure every year there's some, but this had Joker potential 3 peat, plus potential another Embiid snub year. If Joker had won, next year would be "A FOUR PEAT SHOULDN'T BE POSSIBLE" vs "Embiid definitely, absolutely deserves one by now!"

Thank fuck as far as I'm concerned.

[Media] ESPN analysts talking about James Harden's chances of "carrying" the Sixers without Embiid pregame by bradleynana in nba

[–]dorkaxe 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Analysts are really dumb with the way they don't leave room to backtrack. This over-the-top reaction can only serve to make you look like a fucking idiot if you're wrong, or make you look like an asshole if you're correct.

Maybe you missed my edit, but yes, I agree, I saw the fan angle and the chair wasn't even close to in his way.

Yeah, def worse than I thought, but still not as bad as the initial assumption from the headline/article text made it seem. I stand corrected, though, that's pretty dangerous and the chair wasn't in his way at all.

Dog, did you watch the video? Calm down and understand it's still not a cool thing to do, but he is young, was in the heat of the moment, and clearly wanted to rush back to the locker room. A mistake, sure, but not anything close to intentional assault or something.

[Tim MacMahon] "The biggest mistake I've made about Ja's career is when I compared him to Damian Lillard as a leader. Ja is not that. He's not a grown up yet. He's a front-runner right now. He's not accountable. He's got to look into the mirror and ask himself who am I?" by LonzoBBBall in nba

[–]dorkaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super not a fan of this stuff. There's drama between players/teams/etc which is fine, but analysts speaking down to athletes about being a leader or not, being a good teammate or not, being a good person or not...ehh feels a bit weird.

[–]dorkaxe 65 points66 points  (0 children)

If you watch the video, it's not nearly as bad as this article headline implies. He basically moved a chair out of his way as he was running back to the tunnel after the missed shot, maybe it grazed someone? Definitely not the imagery that was in my mind when reading "swung a steel chair at someone's back", like, fuck, I was thinking of a WWE chair shot.

Edit: After seeing the fan video showing it at a different angle, it's worse than I thought. The chair definitely wasn't in his way, he grabbed it needlessly and recklessly flailed it. Not great.

Jamal Murray 5-9 from 3 and ANT 0-6. dang, sometimes it just be like that. Wish ANT would have hit that last 3, so fricking close. A healthy Jokic and Murray together is nuts, they're both so good.
