HR are the reasons why people leave the company.

69-is-my-number
commented

This is nonsense. It’s already well established that the main reasons people leave is due either to a fractured relationship with their supervisor, or an inability to have some form of influence or control over their job role or job demands. The fact that HR are often involved at the immediate end of the employment wasn’t the original cause of them leaving.

The 20 fastest EVER women's 1500m times

He’s an absolute freak of nature. Pitches were far less predictable then than they are now, and the protective gear was almost non existent. I guess eventually someone will come along and emulate his record, but you have to always wonder whether it will be truly comparable. The game has been modified to make scoring easier than taking wickets because apparently a deluge of 4s and 6s are more exciting than wickets. So any future batting averages have to be taken with a pinch of salt.

I don’t get topping yourself 5 seconds after this happens. Like all sorts of scenarios could play out and a chunk of them don’t involve the end of your life. You’ve still got your gun - if shit looks like it’s going to get medieval just end it then.

'Death taxes' and goodbye to negative gearing: Read the list of enormous changes looming for Australia

But why? If you accumulated wealth through hard work all your life, and knowing you can’t take it with you when you die you have to pass it on to someone, why should the passing it on to someone incur a second round of tax? You already paid tax in order to buy what it was you’re passing on to someone else. It’s literally tax for the sake of tax. That’s bullshit.

HR what's a good performance review?

“Performance reviews have been shown to decrease performance.”

Where?

HR what's a good performance review?

Just not true. Why would businesses work on that model? That would mean having to replace disgruntled workers every 12-24 months after investing time and money upskilling them. It’s completely illogical.

Okay. Some businesses may be cunts. PSA: Many are not, so don’t lump them all in the same basket.

Inheritance tax is bullshit. The commodity being inherited has already been taxed. I’m happy to pay tax, and I paid a fuckton of it last year, but double-dipping is wrong.

HR what's a good performance review?

As a manager involved in performance reviews every six months, this is bullshit.

We absolutely want to reward effort and potential, and if people are demonstrating that, they will get ratings equivalent to an “exceeds expectations” or “exceptional.”

Also, a lot of companies these days have a bell curve distribution they need to meet, or get relatively close to. In other words, a normal distribution would expect (say) 10% of your working population to rank as a 1 (highest), 20% as a 2, 40% as a 3, 25% as a 2 and 5% as a 1 (lowest). So these companies can’t just give everyone a mid score even if they wanted to.

For the first time in club history, both Port Adelaide's men's and women's teams will be wearing the prison bars in their home showdowns

You’re overthinking it. Teams can wear whatever colours and patterns that resonate with them. It really doesn’t matter if other clubs have the same colours and patterns. It’s a stupid concept to suggest that as new clubs join a competition they need to come up with progressively obtuse colour combinations. Just make teams have an away strip that they have to wear when their normal strip clashes with the home team. It’s really and truly that simple.

How is it a genuine question? Are you saying only one club in the entire country gets to wear black and white stripes? That’s fucking ridiculous.

It’s the stupidest shit I’ve ever seen in my life. In soccer, hundreds of clubs have fundamentally the same strip. And it’s not a problem. The home team gets to wear the strip and the away team has to wear something different. That’s it: no one bats an eye. Why the fuck can’t Port wear whatever strip they want at home? It’s complete nonsense.
