For example, Lebron saying Shabazz Napier was his favorite pick in the 2014 draft.
I once proclaimed The Simmons & Embid duo was going to be more dangerous than Stockton & Malone.

Earlier in the summer the news came in that Ricky Rubio was taking a mental health break from the NBA. The news wasn’t box office because Rubio is not a box office attraction.
Since becoming the youngest playerl in Spanish basketball history, Rubio has officially been playing professional basketball since he was 14, before finally deciding, at 32, it was time to take a break.
Congrats, Ricky Rubio. That’s a courageous and difficult thing to do.
Rubio is a journeyman, a player who has travelled around the country a lot, dealing with the mental health burden of not really knowing where he is going to be living year in and year out, not to mention the fact that he has had a camera glued to his face and been scrutinized like a Kardashian since he was a teenager.
My man has made a lot of money over the years as almost all NBA players who have survived in the league as long as he has.
But I think survive is the operative word here.
For every Lebron, Jokic, and Curry, there’s fifty Ricky Rubio’s, guys who got into the league by the skin of their teeth, and have to fight tooth and nail for their survival in a league where there is always someone younger and hungrier coming for your head.
This feels like an apt comparison for almost every industry in America in 2023, especially the ones that people really want to be in. Influencers, looking at you. Many people are willing to do almost anything to “make it,” and have the requisite delusion to push themselves to dangerous extremes.
One thing I hear all of the time from people, I’m not someone with god given talent, I just work the hardest.
Well I’m here to tell you that working hard is kinda overrated.

Derrick White’s recent shave is the talk of every preseason game thus far. Wondering of any other notable players who began their careers with hair before going for the Caillou? Jordan and Kobe feel obvious. Looking for more obscure ones such as D White

Just wanna say thank you to Kaleb for saying a NBA reference towards Lebron James, the Golden State Warriors, Kawhi Leonard, and the Toronto Raptors! I’m a huge nba fan and it was nice to hear some references to my favorite sport. Kaleb is relatable and I’m officially comfortable saying I hope he wins this season, good luck!
The team doesn't even have to have won the championship, but has a team in NBA history overachieved notably due to coaching? How did the coaching impact the team's rotations, player roles, defensive schemes, etc?
for any fantasy players, what are your thoughts on raptors players this season?
for me,
Siakam: fewer minutes. scoring goes down a tiny bit but might be more efficient.
Scottie: I think his scoring and assists will go up. hopefully so does his efficiency.
Poeltl: I think scoring might go down a tiny bit but assists will go up.
OG: undecided. I don't know what he'll look like after watching 3 pre-season games so far.
GTJ: I think he'll be about the same. even though he's coming off the bench.
Think I might only draft Scottie and Poeltl.

Can we get him some follows?
Buddy and I were talking about this, specifically LeBron. No doubt he's a top-30 player. But given his age, we were debating whether or not he'd be a first-round pick in a league-wide redraft. Which then led to a wider conversation about how you would approach team building if all NBA players were made available.
EDIT: Let's flesh out the rules a bit.

Each team gets 1 pick per round (sorry Presti)
Hey,
I am french and I was lucky to see Wembanyama playing when he was still in France (Mets92). I obviously felt in love with him and i therefore decided to follow NBA Spurs this year - the struggle is i love watching a sport once I understand better the standard strategies and standard roles players need to adopt. I am not interested at all (yet) in learning NBA history, legendary feuds or best teams/players. I just want to learn how to watch a game using my brain.
Do you have a book or a series of youtube video to introduce me to this ? Ideally, after consuming this i have a basic understanding of basketball offence/defense strategy and I can understand the role/position of a player when watching a game.
I tried exploring NBA/Basketball for Beginners but could not find wat i was looking for : Either it was talking about a particular season or about a list of stats and details about particular players.
