Other pro sports leagues, specifically the NBA, have muddied what people mean when they say this word. “Tanking” as a definition of “losing on purpose” does not, i repeat DOES NOT, exist in the National Football League. There are verifiable examples of it in the NBA, but that shit doesnt happen in this league. There are only 17 games each year. Players and coaches don’t have the job security to not try their absolute hardest day in and day out. The average NFL career is three years long. Every single NFL game is an audition for the next team they play on.
NFL “tanking” is done at the front office level. The front office is where jobs are the most secure, although they still aren’t all that secure. Most GMs are given at least 3 years for their vision to play out. GMs can “tank” by trading away good players for draft capital and holding off on spending huge money. The Broncos front office did not go into this season with “tank” in mind. They spent more cash in free agency than any other team. This 1-5 Broncos team we have been watching? Thats them trying their absolute best (certain wrs excluded). By Halloween, which is the trade deadline this year, the front office will almost certainly have started the tank.
So, I made this post partly as a response to the people I see who largely echo this sentiment, “The Broncos arent tanking, they wont get the first pick.” To that I say, NOBODY IS FUCKING TANKING, THERE ARE 4-5 TEAMS THAT SUCK ASS AND WE ARE ONE OF THEM!!!! The broncos are no more likely or unlikely to finish with the worst record than the other 5 or so teams swimming in the marianna’s trench with us. Stop saying “oh we arent that bad.” YES WE FUCKING ARE. DO YOU WATCH THESE GAMES??? We are absolutely in the college QB fantasy zone of NFL fandom, anyone who thinks otherwise isn’t paying attention

I feel like across last week, and especially this week, there have been numerous times where the broadcast booths have called in their experts.
This has always been a thing, but I feel like they are no longer giving answers on the fence. It used to be "this could go either way, but I see what they could have maybe seen" blah blah blah.
Now they are saying "Yeah, that's definitely not a penalty." It's refreshing, but sad. I wonder what the outcome will be going forward.
Is there any reason to ever pass the ball in Madden? You can just run the ball every single play without even paying attention to the game like snoozy Grandpa and get first downs ever play non stop
Has anyone else been experience skipping during redzone? It’s been happening for the last couple weeks; it will often rewind about a second.
