It's here–the deepest, sharpest infrared view of the universe to date: Webb's First Deep Field. Previewed by on July 11, it shows galaxies once invisible to us. The full set of 's first full-color images & data will be revealed July 12: nasa.gov/webbfirstimages
The background of space is black. Thousands of galaxies appear all across the view. Their shapes and colors vary. Some are various shades of orange, others are white. Most stars appear blue, and are sometimes as large as more distant galaxies that appear next to them. A very bright star is just above and left of center. It has eight bright blue, long diffraction spikes. Between 4 o’clock and 6 o’clock in its spikes are several very bright galaxies. A group of three are in the middle, and two are closer to 4 o’clock. These galaxies are part of the galaxy cluster SMACS 0723, and they are warping the appearances of galaxies seen around them. Long orange arcs appear at left and right toward the center.

Hey , we heard about Tony Stark. As we know, the first thing you should do is listen in mission control for “, we have a problem.” But if he can’t communicate, then we recommend ground teams use all resources to scan the skies for your missing man

We celebrate the life of Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek actor, trailblazer, and role model, who symbolized to so many what was possible. She partnered with us to recruit some of the first women and minority astronauts, and inspired generations to reach for the stars.

Each second, 1.5 million tons of solar material shoot off the Sun into space. The magnetosphere shields Earth, but the solar wind can get in near the poles and disrupt satellite, radio & GPS signals. 3 new missions aim to improve this technology problem: go.nasa.gov/2D7pIfZ

Giant news from a giant planet! captured a new view of Jupiter in infrared light, uncovering clues to the planet’s inner life. Two moons, rings, and distant galaxies are visible. Get the details: go.nasa.gov/3pErDkC
A wide field view showcases Jupiter in the upper right quadrant. The planet’s swirling horizontal stripes are rendered in blues, browns, and cream. Electric blue auroras glow above Jupiter’s north and south poles. A white glow emanates out from the auroras. Along the planet’s equator, rings glow in a faint white. These rings are one million times fainter than the planet itself! At the far left edge of the rings, a moon appears as a tiny white dot. This moon is only about 12 miles (20 km) across. Slightly further to the left, another moon, about 100 miles (150 km) across, glows with tiny white diffraction spikes. The rest of the image is the blackness of space, with faintly glowing white galaxies in the distance.

Queen Elizabeth II's reign spanned all of spaceflight, predating both Sputnik and Explorer 1. As we join the planet in marking her passing, we are moved by the curiosity Her Royal Highness showed our explorers over the years.
This black-and-white image depicts a 1969 event at Buckingham Palace where (left to right) Michael Collins, Neil Armstrong, Queen Elizabeth II, and Buzz Aldrin met as part of the Apollo 11 Goodwill Tour. The NASA astronauts wear dark suits and slim ties. The queen appears in a light-colored sleeveless dress, pearls, and a brooch.
