What’s New
Version 23.2.2
We’ve added a new chat-based support channel with a specially trained bot that provides answers to all your app-related questions. That’ll do, bot. That’ll do. (Still want to talk to a human? As always, you can create a support ticket and talk to a Happiness Engineer.)
We added everyone’s favorite native media picker, which you’ll recognize from your Apple Photos app. Filter by different media types and search for albums and photos, no matter how many there are. That’s good news for your 3,591 cat photos.
You can now view, relocate, and remove the Jetpack Paywall block in the block editor.
We moved the “Me” button to the bottom tab bar, which comes with a few small design tweaks. The Social Link block also includes an outline so you can see when it’s selected.
We removed the “New Photo Post” shortcut in the app to create a shorter, clearer menu. So long, farewell.
Finally, we squashed a few bugs.
- You can now take a photo within the app and upload it to your site, even if you haven’t given the app full access to your photos.
- Errors now process and display properly when you run into trouble while uploading media.
- The Pages list shouldn’t crash anymore if your authentication token is invalid.
- When you’re working in the block editor, the app should no longer crash when you transform a nested Columns block into a Group block.

I use this and don’t see much difference overall from the Wordpress App but I don’t expect much either maybe, I write my blog. Thanks for that.
I have a suggestion, it would be great to be able to share a draft by link. Kind of like Google Docs. I mean I use that now before I bring it into Jetpack, if I am looking for input or ideas. Just a thought. Thanks for the app.
Opens links from iMessage in the app instead of browser
I'm not sure what happened, but the latest update broke the ability for me to clink on a link I've sent to someone in iMessage to open in a browser window. It now opens the JetPack app and I can't disable this. I'm not pleased with this, it's inconvenient because I'm trying to double check a link I've sent someone. How do I get this behavior to stop? I want all my links in iMesssge to open with a browser instead of the app.
Things shouldn't break with updates. It didn't happen previous to the update, whether the functionality is part of the OS or not. This is on iPadOS. It doesn't do it on my iPhone. I deleted the app which fixed the issue. Now all my links open in Safari as they should. This was the only app it was happening with.

Thank you for your review. The feature you are referring to, where you can open a link in an iOS app or browser, is an iOS feature called Universal Links. This feature is implemented by many apps (Facebook, Amazon, etc.). If you want to open those links in a browser instead of the app, you can long-press the link, presenting you with the "Open in Jetpack" and "Open in Safari" options. Then, you can tap the "Open in Safari" option. By doing that, the iOS system remembers your choice. The next time you tap such links, the link will open in Safari automatically. You can switch back to opening in the app by repeating the same steps with the "Open in Jetpack" option. As I mentioned before, this is an iOS feature, which means it's not limited to Jetpack, and you can do the same on links from Facebook, Amazon, etc.
Why not just stay a part of Wordpress?
I’m not sure why Jetpack felt the need to make an app independent of Wordpress and force Wordpress users to swap to a secondary app for things that are available within Wordpress and are tied directly to Wordpress. Jetpack exists within the Wordpress ecosystem, there’s no reason for it to exist independently. I use Jetpack for Wordpress site stats, why would I want Jetpack to be independent of Wordpress? I hate having to have two apps to run my sites, especially since I can’t seem to get into the Jetpack app with my Wordpress credentials. This whole thing makes zero sense and it might be time to find a new plug in to handle my stats on Wordpress. I’m sure there are others that know who and what made them what they are and aren’t trying to make the user experience unbearable.
