Hyped for Denver vs Miami - either Jokic or Jimmy gets a ring

[–][UTA] Rudy GobertSrilart 2111 points2112 points  (64 children)

I'm not mad.

[–]NBAltDoBeLikeThat_ 1969 points1970 points  (54 children)

One won’t get a ring :(

[–]Knicks TankswagonLeiatte 1548 points1549 points  (31 children)

This makes me sad

[–]Trail BlazersClammuel 785 points786 points  (26 children)

If Jimmy loses he’ll have no regrets since he never looks back. I find solace in this.

[–][LAL] Andre IngramPersianx6 299 points300 points  (4 children)

Jimmy will say something like "I'll be here again in 2024" and that mad man will teleport us to the time when he is indeed, there, in 2024.

[–][deleted] 81 points82 points  (4 children)

I HATE the heat but I want Jimmy to get his.

[–]Heatjwario 410 points411 points  (7 children)

Miami? They have like 4% chance of eliminating Boston

[–]Nuggetsnothing3141592653589 2456 points2457 points  (135 children)

jeff van gundy and mark jackson on suicide watch

[–]Nuggetscapnsouth 1403 points1404 points  (105 children)

Why do they hate us so much. You could hear Jackson cringe every time he had to praise Jokic

[–]Knicksmmmmike1590 334 points335 points  (8 children)

And JVG had the most 'meh' reaction to Jokic's insane 3

[–]LakersIAMA_KOOK_AMA 62 points63 points  (2 children)

Even Lakers fans at the brewery I was watching from had a more excited reaction lmao. I might be a Lakers fan but that shot was just disgusting. You can't guard that.

[–]Warriors2RINITY 1190 points1191 points  (36 children)

Mark Jackson hates the game of basketball in general, IDK why they keep letting him walk into the booth

[–]socal1999 265 points266 points  (10 children)

Mark Jackson is and has always been a fraud.

[–]Heat BandwagonMoveAlongChandler 179 points180 points  (7 children)

The fact that him & JVG said, "Adjustments are overrated; most the time players just need to play harder" is not only reason enough for them to never coach again but they should also be fired from commentating.

If you don't understand what is, and more importantly, what is not happening then you shouldn't be covering the Finals.

[–][BKN] Mikal BridgesPadulsky21 454 points455 points  (11 children)

It’s a fucking shame they pair Jackson and JVG with fucking Breen. Just dampers such a legendary caster with their dumbassery

[–][SAS] Derrick WhiteTyranicross 103 points104 points  (3 children)

Breen can't broadcast with these cats

[–]Mavericks-Shank- 246 points247 points  (30 children)

Did you see his MVP ballot? The dude has something deep seeded against Jokic.

[–]FreddyMartian 40 points41 points  (1 child)

He hates the warriors too, probably because they won a championship the year after he got fired.

[–]General1lol 308 points309 points  (15 children)

JVG in the 4th quarter watching LeBron gasping for air after playing 38 straight minutes:

“See I don’t like that LeBron doesn’t have the ball. He should be driving and scoring in the paint.”

That’s why you don’t coach anymore Jeff.

[–]Existing_Resident_18 78 points79 points  (11 children)

Seriously. LeBron was standing bent over with his arms on his knees and not a mention on the broadcast that he's exhausted.

[–]Knicks TankwagonMVPizzle 51 points52 points  (4 children)

Bro! People in my group chat were screaming to give Lebron the ball every play and were talking big shit after “him disappearing , he should have played the whole game like the first half” I’m like y’all he’s fucking 38 years old!

[–]HotGurt77 7552 points7553 points  (113 children)

ESPN’s 9/11

[–]RocketsTheoDonaldKerabatsos 7389 points7390 points  (36 children)

sir, a second sweep has hit a mega-market team.

[–]GrizzliesBjorn2bwilde24 1645 points1646 points  (21 children)

ESPN gonna lower the Heats chances to win the series because back-2-back sweeps is very unlikely.

[–]Nuggets Bandwagonstrideside 645 points646 points  (5 children)

Probability for MIA to win the series is now -2.1%

[–]HeatJZ_the_ICON 75 points76 points  (0 children)

ESPN gonna hijack the Heats team plane and take them to the mountains of Siberia before game 1 so we have the first ever forfeit in an NBA Finals so they can show LeBron sipping on Mai Thais in Fiji

[–]WizardsUMPIN 413 points414 points  (48 children)

Nah that’s gonna be Wednesday morning after the heat win and they gotta make up shit for a week until the finals

[–]KnicksHamiltonFAI 401 points402 points  (36 children)

ESPN was drooling over a potential Lakers Celtics finals. Now they'll get nuggets heat lol

[–]WarriorsThugosaurusFlex_1017 261 points262 points  (3 children)

'Sir, another broom has hit Bristol'

[–]HeatMuch_Conversation_11 2156 points2157 points  (96 children)

Congrats Nuggets Fans!

Lakers fans: is it just me or were those last two inbounds plays kind of dumb?

[–]LakersGaliani09 1220 points1221 points  (71 children)

Totally dumb plays, Lebron was exhausted and AD didnt appear

[–]Mavericksdallassportsallday 700 points701 points  (52 children)

LeBron showed out, but ffs you can't ask a 40 year old man to play that many minutes and take the final shot.

[–]ClippersDynamixRo 2830 points2831 points  (52 children)

Not gonna lie, was expecting an Austin Reaves three at the end there.

[–]LakersEduar103 863 points864 points  (28 children)

That’s what I was hoping for.

[–][LAL] Lamar Odomgerardatron 484 points485 points  (17 children)

Same here; the guy just seems to make the clutch threes. At least one of the two plays should have had him shooting

[–]Lakersteo1315 257 points258 points  (11 children)

They didn't get him involved enough tonight. It was frustrating. LeBron took over in the 1st half but then nobody else got a rhythm going and then the last 2 possessions sunk it

[–]Netsdrinfernodds 616 points617 points  (9 children)

Mark Jackson, Stephen A Smith, and Jeff Van Gundy all on suicide watch as we speak.

Mark Jackson is probably in the bathroom washing his mouth out with soap for acknowledging Nikola Jokic.

[–]itsadoubledion 9554 points9555 points  (165 children)

"Actually, I remember one time, we were playing against Denver, Conference Finals, and it was 3-0 to the Nuggets. And LeBron said, 'Guys, if you think we are good, let's prove it now.'"

"Did you come back?"

"Of course not. 4-0."

[–]WizardsBlahChemistryBlah 2669 points2670 points  (82 children)

Jokic is probably dominant at CS:GO

[–]Raptorsjotheold 795 points796 points  (15 children)

jokic shot like he had aimhacks on those 3s are cheating

[–]NuggetsHaydaddict 134 points135 points  (1 child)

[–]Lakerssebasq 441 points442 points  (42 children)

[–]HawksTraderTed2 189 points190 points  (6 children)

it's lyrics to Drake's "Over" but I'm so curious why he was saying them

[–]76ersBlackMathNerd 200 points201 points  (1 child)

They had the 2015 rookie class do dramatic readovers of Drake lyrics

[–][CLE] LeBron JamesKingVibrant 239 points240 points  (0 children)

Warriors really turned D'Angelo into Wiggins

[–]Fidel_Chadstro 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Considering how impactful and critical Wiggins is on the post-KD warriors they pretty much traded D’Lo for a ring

[–]WarriorsMC-Jdf 96 points97 points  (0 children)

That was a 2019 video when D’Lo in a Nets uniform knocked the Lakers out of playoff contention.

Full circle moment.

[–]Knicks TankwagonTomasRoncero 3251 points3252 points  (64 children)

I know he was actually productive, but I knew this game was over the moment I saw Tristian Thompson have minutes tonight lmfao

[–]Lakers BandwagonFlxpadelphia 1486 points1487 points  (15 children)

he scored the same amount of points as D'lo in 2/3 the time. Fucking shameful.

[–]Hornetsmichaelalex3 183 points184 points  (13 children)

Why is d’lo so bad? He has flashes of good play but most of the time he’s just ass. I don’t get it.

[–]TimberwolvesDeanEvasonPunch 379 points380 points  (0 children)

Minnesota still holding him back.

[–]Iklru 1271 points1272 points  (6 children)

He dunked on somebody, got an And 1 call, told the nuggets “sit your bitch ass down,” bricked the FT, and then rode the bench while they got swept. I’d say he was the 3rd or 4th best Laker tonight

[–]post920 380 points381 points  (10 children)

I'll be honest, I had no idea Tristan Thompson was still in the league.

[–]Supersonicsksilverfox 297 points298 points  (1 child)

Neither did he

[–]GreedyAd1923 124 points125 points  (0 children)

He wasn’t

[–]Hank_fuck_yourself 251 points252 points  (2 children)

He brought some dawg back to the team with his energy. The game became closer after he came in

[–]LakersPalifaith 334 points335 points  (7 children)

I knew it was over when LeBron bricked that wide open 3 in the 3rd quarter.

[–]motherseffinjones 542 points543 points  (11 children)

One of the most entertaining sweeps I’ve watched

[–]IUViolet 176 points177 points  (6 children)

fr. 4 games they only lose by 24 points while yesterday g3 alone celtics lose by 26 points. maybe one of the closest sweeps ever?

[–]BucksEasthippo 31 points32 points  (1 child)

I think when Brooklyn got swept by Boston last year the point difference was less than 20.

[–]Kingsnext_door_nicotine 741 points742 points  (2 children)

[–]NBAjustmefishes 87 points88 points  (2 children)

Honestly it was kind of weird timing for Melo to make that announcement.

[–]Kings BandwagonLapponias 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Melo: I'm retiring.

Malone: Once a Nugget, always a Nugget.

Melo: I'm back.

[–]Qbert91 119 points120 points  (4 children)

[–]Cavalierssdrakedrake 628 points629 points  (8 children)

[–]Lakersawesomobeardo 801 points802 points  (40 children)

[–]LakersHuman_mind 495 points496 points  (35 children)

We really suffered from not having a Dwight type player this time around. No excuses though, Denver played a masterclass of a series and I wish them the best.

[–]Lakersdeftspyder 390 points391 points  (10 children)

you mean a center.

[–]NBAC-Dawg2_0 1265 points1266 points  (27 children)

[–]Traditional-Link-737 211 points212 points  (9 children)

But what are the models saying?

[–]WarriorsWakingRage 128 points129 points  (1 child)

25% chance for the Celtics to win the series apparently.

[–]WarriorsKdog122025 38 points39 points  (2 children)

Lakers still have a 51% chance to win.

[–]Sunsfinchdad 193 points194 points  (3 children)

LeBron was on the other end of it, but I remember when the Cavs swept the Pacers the year after they beat Golden State in the finals. The Pacers were really good but lost all four games by single digits.

Should the NBA have the Lakers and Nuggets redo their series in case it was a big fluke?

No disrespect to the Nuggets, I'm a firm believer that Denver sweeping them is a huge fluke and robs the Lakers of truly accomplishing what their capable of. I've spent the last few days in pure disbelief and it just doesn't make sense to me. I've spent the entire regular season watching the Lakers play great basketball it's just not fair.

If the Lakers lose again I will face that the Nuggets deserved the win, but I am just 100% sure it was a fluke and does a big disservice to the Lakers and the NBA.

[–]Celticsawrf 586 points587 points  (20 children)

League office about to institute a bronze medal series for the first time just so they can have their Celtics-Lakers matchup

[–]SupersonicsViron_22 235 points236 points  (9 children)

[–]RemarkablyAverage7 38 points39 points  (6 children)

It's rough going 0-4 but you can't feel too bad about it. There's just no stopping the Nuggets, the basketball they're playing is streets ahead of any other team. They're 4 games away from their chip and at least you guys were fighting with all you got to the very end, unlike the Celtics...

[–][UTA] Rudy GobertClzark 567 points568 points  (2 children)

Respect to the Lakers for fighting hard until the end. A play-in team that once had a 0.2% chance to even make the playoffs made it to the conference finals and lost to the 1 seed. Can’t hate on that

[–]Washington BulletsJKG4M3R 485 points486 points  (7 children)

total margin of loss over the entire series was still less than the celtics margin of loss in game 3 vs the heat

[–]LakersHuman_mind 108 points109 points  (1 child)

This actually makes me really proud of the guys. Any of those games could have gone the other way, they just didn't. Mad respect and props to the Nuggets for pulling this out. This Finals is going to be the least salty ever.

[–]Clippersashlazy 3305 points3306 points  (124 children)

[–]NuggetsManyCookies 357 points358 points  (16 children)

As far 4-0 swept series go, you could do a hell of a lot worse than what the Lakers did.

[–]LakersChichoSerna 931 points932 points  (19 children)

Respect all around tonight.

[–]BullsZloggt 510 points511 points  (10 children)

Considering where the Lakers were at the start of the season…it is pretty respectable how far they managed to go!

And in the end…at least they fought hard throughout all this series…unlike a certain other team that’s also at sweep risk…

[–][LAL] Kobe BryantLaMarc_Gasoldridge_ 174 points175 points  (4 children)

Between Denver being such a great story (first NBA Finals appearance, best team all year etc) and Boston quitting in the second quarter of ECF games, this loss definitely doesn't have the sting I thought us losing would.

[–]NuggetsBlueMountainGoat 52 points53 points  (2 children)

[–]lkodl 64 points65 points  (5 children)

The year is 2003.

Carmelo Anthony has been drafted number 2 overall behind LeBron James.

Carmelo picks up the Monkey Paw and makes a wish:

"I wish for the Nuggets to sweep LeBron in the playoffs."

We got swept but this season was awesome

Any real Lakers fan can't be mad right now. Injured LeBron, 2-10 start, roster thrown together at the trade deadline. Of course it sucks to get swept but the fact that the Lakers made it as far as they did is incredible.

This end to the season was so hyped. Nuggets look like the real deal man. They fight off any run we threw at them.

Hyped going into next season. Send DLo to Guantanamo, sign a legit 2nd big and we are solid

In another life, I would have really liked just drinking wine in Cancun with you.
