Harry likes to read books. He's a fan of Science Fiction and Fantasy. In his basement apartment, he had a box of used books by the door, a stack of books to be read, and a book shelf where he kept his favorites.

That was when he was a wizarding nobody. But now he is an active and important member of the magical community, with wars to fight, a kingdom of fairy to manage, and Mab to appease. Who has time to read anymore?

What can Harry do? He can't subscribe to Audible. He can't even listen to Books on Tape. Not even if they were on 8-Track tape! At this point, it is doubtful that a modern credit card would work. With a chip and magnetic strip, it is likely to self-destruct in his wallet and cause a fire.

I've been worrying about this for Harry's sake, and I have some possibilities I want him to explore.

Just how well does the Intellectus of Demonreach work?

Could Harry take a paperback copy of "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir to Demonreach and know what it says?

I mean, he knows everything about the island, that is of the island, if he pays attention. He can even tell when people are walking on it, even if they are not of the island. (He doesn't seem to be able to tell what weapons they are carrying until they use them. But may he isn't paying attention enough?)

So, what would it take?

Would walking onto the island with the book in his pocket be enough? Would he have to somehow dedicate the book to the island, declare it to be part of the island? Would it work if he got Alfred to read it for him?

What if he pulled the pages out of their binding, and laid them text-side-down on the sand? Would that work? Then could he detect the differences between page and ink and "read" the book?

Also, would an Intellectus comprehension of a book be enjoyable? If Harry gets the entire book as a gestalt, and not as a series of events that he reads in order, will it be fun? No surprises, no guessing "whodunnit", no jokes without the punchline at the same time. "Luke, I am your Father" is not a surprise.

Maybe this explains the way that Fairie reacts to humans. A bit bemused at our antics. Bored maybe. Who taught Toot-Toot the law of Winter? "But Harry, you just KNOW!"

If Harry gets Intellectus to read for him, will he too become bemused or bored at it all? Will it affect his quips given in a fight?

Will it make him less human?
