How should we handle our 23 y/o son who doesn't want to work? by ConcernedParents123 in NoStupidQuestions

I like the idea of charging rent in this situation to hold for the child when they land on their feet. They don’t have to know you’re going to return it to them, but it keeps them from blowing it and could help with rental deposit, furnishings, clothes for new job, etc.

Massive Temp Fluctuations. by InterestingCrazy239 in greenmountaingrills

(Edit - shit just noticed you replaced the board, did you try the sensor too?) Have you tried calling? I haven’t always got fast replies over email but helpful when I called. I was dealing with this and they basically said the board was bad. Replaced and runs perfect again. Long story but I had a spare board for other reasons so luckily didn’t cost me anything.

Quick way they told me to check the sensor, make sure your display is set to actual temp not set temp. Put a propane torch right on the temp sensor, if the temp spikes right away the temp sensor is most likely fine. And also check if it’s reading ambient temperature within reason before startup. When I told them these tests all checked out they said it’s probably the board and it was

We put too much trust on fast food restaurants cleaning out their ice machine on a regular basis by eggtart_prince in Showerthoughts

[–]FredEffinShopan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad worked on an ice machine in a building that the workers in that area added themselves. He found out they didn’t have the drain/vent installed properly and a mop sink from a higher elevation was occasionally backing up into the ice machine. Be careful digging deep in that ice bin! 🤮

Anyone else eat the ‘outer layer’ of their carrots before eating the middle? by skippermonkey in CasualUK

When I was a kid I liked to peel and eat the skin off uncooked hot dogs before finishing the rest. The part underneath is like an unholy sponge of mystery meat. For the record I no longer do this

That isn’t really a safety device it’s there to take strain off your plumbing from thermal expansion

In honor of your father- Sometimes there's a man... I won't say a hero, 'cause, what's a hero? But sometimes, there's a man. And I'm talkin' about the Dude here. Sometimes, there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there. And that's the Dude

I had not heard the plug acts like a backup to the pressure relief valve. Can understand sticking with plastic for peace of mind. Although I don’t think home water heaters have a backup safety measure to the PRV so 🤷‍♂️. Will say no corrosion issues after 5 years and I have had the valve out to flush the tank. The aluminum area is much greater than the brass which reduces the galvanic corrosion effect. Also since the tank is dry except when in use that helps as well (no electrolyte present).

I recommend taking out the nylon drain plug and installing a brass petcock valve for easy draining. I know a lot of people rarely drain theirs, but I do it every trip after we got a bad rotten egg smell one time. Never happened again

Top 2 available players in my fantasy league are TON, Mikolas, and the guy that has Arenado benched him for Ezequiel Duran. A lot of baseball left but this is bad

You’re a year late to the party lol but I don’t have the same issue with light output. The 60W floodlight replacements put out more light than my incandescents, but the longevity stinks. Either they flicker or give out completely on average much faster than incandescents
