HI everyone,
Just got this thing a couple of months ago. Since getting it I have replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the fuel injectors, changed the air filter, cleaned the mass air flow sensor, replaced a cracked PCV hose, replaced the PCV valve, changed the oil, pumped the tires to proper PSI. At this point I think the AF sensor is really the only other thing to replace in hopes of getting better MPG. A vacuum leak is the other thing I have been clued on into checking but I haven't researched how I should go about that.
With an engine that has that many miles on it, should I expect this kind of mpg from normal wear and tear to piston rings and/or cylinders. EPA rating is 31 mpg new. Not expecting to get 31, but 22 is like almost a 30% decrease in gas mileage. 22 just seems to me to be a dramatic drop. My 1996 Explorer that is a 4.0L 6 cylinder 4x4 with more miles than the Camry gets 17 mpg on the same trek that I make to and from work.
Any suggestions here?
Thanks so much for any advice here.
