Top Gear Crossover/caravan episode joke?

In Series 20 Episode 5, Jeremy and James are testing crossover cars, and at one point they are in a car park at night making references to something.

My childish mind thinks it is dogging, but I don't know, they end the sequence with "we were waiting in the car park for quite some time"

How did Top Gear fans react when the trio left and Matt Leblanc was in?

So, I used to watch this show with a friend back in high school, around 2010 or so, and today I felt like watching it again. I didn’t know that they got replaced with Matt Leblanc and other dudes, I missed all that transition. Can someone tell me how it all went down and what was the fanbase reaction? Did TG went to hell after that and how do you feel about The Grand Tour? (That’s what I’m watching rn)
