Luke Wilson ?

Does anybody know what happened to Luke Wilson / why he isn’t in the recurring cast members anymore ? I thought he was really good (and better than his brother) in most Wes Anderson movies… his scene in Royal Tenenbaums was especially touching

Owen and Wes were (and are) close friends. The other Wilson brothers were sort of just along for the ride, and weren’t close with Wes like Owen was. As it stands, Wes has the clout to cast basically whoever he wants, and I guess Luke and Andrew aren’t at the top of that list.

That said, I do miss seeing Luke in Anderson’s movies, and hope it happens again, eventually.

Luke Wilson was also a pretty hot actor at the time when he disappeared from Wes’ movies - was the lead in Old School, and also had big roles in a Charlie’s Angels sequel and Legally Blonde 2 all in 2003, so I think he was busy making studio movies and wasn’t in the mix anymore

I heard they met up at Texas Roadhouse back home and got into a beef about some thing or another and ended up in the parking lot taking swings. Lot of whiffs. Peeled out leaving Owen saying, “No one else got hit? I’m the only one?”

You can say the same thing about his friends back home who are no longer appearing in the films, Kumar's son, Robert Tenenbaum, the dude who played Rupert the DJ in Rushmore, the dude who played tennis against Richie in Royal Tenenbaums. Those are all the ones I can remmeber right now, but there was a big switch it seemed between Tenenbaums and Life Aquatic (when Wally Wooladrsky and Noah Baumbauch started getting involved)

just moved on to other things maybe. Owen always seemed to have been closer to wes, considering they have been friends since high school and i believe were in the same grade. Plus owen co-wrote a lot of wes’ stuff

They met in college.

Maybe this is a more cynical take, but I just assumed the studio wanted some of the bigger names from the "indie scene".

I think it might have to do with tastes and styles. But I’m just speculating…
