CR is helping play test the RPG supplement SINK! A DnD supplement filled with magical tattoos, adventures, lore and more. Also featuring loads of art from the infamous artist Samurai Rusk, known for their hundreds of celebrated Critical Role tattoos.

Would you like the battle map, soundtrack mp3, and additional resources for a SINK one-shot in Deep Grotto?
Here’s the Google Drive link (53MB).

Personally I love that vessel-boarding/storm-the-castle aspect of pirates. There is another supplement for naval combat known as Limithron’s Guide to Naval Combat available for purchase or by the link below for free.
The link to the guide itself is here (11MB)

Did you love that sweet and spooky song at the end of the episode?

That's RahRah - The Hound! (2MB)

SINK art with a mermaid (top left), a ship framed by a porthole, rope and flowers (center), and the Grim Reaper (bottom right)

This entire supplement is targetted at the the kind of nerd I am. Got more into sea shanties than most. Learned to use an astrolabe just because. I can't resist this bait, I'm hooked.

Subclasses (left to right): Tidesong Bard, Buccaneer Fighter, Mist Breaker Ranger, and Spellskin Wizard

If there is one thing that I love about well executed media, is the fact that your identity and baggage influences what you perceive between the lines.

Up until now I enjoyed C3 like any live play campaign. Today listening to the news I heard that the Italian prime minister (my prime minister) has been given (by none other than Elon Musk) the global citizen award (she is 85% fascist, 15% asshole). And I thought, what makes her a better global citizen than me, wtf, she is racist, doesn't care about the envirnment and is homophobic, while I work my ass out to pay my taxes and try to differentiate my rubbish every day.

and it f-ing clicked: tin-foil hat mode ON

The whole "gods are assholes up in the sky" is a f-ing commentary on all the real life politicians, billionaires and celebrities, that are always painted in a way that makes us feel as if we don't count anything, that we are not good enough, that we need them to go forward, and we should be thankful to them for smiling on a camera and saying that we should hate migrants and lgbtqa+ people. NO, we f-ing put them there (or work for them, or watch their show whatever) they should be thankful to us.

Ashton is right! What have they done for us, except using us to gain and preserve their underserved power and adoration?

Tin-foil hat mode OFF

It is all for shits and giggles, my theory is just me projecting my experiences and feelings into a medium that I sincerely love, but the potential depth of their improv work is incredible, even the fact that their game simply offers the possibility to read so much into it has no equal, and I love it!

[Spoilers C3E105] Ashton Fan Playlist [Spoilers C3E105] Ashton Fan Playlist

Taliesin wrote that his Bells Hells playlist for Ashton is a tiny snippet of 11+ hours of music he's put together for the character, and that at some point he's planning to put out a second playlist with even more of a "loud and angry" vibe.

I'm not sure when we'll see the official volume 2, but in the meantime I thought it would be a fun thought experiment to create an alternate fan playlist for Ashton (similar to the one I made previously for Laudna).

I ended up settling on a cross-section of examples from various punk scenes in the UK, US, and Europe, along with some rock, alternative, and a few oddballs. The list is semi-chronological and spans roughly C3E1 to C3E105. Thanks to u/Frequent-Ad-85 and u/Heewalle for some great suggestions that I've incorporated into this playlist. Here it is:

  1. "What's My Name" by The Clash - So he was raised by a cult who all died, and now is partly made of stone. What the fuck is up with that?

  2. "I Don't Give a Fuck" by The Partisans - Just don't.

  3. "Made of Scars" by Stone Sour - Every scar tells a story. This one says that a burglary went sideways, they fell out of a window and lost everyone he cared about.

  4. "Rebels With a Cause" by Dropkick Murphys - Sometimes all it takes to turn a bunch of misfits into a team of heroes is a paranoid old man and some animated furniture.

  5. "Glass" by Gang of Four - "Look through the window and what do you see?" (He's going to pick your pocket at the same time.)

  6. "In This Body" by KT Tunstall - Chronic pain and emotional armoring.

  7. "Welcome to Paradise" covered by Ketchup Mania - Ashton's happy place is not in Jrusar or Bassuras; it's swinging a giant crystal hammer through a portal and going full Looney Tunes.

  8. "The Kids Are All Rebels" by Lenii - Ludinus is just another rich, narcissistic asshole who doesn't know how full of shit he is.

  9. "What Doesn't Kill You" by Jake Bugg - After victory in the Deathwish Run and a messy escape from the Seat of Disdain, Otohan comes after them and it all goes to hell.

  10. "Ha Ha Ha Armageddon" by The Julie Ruin - It's a big fun party at the apogee solstice.

  11. "Wrong Side of Heaven" by Five Finger Death Punch - The gods notice Ashton in Hearthdell and aren't thrilled about what they see.

  12. "Waltz Primordial" by Kevin MacLeod, Alexander Nakarada - "I seek my past. I seek power. I seek to know what I am."

  13. "Totally Fucked" (Original Broadway Cast Recording) - There's a moment you know - when the DM says to roll ten rounds of constitution saving throws.

  14. "Hate To Say I Told You So" by The Hives - Drama! Consequences! Trust exercises!

  15. "Gravity" by SHADU - That weird black and white thing starts happening and everything gets heavy. Time to dance on the moon.

  16. "Made of Gold" by Albert af Ekenstam - That little gold robot was always going to be a problem. Of course they decided to be a fucking hero.

  17. "Guilt Within Your Head" by The Gits - Ashton's trying to help their friend Laudna stay clean, but Delilah keeps pulling her back in.

  18. "It's a Motherfucker" by Eels - Welcome home, buddy.

  19. "The Simplest Words" by The Narcissist Cookbook - Saving the world can wait for tomorrow. Tonight it's time to drink and play spin the bottle.

  20. "Fuck Authority" by Pennywise - Exactly what it says on the tin.
