I was an extra in it! First time wearing crocs!

[–]imhungry4321Millennial - 1985 3 points4 points  (1 child)

That's rad!
Were you the dude who had is face sat on in prison? jk

[–]FerdinandBowie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just a rando. We just walked around a lot and waited.

[–]Smellmyhand 3 points4 points  (6 children)

The amount of people I’ve come across who were extras in this movie is incredible. I’m not doubting you, by the way. It’s just crazy how common it is. I know they used a lot but it always amazes me

[–]FerdinandBowie 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Dude, there were a TON of us.

It felt like a weirdly specific cult because everywhere you look we all dressed the same and we ate the same food, and when we had to go to set, we all moved the same...

I met a cute girl i talked to all night..that was probably the best part tbh

Oh and i saw luke wilson in a car.

[–]Perpetvated 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How much did you get paid?

[–]FerdinandBowie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe 80

[–]FerdinandBowie 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Mostly from austin?

[–]Smellmyhand 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Lol I forgot to mention I do live in Austin

[–]FerdinandBowie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was some fb group for idio extras a few yrs ago..it was fun for a bit

[–]throwawayadhd2271996 0 points1 point  (3 children)

No way, really? Where can we find you in the movie?

[–]FerdinandBowie 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I cant see myself! Probably an arm made it in tbh

They were looking for brawndo types...those made it on screen the most.

I was told i was too pretty lol

[–]notjanelane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's what plants crave

[–]FerdinandBowie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]boomer_joose_2000Millennial 53 points54 points  (2 children)

Seen it? We’re fuckin in it!

[–]Expensive_Finance_20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idiocracy? Oh, you mean the Great Prophecy? Yes. Yes, I've seen that.

[–]TipzE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original was a comedy.

The sequel is a tragedy.

At least they're trying different things?

[–]BulldogsOnly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My dad and I have watched this movie together roughly 50 times and quote it to each other regularly.

Literally this week he was trying to explain Liquid IV to me and was like “it’s got what plants crave”.

[–]imhungry4321Millennial - 1985 25 points26 points  (0 children)

**Documentary

[–]Smellmyhand 7 points8 points  (2 children)

It’s actually amazing that they nailed crocs. I remember when crocs were released, they were a joke. Nurses shoes.

[–]odin_the_wiggler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone in the 2006 movie "Idiocracy" wears Crocs because they were cheap and the film's producers thought they were too horrible-looking to ever become popular.

True

[–]JonatasA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I've heard is that crocs were thought to be so .. crocs, that they would never become a thing. Like one year later they caught on.

Just goes as a testament to the movie, really.

[–]Spazic77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, I only watch "ow my balls".

[–]northvertigo78 4 points5 points  (1 child)

It's got electrolytes

[–]tinyflyingsquirrell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has what plants crave !🤣

[–]griever0008 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm watching it play out daily

[–]TheBlackdragonSix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's currently free on YouTube

[–]user-name-1985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Costco, I love you.

[–]Kerb3r0s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one has seen it. Definitely no one on Reddit

[–]Weird-Connection-530 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Great movie lol, watched it for the first time this year, and it felt eerily spot on to what society is heading towards

[–]Th3_0range 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a headline yesterday that showed that fetterman dude in his shorts and Hoodie and was saying how Republicans were mad that democrats want to relax the dress code.

The first thing I thought of was the government in idiocracy.

It's a slippery slope, we have to hold some standards.

I do enjoy all these women who think a bra and leggings is an outfit now though.

[–]RavenousBrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Life is really stranger than fiction

[–]ElGeeBeTrans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anyone not?

[–]mplsdrew22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit too real these days.

[–]frecklehammers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, Not

[–]PeakAncient415 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You mean Fox News

[–]-qp-Dirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idiocracy, Fight Club and American Beauty molded my personal philosophy to this day.

[–]swooooot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great movie! Seen it multiple times.

[–]Artistic_Original199 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is overrated. Luke’s brother has better timing, though Old School is one of the all time greats imo

[–]alonefrownKnown Xennial -3 points-2 points  (2 children)

Never got into the whole “laughing at eugenics” thing. Movie’s got a fucked up premise. Unequal distribution of socioeconomic power and the systems that perpetuate it are killing the world. Pretending that differential reproduction of humans should be engineered is fucked and I sort of can’t believe so many people think it’s a funny joke.

The idea that plants crave electrolytes is objectively funny, though.

[–]JonatasA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both comments going the opposite way in their argument.. or something. Call not sure to elaborate.

The movie says that scientists could have made people smart or counter acted the effect through medicine; but were too busy seeking profit (drugs for profit rather than necessity, a true catalyzer of pharmaceutical research).

The movie says what happened, it does not, at any moment, show any measures being taken to stop it. That's left to the viewer, like we see in the comment here.

PS: For exanple, If people with Albinism reproduce, there is a chance their children will carry it. That's not eugenics, that's the truth. Saying it is not wrong, nor implies telling albinos not to marry among themselves.

Does this even needs to be said?

[–]OrphanedInStoryville -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I don’t know why Reddit can be (in general) this left wing but still want this movie to fuck it’s girlfriend.

Just kidding I do. It’s because everyone on Reddit thinks they’re big brain super genius and they like movies like this that tell them they’re big brains super geniuses and everyone else is a dumb dumb idiot.

People that make this movie part of their identity are the Dunning-Kruger effect in real life. So in need of validation that they’re smart. But not actually smart enough to understand the insane eugenics that the movie pushes.

[–]TheScoundrelLeander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It was a hilarious fictional movie that seems to have morphed into a documentary some how.

[–]bakalaka25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda redundant these days but classic

[–]themommatoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reference this movie all the time. The world is turning into this movie.

[–]commonsenseisdead82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other then the issues with gender they really called all this dumb shit so early.

[–]tinyflyingsquirrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch it? Hell, many days I feel like we live it! BTW, I still can't bring myself to own a pair of crocs.

[–]Mockturtle22Millennial '86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought that it would grow to be a documentary

[–]Skytraffic540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t like it Just thought the scene with Justin long was funny. Similar to his character in strange wilderness https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MnbM1pEsKZY&pp=ygUWU3RyYW5nZSB3aWtkZXJuZXNzIGV5ZQ%3D%3D

[–]xPlus2Minus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to stop myself watching it now, because reality is no longer funny and I have to like titrate

[–]SlappingDaBass13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not trying to be that guy incorrect you but it's not a movie it's a documentary

[–]C_M_Dubz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Fecal_ForgerMillennial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]KylosLeftHand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to laugh watching it….now I just cry

[–]Lumpy_Inspector_855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If not, just turn on the news.

[–]This-Garbage-3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]TechieTravis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're living in it :)

[–]Fireflyfanatic1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyday is like it on Reddit.

[–]teamprobst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently living it

[–]Arkvoodle42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was a lot funnier before we were living in it.

[–]GimmeDatPomegranateMillennial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 🙄 I just get sick of this movie being mentioned to me by friends/family because I'm doing very well financially and am well educated but don't want kids.

Yes, I know, it's usually those who are impoverished and/or ignorant who are having tons of kids. Frankly, I don't give a shit. I'm not wrecking my life so I can have my offspring to offset their offspring or some sort of nonsense. World is going to hell anyway.

[–]Reignbow87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the only film that went from comedy to documentary
