...to try your hand at fan fiction
...to talk about how you liked that one part of the movie
Let's try and keep discussion to actual spoilers and news, not rampant speculation and mindless chatter.
To mark spoilers:
[This is a spoiler](#spoiler)
Feel free to discuss it, post clips, screenshots, or even where to get it. But no direct links. For more information click here. Please note, this only applies to pirated content. Official links to legal purchase or download are a different story.
This applies to artwork, videos, photos and stories.
Unless it is truly revealing something new (for instance cleaning up an image or visualizing a description), consolidating information or adding a new angle please take it elsewhere.
No fan art, fan films, fan fiction or fan theories. In short, if you made it and it's not created by Lucasfilm/Disney then we probably don't want it here.
All posts need to contain facts and/or credible rumors in order to qualify for this sub. Speculation and theories are fine, but they need to happen in the comments, not a dedicated post.
If your speculation or theory takes too many liberties and delves in to fan fiction it will be removed. Dedicated speculation posts should be redirected to a relevant subreddit such as r/StarWars or r/StarWarsSpeculation.
There needs to be some sort of information regarding the actual media properties and/or the storyline within. If we aren't learning anything new about the movies, TV shows, games or novels then it likely falls under this. No reaction videos, memes, gags, goofs, etc. Have a good sense of humor, just keep the jokes to the comments.
This rule still applies on April 1st (April Fools Day) unless otherwise announced by a moderator.
Simply state the content accurately and concisely, then hit submit. No clickbait, misleading, or opinion based titles. When in doubt, use the suggested title or a direct quote. Voicing your opinions on a subject is fine, but it needs to happen in the comments.
We want the right person to get the credit. If an article cites another publication as the source for the information or quote, follow the links until you find where it originated and post that instead. The same thing goes for social media posts.
Please avoid posting screenshots if at all possible due to the fact that they are easy to fake. Either post the link to the source or provide a link to the source in the comments.
Please see Coda to Rule Six for info re: banned sources.
Direct links or screenshots of the content of fandom personalities who have proven themselves bad social media actors through persistent unprofessional behavior are not permitted. Please discuss in Wild Rumors, or wait until another news source vets and links the content.
Please reference this post for an example of the behavior in question
Reposts on a hot topic without sufficient addition of new information will be deleted and redirected to the original submission. This includes reactions/editorials on news and comparison photos. If you want to give your take on something just post it in the comments of the original submission.
Please flesh out any questions with something more than a one sentence blurb. Open ended questions/comments with no real purpose will also be removed.
Opinion pieces do not have a place here. We don't need meta posts on why you do/don't like spoilers or about something you do/don't like about this sub, the state of Star Wars or current events. The comment section of a relevant topic is fine, but no need for your own thread.
All merchandise news and rumors needs to pertain to NEW information about upcoming media. Basically, all merchandise posts are only allowed in the service of learning something new about another piece of media. If it's a toy of a character, costume, vehicle, object or location and it DOESN'T add previously unknown information to the general discussion, it will not be allowed. Please redirect to r/StarWarsCollecting or another relevant subreddit.
These kinds of post are great when the film hasn't been released worldwide yet, are helpful for facilitating discussion and are often quite popular, but a cutoff point is necessary to curb karma farming. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis.
Please read and abide by our Community Conduct Guidelines. We want this to be pleasant and enjoyable place for people people to spend their time. If you're looking to pick a fight or complain about Star Wars, go somewhere else.
