Carol Burnett’s character poll

So, all we know is that 90 year old Carol Burnett will make an appearance, and her character is named Marion.

There are lots of theories and predictions. Which seems best and most feasible to you? Let’s hear your theories and justifications. I personally do not have a clue, but it is fun to speculate. Be nice.

  1. Judge Papadoumian

  2. Howard’s mother

  3. Kim’s grandmother

  4. Kim’s mother

  5. A Sandpiper resident

  6. A totally new character

  7. Walt’s mother

Wholesome

6.

In a recent interview with the A.V. Club, Peter Gould stated or implied three things about the character: 1) Carol Burnett likely traveled to Albuquerque for the role as Peter asked Vince whether Burnett would "really fly to Albuquerque" for the show, 2) The character was created before the casting of Burnett and "is so much more than a cameo," and 3) She is a "character that people are going to love and be fascinated by."

All those things together make me think that Marion will be connected somehow to the ABQ criminal underworld, maybe technically "retired" but willing to provide services for the right price. Whether she is present during the BCS timeline or BB timeline, I think that Marion could play a significant role in the proceedings in either E09 or E10. IIRC, we still don't know yet how Saul gets the diamonds or the Panamanian passport which are kept in his shoebox. And of course we have no clue yet what happens to Kim or what path she elects to take from Point and Shoot.

Personally I would be most fascinated by a character like that but that's just my two cents. If I'm being honest I think I just really want to see Carol Burnett play a badass career criminal type.

Maybe she is the head of the “taxi service” that Gene battles it out with

In the original script for Breaking Bad's pilot episode, Jesse's name was supposed to be Marion Dupree. (Thank god that changed)

Kind of lends some plausibility that the character is connected to the criminal world.

Howard’s mom. In the scene where Mike was talking to Jimmy and Kim, they went out of their way to state over and over again that they need to stick to their story which tells me that they are going to be challenged by someone on their story.

Cliff and Cheryl are more obvious candidates for that.

I really don’t see why Howard’s mother would be introduced this late in the story. His wife or one of his colleagues would be the one to challenge the story.

Jimmy is going to be tugging his ear so hard.

Oh God that’ll be heartbreaking if so. I can totally picture the scene being that Kim gets shaken by having to tell the tie to Howard’s mother but Jimmy who’s fully become Saul now tells the lie with ease.

She's in the vets black book. There was a rather impressive post by someone who actually decoded the parts that were on camera. There's a character named four finger Marion or something to do with a missing finger. Im pretty sure she's a criminal.

uhh kid named finger??

That would be so much cooler than all the Howard/Kims mother theory. Give me badass criminal grandma!

Darn I think you’re right. But I so wanted her to be Judge Papadoumian.

this isn’t a guess, but does anyone remember when Chuck and Rebecca were planning for Jimmy to come over and they referenced Carol Burnett’s show? thought that was kinda funny

Yes! Just saw that today on my rewatch. So Carol Burnett is mentioned in the BCS universe and will be someone else. WTF

They had a similar thing in the sopranos where there was a significant plot point involving Frankie Valli, and in the later seasons he appeared as a contender to be a mob boss as Rusty.

The same funny thing goes to Breaking Bad, when Walt and Walter Jr are watching Scarface on TV. Mark Margolis, who plays Hector Salamanca also appears in Scarface.

I vote 6.

Marion "Four Finger" Galbraith.

Ed's wife who is involved in the vacuum business (and can cover for Ed if he is out of town) and is also listed in the vet's black book in her own right.
