Developer Terms
Welcome! We are excited that you are interested in accessing and using Reddit’s “Developer Services” that include our platform for developers (“Developer Platform”), application programming interfaces (“APIs”), service for embeds (“Reddit Embeds”), software development kits (“SDKs”), other developer products and services, and associated software, data, and code.
These Reddit Developer Terms (“Developer Terms”), Reddit’s documentation, policies, guidelines, and other materials for the Developer Services (collectively, “Developer Documentation”), and the Reddit User Agreement (“User Agreement”) apply to and govern your access to and use of the Developer Services and constitute an agreement between you and Reddit. The Developer Terms include certain terms that are defined in our User Agreement.
Your websites, webpages, applications, bots, services, research, and other offerings (each, your “App”) may interact with our Services and end users (“Users”) through the Developer Services in accordance with the Developer Terms and any applicable Additional Terms.
By accepting the Developer Terms or otherwise accessing the Developer Services, you agree to be bound by the Developer Terms. If you do not agree to the Developer Terms, then you must not access or use the Developer Services.
You may not use the Developer Services and may not accept the Developer Terms if: (a) you are not of legal age to form a binding contract with Reddit; (b) you are a person barred from accessing, using, or receiving the Developer Services under the applicable laws of the United States or other countries, including the country in which you are resident, or from which you use the Developer Services; or (c) Your Account (including any alternative Account controlled by you) is suspended, terminated, has violated our User Agreement, or otherwise is not in good standing.
If you are accepting the Developer Terms on behalf of your employer or another entity, you represent and warrant that: (a) you have full legal authority to bind your employer, or the applicable entity, to the Developer Terms; (b) you have read and understand the Developer Terms; and (c) you agree, on behalf of the party that you represent, to the Developer Terms. If you do not have the legal authority to bind your employer or the applicable entity, please do not use the Developer Services.
Reddit may ask you to provide us with information about your App (e.g., name and description) and yourself (e.g., your name and email) in order to access and use the Developer Services. You consent to Reddit collecting and using this information. If there are any changes to the information you provide us, you must notify us of those changes and keep your information accurate, complete, and up-to-date at all times.
Reddit grants you, subject to your complete and ongoing compliance with the Developer Terms and our User Agreement, a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license solely to:
access and use the Developer Services and Developer Documentation we make available to you in order to interact with, develop, deploy, distribute, and run your App;
copy and display Content created with or submitted to the Services by Users (collectively, “User Content”) on and through your App to your App Users (as defined below) and modify User Content only to format it for display on your App; and
use and display the Reddit trademarks and trade names (“Reddit Trademarks”) in order to attribute our Services as the source of User Content on your App in accordance with our Brand Guidelines and Press Guidelines;
in each case, only as expressly permitted under and in accordance with the Developer Terms and Developer Documentation (the “Reddit License”).
The Reddit License does not include User Content owned by Reddit’s licensors (including our advertisers, affiliates, and partners) or third-party software governed by its own terms (e.g., open source software). Reddit and our licensors reserve all rights, title, and interest not expressly granted under the Reddit License, and it is your responsibility to comply with any applicable third-party or open source license terms.
All rights not expressly granted to you in this section are reserved by Reddit. Nothing in the Developer Terms grants you an implied license of any kind.
Because we offer a variety of Developer Services, you may be asked to agree to Additional Terms before using specific Developer Services offered by Reddit. For example:
If you use our Data API, you must also agree to our Data API Terms.
If you use Reddit Embeds, you must also agree to our Embeds Terms of Use.
If you use our Ads API, you must also agree to our Ads API Terms.
All Additional Terms for Developer Services are incorporated by this reference into, and made a part of, the Developer Terms, and to the extent any Additional Terms conflict with the Developer Terms, the Additional Terms govern with respect to your use of the corresponding Developer Services.
You will only access (or attempt to access) and use the Developer Services through tokens, keys, passwords, login credentials, and other access controls that are authorized and made available to you by Reddit (collectively, “Access Info”), and you must use your Access Info in accordance with the Developer Terms and our Developer Documentation. You may not share your Access Info with any other third party without Reddit’s permission, and you will keep your Access Info secure at all times.
Your App must comply with all specifications and requirements in the Developer Documentation. You understand and agree that Reddit may require you to submit your App for Reddit’s review and approval at Reddit’s discretion (“App Review”), including prior to distributing it through the Developer Platform, after hitting API rate limits, or at any time at Reddit’s sole discretion. You agree to cooperate and promptly respond and provide information relevant to any requests from Reddit in connection with App Review.
As part of App Review, Reddit may monitor your use of Developer Services, Services, User Content, or data, information, Materials, or other content obtained through or otherwise derived from any of the foregoing (collectively, “Reddit Services and Data”) and audit your App and your access to and use of Reddit Services and Data to ensure you are complying with the Developer Terms and Developer Documentation. You will not interfere with Reddit’s monitoring and must cooperate with Reddit in connection with any App Review audit and provide us with information requested by us to evidence your and your App’s compliance with the Developer Terms and Developer Documentation. If Reddit identifies any interference with any Reddit Services and Data by you, you agree that we may use any technical measures to prevent, block, or otherwise overcome the interference.
Reddit may update or modify any Reddit Services and Data from time to time, at its sole discretion. Updates may adversely affect how your App accesses or communicates with the Reddit Services and Data, including how it displays User Content. You are required to implement and use the most current version of the Reddit Services and Data and to make any changes to your App that are required as a result of an update to the Reddit Services and Data. Your continued access or use of Reddit Services and Data following any update to them constitutes binding acceptance of the update.
You are solely responsible for your App (including its development, operation, maintenance, support, distribution, use, and App Content (as defined below)). You will require users of your App (“App Users”) to comply with all applicable laws and regulations and our User Agreement in connection with their use of your App and will not permit, facilitate, or enable your App Users to violate our User Agreement.
If you have separate terms of service or another agreement that applies to App Users’ use of your App, you agree that the terms of service or agreement: (a) is solely between you and the App User, and Reddit will not have any responsibility or liability under them; and (b) may not and will not supersede, modify, or be inconsistent with the Developer Terms or our User Agreement, which supersede and govern if there is any conflict or inconsistency with your terms or agreement with App Users.
You may receive notices or requests to remove User Content pursuant to our Content Policy. You will escalate these requests to Reddit by submitting the request here.
In addition, if any User Content is deleted, gains protected status, or is suspended, withheld, modified, or removed from the Services, you will delete or modify that User Content and, as applicable, related App Content (as defined below) as soon as possible after the applicable change to User Content on our Services or after a written request to do so is made by Reddit (or a User with regard to their User Content), unless prohibited by applicable law or regulation and with the express written permission of Reddit.
If your App contains App Content submitted or provided by App Users or other third parties, you must have an appropriate notice and takedown process and otherwise comply with all applicable laws and regulations to respond to notices of claimed infringement. For example, in the United States, you must comply with all requirements of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Depending on the nature of your App, Reddit may require it be run on the Developer Platform and hosted on servers operated by or on behalf of Reddit (the “Reddit Servers”). If Reddit determines your App must be hosted on Reddit Servers, then you and your App must comply with any Developer Documentation for the Reddit Servers made available by Reddit and grant Reddit the following rights (the “Developer License”):
You grant Reddit a non-exclusive, transferable, sublicensable, royalty-free, worldwide, revocable license to access, run, publicly display, and perform, distribute, reproduce, modify, host, translate, store, and otherwise use your App (and any data, information, software, code, technology, materials, or other first- or third-party content that you provide, add to the Services, or make available to Reddit or Users through your App or the Developer Services, including any content submitted, posted, or displayed by or through your App (collectively, “App Content”)), in connection with the Developer Platform, operating, developing, and providing our Services to Users, and promoting Reddit and the Services.
You also agree that, as part of your license to Reddit, Reddit may sublicense App Content to Users in the ordinary course to the extent necessary to produce, distribute, and operate the App and promote, market, and advertise the App, Reddit Services and Data, and Reddit.
After the Developer Terms are terminated, your license to Reddit will remain in effect with respect to App Content, and Users that are moderators may continue to access and use your App for a reasonable transition period.
If you exceed (or Reddit believes that you have attempted to circumvent) rate limits or other controls to limit use of the Developer Platform and Reddit Servers, then your App and your ability to use the Developer Platform and other Reddit Services and Data may be temporarily suspended or permanently blocked. Reddit may, at any time, in its sole discretion, elect to remove your App from the Developer Platform and Reddit Servers without notice to you.
Reddit reserves the right to charge fees for access and use of Reddit Services and Data, rates to be determined at Reddit’s sole discretion. Without our express written approval, you will not, and will not attempt to, or permit or enable others to (including through your App):
access or use any of the Reddit Services and Data by or on behalf of a business or as part of a service or product that is monetized; or
sell, lease, sublicense, monetize, or otherwise obtain or derive revenues of any kind from any portion of Reddit Services and Data, whether directly or indirectly, including from any data derived from the foregoing.
If you are interested in using the Reddit Services and Data for commercial purposes, research in excess of rate limits, or for any use that is not expressly permitted under the Developer Terms, you will need to enter into a separate agreement with Reddit.
For more information and examples of restricted commercial use, please review our Developer Documentation here.
You will not, and will not attempt to, or permit or enable others to (including through your App):
use the Reddit Services and Data to encourage or promote illegal activity or violation of third-party rights;
reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, translate, or otherwise derive source code, trade secrets, or know-how in or underlying the Reddit Services and Data, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable laws;
circumvent or exceed reasonable limitations on calls and use of Reddit Services and Data as Reddit may set in its sole discretion or as may be described in the Developer Documentation, or otherwise use Reddit Services and Data in a manner that Reddit believes constitutes excessive or abusive usage or that would disrupt or unreasonably interfere with Reddit Services and Data, including any servers, networks, or systems that provide the Reddit Services and Data;
misrepresent or mask how or why you are accessing or using the Reddit Services and Data;
interfere with, modify, disrupt, or disable features or functionality of any Reddit Services and Data, including any mechanism used to restrict or control functionality, or defeat, avoid, bypass, remove, deactivate, or otherwise circumvent any software protection or monitoring mechanism of the Reddit Services and Data;
use the Reddit Services and Data with the intent of introducing any viruses, worms, defects, Trojan horses, malware, or any other items of a destructive nature;
create derivative works of, copy, reproduce, redistribute, rent, lease, sell, or syndicate access to features or functionality of the Reddit Services and Data;
access or use the Reddit Services and Data through any means (including by accessing our API or indexing, caching, or crawling our Reddit Services and Data) to train large language, artificial intelligence, or other algorithmic models or related services without our permission; or
access or use the Reddit Services and Data for any illegal, unauthorized, or otherwise deceptive, unethical, false, misleading, or improper purpose, or to encourage or promote illegal activity or infringement or violation of third-party rights, including in any way that (a) does not comply with the Developer Terms, the Developer Documentation, and our User Agreement, (b) compromises, breaks, or circumvents any of Reddit’s technical processes or security measures, (c) poses a security vulnerability to Users, Reddit, Reddit Services and Data (including any related servers, networks, or systems), or any third party, (d) uses the Reddit Services and Data to spam, incentivize, or harass Users, Reddit, or any third party, or (e) uses the Reddit Services and Data for law enforcement or surveillance purposes.
For purposes of the Developer Terms:
“IP” means all technology and intellectual property, in any form, including: (a) published and unpublished works of authorship, including audiovisual works, collective works, computer programs (including source code and object code), compilations, databases, derivative works, and literary works, (b) inventions and discoveries, improvements, machines, methods, and processes, (c) trademarks and trade names, and (d) information that is not generally known or readily ascertainable through proper means, including customer lists, ideas, and know-how.
“IP Rights” means all rights in, arising out of, or associated with any IP in any jurisdiction, including patent rights, copyrights, trademark rights, rights in Confidential Information (as defined below), rights associated with a person’s name, voice, signature, photograph, or likeness, including rights of personality, privacy, and publicity, moral rights, and rights associated with domain names.
You and Reddit acknowledge that you own all right, title, and interest in your App, and Reddit owns all right, title, and interest in the Reddit Services and Data, Developer Documentation, Reddit Trademarks, Reddit Confidential Information (as defined below), any other IP and IP Rights of Reddit, and any derivative works of any of the foregoing.
You acknowledge and agree that the Reddit Services and Data, Developer Documentation, and Reddit Trademarks (the “Reddit Licensed Materials”) may include third-party content and you will comply with any requirements or restrictions imposed on usage of any third-party content by their respective owners. The Reddit Licensed Materials are licensed, not sold. Except to the extent stated otherwise in the Developer Terms, Reddit retains and reserves any and all worldwide right, title, and interest in the foregoing that are not granted in the Developer Terms.
You represent and warrant that you have obtained and will maintain all necessary rights to any software, code, materials, or other intellectual property owned by a third party that is utilized in your App (including if you have used any large language, artificial intelligence, machine learning, algorithmic, and other models or services in the creation of your App) and that are necessary to grant Reddit the Developer License and all other licenses, permissions, and other rights in the Developer Terms, without any accreditation terms or access conditions that will be breached by the operation of your App.
User Content is owned by Users and not by Reddit. You will comply with any requirements or restrictions imposed on usage of User Content by their respective owners, which may include “all rights reserved” notices, Creative Commons licenses, or other terms and conditions that may be agreed upon between you and the owners. Except for the Reddit License, no other rights or licenses are granted or implied, including any right to use User Content for other purposes, such as for training a machine learning or artificial intelligence model, without the express permission of rightsholders in the applicable User Content.
You agree to provide attribution of User Content in your App by providing a link back to the User Content on our Services, cite the applicable User’s username, and clearly indicate that the User Content is from our Services in accordance with our Brand Guidelines and Press Guidelines. You also agree to display any additional attribution required by Reddit as described in the Developer Documentation.
Except for permitted use of Reddit Trademarks under the Reddit License for attribution purposes, you are not permitted to use the Reddit Trademarks in the name of your App or to promote or identify your App (including in any materials related to your App), without Reddit’s prior written consent. You also agree not to:
create any derivative works of the Reddit Trademarks that may create or reasonably imply Reddit’s endorsement, association, or sponsorship of your App;
use the Reddit Trademarks in a way that would mislead, deceive, or confuse users, including using or registering any mark that is confusingly similar to any Reddit Trademarks; or
challenge Reddit’s ownership of the Reddit Trademarks.
You will not take any action inconsistent with Reddit’s ownership of the Reddit Trademarks. You agree to cooperate with Reddit in any action (including legal proceedings) which Reddit deems necessary or desirable to establish or preserve Reddit’s exclusive rights in and to the Reddit Trademarks. All use of the Reddit Trademarks and all goodwill arising out of such use will inure to Reddit’s benefit.
You agree to display any attributions required by Reddit described in the Developer Terms and Developer Documentation. You will not make any statement regarding your use of Reddit Licensed Materials which suggests partnership with, sponsorship by, or endorsement by Reddit, without Reddit's prior written approval.
If you provide any suggestions, comments, or other feedback regarding the Reddit Licensed Materials or Reddit Services and Data, then you grant Reddit the right to freely use, disclose, reproduce, license, distribute, and otherwise commercialize the suggestions, comments, and feedback in any of Reddit’s IP or IP Rights.
You represent, warrant, acknowledge, and agree that:
you are eligible to access and use the Reddit Licensed Materials in accordance with Reddit’s eligibility criteria under the Developer Terms and have, before agreeing to the Developer Terms, read and understood the implications of the Developer Terms;
you will only access (or attempt to access) and use Reddit Services and Data through Access Info that is authorized and made available to you by Reddit in accordance with and subject to the Developer Terms and our Developer Documentation;
neither your App nor your access to nor use of any Reddit Services and Data will infringe, misappropriate, or otherwise violate the rights of any third party (including any IP Rights or other proprietary rights);
you have obtained and will maintain all necessary rights to any software, code, materials, or other IP owned by a third party that is utilized in your App or App Content and that are necessary to grant Reddit the Developer License and all other licenses, permissions, and other rights in the Developer Terms, and you have obtained those rights without violating any laws and without any accreditation terms or access conditions that will be breached by the operation of your App or use of the App Content; and
you are not and will not be violating any laws, rules, or regulations in granting the licenses under the Developer Terms, accessing or using the Reddit Services and Data, or otherwise performing your obligations under the Developer Terms.
Reddit may require you to provide additional information and documents in certain circumstances, for example, if we receive a request from a government authority, as any applicable law or regulation dictates, or to investigate a potential violation of the Developer Terms. Reddit reserves the right to, in its discretion, disable your Account, de-list your App, and block your ability to access Reddit Services and Data until the requested information and documents are processed by Reddit. If you do not provide complete and accurate information in response to our request, then Reddit may refuse to re-list your App or restore your access to the Reddit Services and Data.
You will comply with all applicable privacy and data protection laws and regulations, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and privacy Directive, the UK General Data Protection Regulation, and Brazil’s Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD). You agree to cooperate with Reddit in order to comply with applicable laws and regulations.
Your App Users must understand and consent to (if applicable) how you use their data, including how you access, collect, store, retain, transmit, share, and otherwise process it. Before any App User downloads, installs, or otherwise signs up for your App or your App uses App User data, you will make available and adhere to a privacy policy for your App that is compliant with all applicable privacy and data protection laws and relevant app store policies and fully, accurately, and clearly describes to App Users what data you collect, how you use, store, and share data, and how users can request deletion of their collected data.
You may only use Reddit Services and Data in accordance with your privacy policy, applicable laws and regulations, and the Developer Terms. You agree that your privacy policy may not and will not supersede, modify, or be inconsistent with the Developer Terms, our User Agreement, or our Privacy Policy, which will supersede if there is any conflict or inconsistency with your App’s privacy policy. You will, as applicable, maintain publicly available, up-to-date links to your App’s privacy policy on the Developer Platform. In addition, by using Reddit Services and Data, Reddit may use submitted information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You will not share Reddit Services and Data with any third party, except, subject to compliance with the Developer Terms, to the extent required under applicable law or regulation.
Except to the extent you are required to retain Reddit Services and Data under applicable law or regulation, you will promptly update the Reddit Services and Data upon Reddit’s request and delete any Reddit Services and Data in your possession or control when:
retaining it is no longer necessary for your App’s stated and approved functionality that is permitted under the Developer Terms;
you stop operating your App (whether on your own, due to an enforcement action by Reddit, or otherwise);
Reddit requests you delete it;
the applicable App User requests you delete it; or
required by applicable laws or regulations.
You will provide App Users with an easily accessible way to request for their App Content to be modified and deleted. If you receive any Reddit Licensed Materials in error, you will immediately notify Reddit, delete it, and provide proof of deletion at Reddit's request.
You will maintain the security of the Reddit Licensed Materials. Except as expressly permitted under the Developer Terms, you will not share or make available to a third party any Access Info to the Reddit Services and Data or any other Reddit Licensed Materials. You will also use commercially reasonable efforts to protect Reddit Services and Data from unauthorized access or use (including destruction, loss, alteration, disclosure, distribution, or other compromise), including encryption of the data at rest. You will maintain administrative, physical, and technical safeguards that are designed to prevent unauthorized access and use and comply with applicable laws and regulations, including relating to data security and privacy (for example, implementing controls to delete data and limit data storage). You will use industry-standard security measures to prevent unauthorized access or use of any of the features and functionality of the Reddit Services and Data, including access by viruses, worms, or any other harmful code or material. Except as expressly permitted under the Developer Terms, you will keep the Reddit Services and Data and any other Reddit Licensed Materials confidential and secure from unauthorized access by using industry-standard organizational and technical safeguards for the data, and with no less care than you use in connection with securing similar data you store.
You will immediately notify Reddit and provide any information reasonably requested by Reddit if you know of or suspect any incidents of unauthorized access or breach of security, potential vulnerability, or incidents that are reasonably likely to compromise the security, confidentiality, or integrity of your systems (or the systems of those acting on your behalf) that process or relate to the Reddit Services and Data. In the event of any of the foregoing incidents, you will consult and cooperate with Reddit, assist with any required notices, keep Reddit regularly updated about the incident, and immediately remedy any breach or potential vulnerability resulting from your access to the Reddit Services and Data.
Reddit may immediately terminate or suspend the Developer Terms, any rights granted in the Developer Terms, or the Reddit License, at any time, for any or no reason, by providing notice to you.
You may terminate the Developer Terms at any time and for any reason by providing notice to us and discontinuing your access to and use of all Reddit Licensed Materials.
Upon termination of the Developer Terms: (a) all licenses granted to you in the Developer Terms (including the Reddit License) immediately expire and you must stop using all Reddit Licensed Materials; and (b) you will permanently delete all Reddit Licensed Materials in your control or possession.
Reddit will have no obligation to provide the Reddit Licensed Materials to you or allow you to access them after termination of the Developer Terms. However, the Developer License to Reddit will survive termination with respect to App Content, and Users that are moderators may continue to access and use your App through the Developer Platform for a reasonable transition period.
Sections 2.2 (Additional Terms), 3.5 (Content Removal), 5 (Intellectual Property), 7.1 (Privacy Compliance), 7.3 (Data Sharing and Retention), 8.2 (Effect of Termination), 9 (Disclaimer; Limitation of Liability; Indemnity), and 10 (Miscellaneous) will also survive termination of the Developer Terms.
Reddit does not represent or warrant that the Reddit Licensed Materials are free of inaccuracies, errors, bugs, or interruptions, or are reliable, accurate, complete, or otherwise valid. The Reddit Licensed Materials are provided “as is” with no warranty of any kind, and Reddit expressly disclaims any and all warranties and conditions, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, security, title, or non-infringement. Your use of the Reddit Licensed Materials is at your own discretion and risk, and you will be solely responsible for any damage that results from the use of any Reddit Licensed Materials, including any damage to your computer system or loss of data.
By accessing and using Reddit Licensed Materials, you agree that the liability of any Reddit entities and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, licensors, and other representatives (collectively, the “Reddit Parties”) will be limited to the maximum extent permissible by applicable law.
The Reddit Parties will not be liable for any incidental, indirect, special, punitive, consequential, or similar damages or liabilities arising out of or in connection with the Developer Terms, whether under contract, tort (including negligence), civil liability, statute, strict liability, breach of warranties, or any other theory of liability, and whether any Reddit Parties have been advised of, knew of, or should have known of the possibility of the damages, and notwithstanding any failure of the essential purpose of, or any limited remedy under, the Developer Terms.
In no event will the aggregate liability of the Reddit Parties arising out of or in connection with the Developer Terms, under any theory of liability, exceed $100.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Reddit Parties, their licensors, and Users from all costs, liabilities, and expenses (including attorneys’ fees) incurred by any of the foregoing in connection with any claims, lawsuits, or causes of action (“Claims”) by a third party arising out of or in any way relating to: (a) your App or App Content; (b) your breach of the Developer Terms; or (c) your access to or use of any Reddit Licensed Materials. We reserve the right to control the defense of any matter for which you are required to indemnify us, and you agree to cooperate with our defense of the Claims.
Our communications to you and our Reddit Licensed Materials may contain Reddit Confidential Information. “Confidential Information” includes any information disclosed by Reddit to you in writing that is marked as confidential at the time of disclosure, or that would normally be understood to be confidential given the nature of the information or the circumstances surrounding its disclosure.
You agree to hold Confidential Information in confidence and protect it by using the same degree of care to prevent its unauthorized use, dissemination, or publication that you use to protect your own confidential information of a similar nature (but no less than reasonable care).
Confidential Information excludes any information which: (a) is or becomes public knowledge through no fault on your part; (b) is rightfully received by you from a third party without any duty of confidentiality; (c) is disclosed under operation of law; or (d) is disclosed with the prior written approval of Reddit. Reddit retains all IP Rights in Confidential Information disclosed to you.
Reddit may make changes to the Developer Terms or the Developer Documentation from time to time. If we make changes, we will post the revised Developer Terms. If the changes, in our sole discretion, are material, we may also notify you by sending an email to the address associated with your Account (if you have chosen to provide an email address), an email to the address you otherwise provided to us in connection the Developer Services, or by otherwise providing you with notice through the Services. By continuing to access or use the Developer Services or any other Reddit Licensed Material after the Developer Terms are revised, you agree to be bound by the revised Developer Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Developer Terms, you must stop accessing and using the Developer Services and any other Reddit Licensed Materials. Please review the Developer Terms for any changes; it is your responsibility to do so.
If you have an issue or dispute, you agree to raise it and try to resolve it with us informally. You can contact us with feedback and concerns here.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, any Claims arising out of or relating to the Reddit Licensed Materials or the Developer Terms will be governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
All disputes related to the Reddit Licensed Materials or the Developer Terms that are unable to be resolved informally will be brought solely in the federal or state courts located in San Francisco, California, and you and Reddit consent to personal jurisdiction in these courts.
By agreeing to the Developer Terms and accessing and using the Reddit Licensed Materials, you agree to receive communications from us or communications related to the Developer Terms and Reddit Licensed Materials at your Account or at any of the email addresses provided to Reddit by you or on your behalf. Communications from Reddit Parties may include operational communications concerning your access and use of Reddit Licensed Materials, updates concerning requested changes to your App or changes to Reddit Licensed Materials, communications concerning marketing or promotions run by us or our third-party partners, and news concerning Reddit and industry developments. If you change or deactivate the email address you provided to Reddit, you agree to update your Account information.
IF YOU WISH TO OPT OUT OF PROMOTIONAL EMAILS, YOU CAN UNSUBSCRIBE FROM OUR PROMOTIONAL EMAIL LIST BY FOLLOWING THE UNSUBSCRIBE OPTIONS IN THE PROMOTIONAL EMAIL ITSELF.
All notices or communications of any kind made or required to be given in connection with the Developer Terms and Reddit Licensed Materials will be in writing and will be sent to your Account or to the email address associated with your Account through the Developer Services or other Services.
The Reddit Licensed Materials were developed solely at private expense and are commercial computer software and related documentation within the meaning of the applicable U.S. Federal Acquisition Regulation and related agency supplements. You will comply with all applicable foreign, federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, including laws relating to bribery and corruption. Use of Reddit Licensed Materials may be subject to U.S. export laws and the import and use laws of the country where Reddit Licensed Materials are delivered or used. You agree to abide by these laws. Under these laws, Reddit Licensed Materials may not be sold, leased, downloaded, moved, exported, re-exported, or transferred across borders without a license, or approval from the relevant government authority: (a) to any country or to any foreign national restricted by these laws, including countries embargoed by the U.S. Government; (b) to any restricted or denied end-user, including any person or entity prohibited by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control; or (c) for any restricted end-use. You will maintain all registrations and licenses that are required with respect to your App and App Content.
Reddit may assign any of its rights and obligations under the Developer Terms. You may not assign, sublicense, or delegate any of your rights or obligations under the Developer Terms (including any sale, license, or other transfer of ownership of your App) to any third party without Reddit’s prior written consent. Any assignment, delegation, or transfer in violation of this paragraph is void.
In order to access and use the Reddit Licensed Materials, you acknowledge and agree that you have had adequate opportunity to review, reflect upon, and consider the Developer Terms and fully understand and voluntarily agree to the Developer Terms. You also acknowledge and agree that you have received, or had the opportunity to receive, independent legal advice from attorneys of your choosing regarding the advisability of entering the Developer Terms.
Your access and use of Reddit Licensed Materials and your acceptance of the Developer Terms does not constitute an agency, partnership, or joint venture between you and Reddit. Unless expressly stated, the Developer Terms do not confer any benefits on any third party.
The Developer Terms are non-exclusive. You acknowledge that Reddit may develop products or services that may compete with, or are similar to, your App or any other products or services.
Headings are used in the Developer Terms for reference only and will not be considered when interpreting them. For purposes of the Developer Terms: (a) the words “include,” “includes,” and “including” will be deemed to be followed by the words “without limitation;” (b) the words “such as,” “for example,” “e.g.,” and any derivatives of those words will mean by way of example and the items that follow these words will not be deemed an exhaustive list; and (c) the word “or” is used in the inclusive sense of “and/or” and the terms “or,” “any,” and “either” are not exclusive. No ambiguity will be construed against any party based on a claim that the party drafted the language.
In the event that any provision of the Developer Terms or the application of any provision of the Developer Terms is held to be contrary to law, invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be given effect to the greatest extent possible, and the remaining provisions of the Developer Terms will remain in full force and effect.
The Developer Terms are a legally-binding agreement between you and Reddit and contain the entire agreement of the parties with respect to the subject matter of the Reddit Licensed Materials and supersede all previous communications, representations, understandings, and agreements, either oral or written, between the parties with respect to said subject matter, including previous versions of the Developer Terms.
If you have any questions about the Developer Terms, please contact us.
