Well, I think they had to be there. They don't have to agree with what a group is saying in order to be called upon to protect them.

I hate that Ziosk devices that Chili's and Olive Garden shove onto every table. No, I really don't want commercials on my dinner table.

Back in the day, they'd give you a sweet Ford mixtape, even if you bought a used car.

Don't go and trust cloud services 100%. I've had one lose files on me before. The cloud is just someone else's computer.

No, not that one.

Found this book at Goodwill and the message is super cute but also sad. by threefingersplease in ghibli

One of the last things an uncle gave me before he passed was a fishing pole and a Joel Osteen book.

I've never used the fishing pole, but I've kept it because it's both sentimental and useful. I ended up tossing the Osteen after a few years.

Oddly enough, I bought a used book from Goodwill through Amazon, and when it arrived, it was already made out to my son's name!

Microsoft eyes partnership with Firefox to make Bing its primary search engine by all_of_the_lightss in firefox

You don't suppose that if Microsoft liked Firefox enough, they might switch from Blink to Gecko, do you? That could level the playing field a bit, but I don't ever expect to see that.

I missed when ExpressMail disappeared. Either that, or I partly forgot it. I do remember those silver-blue-red boxes, though.

Ultimately pretty clever once they got a design that worked: give it a repaint every once in a while.

When somebody gets some kind of body part transplant they have to take medication to keep their body from rejecting it. Does their body ever acclimate to the transplant, or are these medications a lifelong necessity? by NonEuclideanGal in askscience

Really, a hard shutdown for 2 weeks would have really gotten ahead. That's only 4% of the year. I lost more work than that, even though I was lucky and had a job still.

I think I snagged mine for something like $125 on an Amazon Warehouse deal. Spare tires are more expensive.

Indy Star: Indianapolis Motor Speedway will block local live viewership of Indy 500 on Peacock, blacking out race by Tikkanen in indianapolis

When I lived there in the 80s and 90s, that was common practice. NFL does it too in most cities. Usually it's a local blackout until tickets sell out.

Curtmfg.com sells some of the best hitches. Got one for my Lincoln MKT, and it works wonderfully. Double so for the wiring harness. There aren't a lot of options for my car.

The flip side is this also diverts GOP finding. This was their largest safe state, and last time they had to spend millions to defend it. In that regard, one small win would be drawing them to spend more in Texas than we do.

I went with the Pro 2. You can still get an adapter to put it inside the glass, but I'm going with a 5x duplicator chassis and moving all the drives outside my PC.
