  2. Holy shit your comment hit really close to home. Thank you for that lesson I needed to learn. My only son lost his battle with depression. I focus so much on the bleakness of it that I forget to see what my husband and I have been able to do for others struggling, because we’ve been there and don’t want anybody else to. And you’re right, I would have him again given the choice.

I’m starting to realize that there are movies that I’ve tied to the memories of watching them with loved ones I have lost or remembering happier times and I can’t watch them anymore. Ghost story was the last movie I watched with one of my best friends/ex lover before he died (he collapsed in the middle of a press event announcing that his first feature film would finally start filming, after years of securing funding and writing furiously). The funny thing is he recommended this one to help me work through my own grief. That cathartic sadness.
