Good horror movies to watch that are new or a few years old by Difficult-Mouse-2819 in MovieSuggestions

Hereditary! Probably my favorite horror movie of all time at this point.

Was not expecting this movie to be as good as it was. Still think about it.

Exclusive: Second Alien Series In Development Would Bring Back Two Key Movie Characters by thatbrownkid19 in LV426

This would be super cool. I loved Prometheus and Covenant so I would like for Scott to finish his story.

After Dread and Prime Remastered's success, and the likely inevitable success of Prime 4 assuming they don't fuck up marketing, I think it's very likely that Nintendo will soon be making it one of their core franchises. by Own-Platform310 in Metroid

[–]GhostMug [score hidden]  (0 children)

Has it not always been a core franchise? Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, Pokemon are all core franchises, I think. Metroid may not get as many new games but they get one one for every gen.

This would be an easy game to kick out for a company that needs products and the just ignore KI. Sad.

Home prices are declining in 75% of major US cities by teehugss in Economics

[–]GhostMug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late 30's, very respectable combined income and can't make it work either. Been at it for 2+ years and every house in our price range is gone in a day at $50k-$60k over asking and people waiving inspection and appraisal. It's an emotional rollercoaster and the only emotion is depression. We currently own our home, which is good but we can't sell it cause we would have nowhere to live.

I can't believe they are putting this game on Switch.

[Sheeran] Former Bills WR Isaiah McKenzie on playoff loss to Bengals: "If we were in a dome it would have been a totally different game" by ill_try_my_best in nfl

[–]GhostMug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe. But to me the Bengals seemed like they were clearly the better team. They dominated that game and the game earlier in the season they looked like they were on their way to dominating before Demar Hamlin's injury. I think the Bengals are just a bad matchup for the Bills, as they are for nearly every team.

KC coyotes has a nice ring to it! @NHL what y’all think? by isthattrulyneeded in kansascity

[–]GhostMug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can definitely see what you're saying, but I will have to disagree. Mahomes is one of the biggest stars on the planet right now. His involvement in anything means something. And if the NHL can possibly have the biggest star from the biggest sport give them free publicity then they will definitely take that info consideration. I don't think it's enough to get it done, but I do think it moves the needle.

If the problem is "everyone who has a prolonged absence that goes on for months has to be treated the same" that's not really a problem, IMO. This isn't something that happens every day.

Do you collect for value or just fun? by HillHouse2 in funkopop

For fun. It's cool to see if some of my collection is really valuable but I don't really ever plan on going through the effort to sell.

[–]GhostMug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true. Some adults are just children when it comes to this sort of thing but a lot of it is also culture. Based on this memo it appears the culture set by this company is "the company won't do anything, help if you want." If that's the culture they've established then I would expect many to complain. But if they had previously set a culture if helping people who need, I would expect much less of an issue.

[–]GhostMug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I never said it was about and NHL team specifically. My comment of "I don't know if KC can support" was meant to account for all the things you said.

But I actually did see something interesting the other day when this first cropped up that the actual legitimate infrastructure for having an NHL team isn't here. Like being able to get the proper amount of ice sheets, etc. I know nothing about all that but they laid out an interesting argument that needs to be considered.

From experience in business I've just very rarely seen this type of thing occur. So the odds that it would happen multiple times and not be treated similarly is relatively small. If somebody see them helping out a person who is physically unable to work and equates that to them the flu or something then that person is pretty tone deaf and likely looking for an excuse for a fight or to just get mad. And if that causes them to leave then I don't really want them at my company anyway.

Also, it's not as though the CEO has to publicize this. They can very easily just keep paying the person without sending a company memo about it.

Kansas City Expansion Team Names by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]GhostMug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't like the name "Scouts". I get that it's tradition but it's kinda boring.

I like the idea of having some traditional element in KCs history. Jazz is already taken but some riff in that would be really cool. It would especially be cool to have a musical name to play off the STL rivaly. The KC Big Band is lame but it's at least something. The KC Swing? The KC Fusion? The KC Stride? All variations of Jazz music that could play on the city theme and history.

Also, I believe KC has historically been a big freight center for train hauling? Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong but something like the KC Freight Train or something to that effect could be interesting. And a badass screaming train logo could look really cool.

I'm cool with sticking with the "royalty" theme but I would shy away from any version that can be traced back to any sort of ethnic group so Pharaohs and Czsars are non-starters for me. Needs to be generic like Emperor's or something. Generals might work to play up the Eisenhower connection, even though the team wouldn't be in Kansas.

If they were to stick with the classic animal/generic character route I like Wolves/Wolfpack (though I feel like that would be better for the Chiefs if they ever changed their name), the Dragons, the Soldiers (to align with the WWI museum/Liberty memorial), the Bluebirds (state bird), the Bees (state insect), and I'm out of many other ideas.

This is no derision against you but I don't believe in the slippery slope argument. We're all humans and adults here. Exceptions can be made. They clearly know this person really needs help. If somebody tries to take advantage of this they can be fired.

You are right in that this is a problem that permeates America. This is a letter signed by the President & CEO. They could easily just decide to give this person more PTO or keep paying them or whatever. The problem that makes this more of an American thing is that the CEO seems to think their hands are tied and they have to push this burden on to their employees when they really dont. If paying this person's salary for a few extra weeks/months without their productivity would endanger this company's future then they are not a good company.

Agreed. Movie was kinda ahead of it's time. Feels like it would be better served by today's audience than in the 80's.

You could actually check out something called "Dracula Daily". It takes the letters in Dracula and sends them to you via email on the dates that correspond with the dates in the book. I've already read the book but it's also fun to do it this way.
