Whats the dumbest thing you’ve seem said in this sub (minus this post) this year? by LionsSchemer in detroitlions

It's also dumb because it's not allowed. You can't block a coordinator for interviewing for HC.

I think other NFC North fans do actually hate us by [deleted] in detroitlions

[–]sosuhme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is literally backlash every time a team gets hyped above their record. The degree tends to vary based on a few things, but how vocal the fans of that particular team are tends to be one of the major factors. We, as a fan base, haven't exactly been low-key in our response to the hype. We talk a lot. We're excited, it makes sense, but we also don't have any history to stand on for takes about us winning the division.

Realistically, I think it makes sense that we are expected to by most analysts, although lately Vikings have gained a fair amount on us in that front. But you don't have to look very far to find cockiness where it's probably premature and undeserved.

(Rappaport)The NFL has passed a new rule instituting all fair catches and touchbacks come out to the 25-yard line on kickoffs.. by Corpsicle_xx in detroitlions

[–]sosuhme 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I suspect they wanted to make it gradual to appease fans.

If they had come right out and said we are abolishing kickoffs 10 years ago, the fan uproar would have been massive. Instead they've just had several minor blowups that didn't really affect anything.

How much good will does your QB have? by frogger3344 in nfl

No argument at all. Assuming he's going to have another good year is where the blinders get put on.

The alternative was massively overpaying draft capital to move up in a highly questionable draft class. There are definitely some Lions fans who are choosing to stick their head in the sand but realize that is intentional on most of their part because the alternative to Goff for this year was much worse.

Does anyone else have any personal grudge matches on the schedule this year? by CevapiPapi04 in detroitlions

[–]sosuhme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They didn't do us dirty as a team. As an organization they did us dirty due to field conditions. Both teams were playing on the same field tho. How much homefield advantage came from the team being prepared for the conditions is up for debate also tho.

How long can a bike be safely locked up? (near Amtrak/GTC) by EZ-75 in fargo

Crime in general? Probably not. Bike theft, however, has been a plague on Downtown Fargo for at least the last 15 years.

Entering into year 3 Ja'Marr Chase is still the youngest WR on the Bengals roster including the new rookies. by ralry11 in nfl

This is a little pedantic, so for that, sorry. But generational talent implies once in a generation. Justin Jefferson is from the same generation. Less than a year apart.

Generational talent seems to be losing meaning in the same way that "elite" has over the last 20 years.

Again, sorry for being a pedant, I can't help it.

It feels like Canadian forest fire season pretty early this year.

Who was a non-1st round player your team drafted that you thought was going to be great and ended up busting? by DoesntMatterBrian in nfl

[–]sosuhme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on definition of bust.

Best, Swift, LeShoure, and others could all be said not to busts if injury issues didn't make them so.

Swift wasn't able to make a difference often enough for his draft position.

The concussion history was definitely a concern. One that wouldn't have been overlooked as much today.

That said, in his time in the league, it was actually a random turf toe injury he got his rookie year that hampered him the most on the field.

Fargo was so weird in the early 00s. Their grand opening was a huge event. I had to be there for a performance thing. They literally had a highschool show choir(granted that group performed at a lot of local events back then) performing inside the business that was packed wall to wall.

I have a hard time imagining it was a pleasant experience for anyone, definitely not me, and I can't imagine for the employees.

I started watching the Lions specifically around 2006. 2008 was the tipping point to me actually becoming a Lions fan. Which... Probably says a lot about my personality.

All the RBs.

Or basically anyone the Lions have drafted in the 2nd round other than Slay and Delmas in my time as a fan.

places to get furniture in Fargo that will deliver and set up in home by Traditional-Comb-302 in fargo

[–]sosuhme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought furniture including dressers and a bed frame. The bed frame wasnt in stock for a couple weeks, no big deal.

The dudes who delivered the dressers were hilarious, but somewhat inept. They didn't even need to do any assembly, but it took them a long time. Very foul mouthed too, which doesn't bother me at all, but was notable.

Dudes who delivered and assembled the bed frame a few weeks later were in and out in less than 15 minutes. I mentioned how much smoother it was than the last group. Dude was like, yeah, they aren't they A-Team.

Hahaha. I was happy with my experience with Unclaimed, I just found the whole thing amusing. I assume they contract that work out to more than one company.

I understand the idea, but if all the theaters that can't survive without concessions sales died out... You'd have a hard time ever seeing a movie in a theater again.

Not suggesting it's a great system. Just that whenever I see these libertarian ideals they frequently don't consider the consequences.

[NBC Sports] Hairline finger fracture forced Trey Lance to change his throwing grip after the injury did not heal properly. The injury has proved to be a bigger hindrance than his catastrophic lower body injury. by wearymaps0 in nfl

[–]sosuhme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm from Fargo and while I don't pay close attention to NDSU sports, I was definitely aware of Lance, Stick, and Wentz. My feeling was always that none of them were ever likely to be surrounded by the level of talent they had at NDSU(compared to competition). I looked stupid for a minute when Wentz took off, but over time I think my take has held up.

I'd much rather draft an OL from NDSU than a QB.

I was excited for Patricia. Even hoped we'd hire him a year before we actually did. I've tried to do my penance, but I'm not sure I'll ever be forgiven.
