These teachers won't be teaching Islam.

Your comment is like saying we shouldn't hire an Asian because they're a a Buddhist.

You can still higher a Catholic teacher they just aren't supposed to teach religion.

Opinion: We can’t ignore the fact that some mentally ill people do need to be in institutions

As someone that was arbitrarily detained by the police in a psych ward of a hospital for 2 months. I'd say the last thing we need is to be locking up more people against their will.

These institutions are ripe with human rights abuses and failure to be able to obtain contrary medical opinion needed to free you. The history of field psychological in contexts of mental hospitals is quite dark as well.

What we need is better access to legal aid to help get people out of these hospitals as many can't afford a lawyer. Yes I'm sure there's some violent people that need to be locked up. But please don't pretend more people need to be locked up. We need to be taking better care of those that are and give them avenues to be released and reenter society.
