Was I justified to choke this dude out? Was I justified to choke this dude out?
MMA

I have never been in a fight before in my life. I am a white belt in BJJ, with one year of basic training. I am a quiet reserved guy that doesn’t look for trouble. I go to the gym and attend BJJ classes three times a week for fitness and recreational purposes. However, approx 3 weeks ago some friends came over, and we were in the backyard playing music at a normal volume level, and just having a good time when one of my neighbours came over and started yelling at everyone to keep it down, and mind you, it’s 3pm on a Saturday and the noise level was normal. We apologized and said we’ll keep it down. He left and all was good, or so we thought. 1 hour goes by and he comes back yelling and swearing at us that we are all too loud still. I said to him that we are doing nothing wrong and I asked him to leave because he had no right barging into my backyard. He refused to leave and when one of my friends went up to him and said to leave, my neighbour pushed him down, and at that point, I don’t know what happened, but my adrenaline must have kicked in, and I managed to take him down to the ground and gift wrap him telling him to calm down. He refused to calm down and he became more angry and aggressive, and I warned him to stop one more time. He would not calm down, so I transitioned to a rear naked choke and put put him in a body triangle trapping one of his arms. I warned him to get off my property or I will choke him out, but he kept swearing at me, so I applied more pressure and said, “good night” to him. As he struggled, he started tapping my shoulder with his other arm, however, I ignored his tap and he went to sleep within about 10 seconds. At that point, I let go of my grip and he started to convulse which worried me a bit, however, he woke up not long afterwards. He got up and said he will be pressing charges against me for choking him unconscious and for attempted murder and assault. This all happened on my own property in my backyard. I feel guilty for choking him out, but I noticed now that when he sees me, he quickly avoids me and he no longer bothers me and my girlfriend and other friends when when they come over and play music. He said he was going to call the police that day, but no cops came by my house. The guy was probably in his 40’s and was a heavyset dude with a lot of tattoos.

Was I right or wrong to choke him out like that especially when he was tapping out? I appreciate any feedback given. Thanks!
