Holy shit. That car is totaled 😵‍💫

[–]deathbyswampass 176 points177 points  (19 children)

It’s a battery at this point rip.

[–]PaintMysterious717 47 points48 points  (16 children)

They could literally just take that battery and put it in a new chaise…

[–]hbsboak 123 points124 points  (10 children)

A chaise is a type of sofa or chair.

[–]deathbyswampass 52 points53 points  (5 children)

No, I added ‘chaise’ to my build + $2,500

[–]Affectionate_Pay_391 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m looking for the Plaid Chaise model S

[–]spaetzelspiff 10 points11 points  (2 children)

And put wheels on the chaise...

[–]CT_7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You say that now but we just finished a 3 month fight with USAA to get my wife’s car totaled. In Alabama there is a 75% market value threshold and our initial repair estimate from the collision center was right at the 75% mark.

Usaa and the body shop manager went back and forth for a couple weeks as USAA wanted them to put on used parts to rebuild the frame and the body shop guy said Volvo won’t allow that. That and a few other things they found after the initial tear down pushed the damage past the 75% mark (was going to be about 25k in damage repairs on a 31k car.)

We finally got paid and moved on (bought another Volvo lol)

[–]Suspicious-Appeal386 28 points29 points  (31 children)

Been with USAA for over 30+ years wife and I, they really have gone to shit the last 6 years or so. Rapid down hill.

[–]No-Jello3256 7 points8 points  (21 children)

For real. I lived overseas for a while and never had any problems with them. But always noticed people complaining about them. Moved back to the states and really started to notice how bad things really were from 2020 to now.

I’ve already started to consider switching to Navy Fed and GEICO. We’ll see how they do.

[–]drskeme 3 points4 points  (14 children)

what insurance do people recommend? let’s start there, any positive experiences or have all companies regressed?

[–]magyarjm 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Westfield was really easy to work with and did the common sense thing through an entire roof repair due to damage. The agent there was super accessible and even took a while to give me general tips on selecting a contractor and contract language to be aware of.

[–]FlashFlood_29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stay the hell away from Progressive is all I can say. Most collision repair shops around me don't even work with progressive insurance cause they're so shit. Their agent assigned to me completely went silent in the middle of a claim process. Had to work with claims manager rest of the way through who was awesome actually. Thankfully they weren't my insurance but the person that rear ended me.

[–]Upset_Title 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I fight insurance companies every day. Amica, Chubb, AAA, Shelter, and a few others are the only ones who are fair. State Farm is the best out of the bigger companies. Ultimately comes down to what shop you use and whether they can educate you enough to invoke the appraisal clause, or get an assignment of benefits and sue the insurance companies on your behalf. It’s a fight for fair with most of these companies

[–]SleepyHobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

StateFarm also charges astronomically high premiums. 4x the lowest offer I received. Easy to believe they're easier to work with then they charge their customers hand over fist.

[–]RonSeaFly 4 points5 points  (4 children)

GEICO has gone down hill as well (had them for a long time .

[–]keepcrazy 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Wait!! Was geico ever been anything but the worst??

[–]GeologistPositive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a Geico policy holder, but someone with Geico hit me once. Geico was relatively easy to deal with and didn't give me a lot of BS. I dealt with them directly rather than going through my insurance since fault was very clear in this accident. They accepted liability quickly and were responsive when I had questions.

[–]FastRedPonyCar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. We’ve gone through 4 claims with them. 3 auto and 1 home and every experience was horrible.

Seriously considering jumping ship at least for auto. Even if we have to pay more, if it means a better experience when something happens, it may be worth it. At this point, we dread getting in an accident just because of the run around we know we’ll get from USAA.

[–]gosabres 1 point2 points  (1 child)

At the risk of sounding like a shill for USAA, we had 2 claims in with them last winter. Wind damage to a fence and a box truck crashed on our lawn. Clearly not at fault for either but they paid out quickly and generously.

[–]thekoreanmang 4 points5 points  (16 children)

How would volvo not allow that? I don't think auto manufacturers can dictate that sort of thing due to franchise law.

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (7 children)

Volvo can void the warranty if parts are sub-par…

[–]iLoveCalculus314 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fuck yeah Volvo

[–]AgreeableDouglas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same on a BMW electronic steering box. If you have a front end collision you must replace the steering box or BMW won’t warrant - fought State Farm 3 months over that.

[–]TeamImpulseX 4 points5 points  (1 child)

They have position statements to avoid lawsuits from crap repairs. Do you really want frame parts off a car that’s in a junk yard? Why do you think it’s in a junkyard? Likely a severe accident. How are cars treated in junk yards? Picked up and moved by fork lifts or dragged by tow trucks. There is no way to test the structural integrity of the part hence the posistion statement.

[–]thekoreanmang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very true. Thanks for the response.

[–]Amohnhaupt 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Volvo uses ultra high strength steel (UHS) and boron steel in a lot of their components. The tensile strength of these parts changes when repaired and can only be cold straightened if straightened at all. If incorrectly repaired the metal can deform or fail during a collision that would effect airbag deployment timing and could allow more damage to transmit into the passenger compartment. The shop did the right thing standing their ground. I have been in the repair industry at a body shop for 20 years and the insurance company’s have shifted from doing the right quality repair to being about how cheap they can fix it. The big shift was during covid once the insurance company’s saw the profits from all the lockdowns and no one driving the wanted that trend to continue.

[–]Zkootz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Safety probably

[–]Merrughi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fix the glass and keep the free extended range (maybe).

[–]jowua 138 points139 points  (12 children)

I shed a tear

[–]shikadam[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Have the insurance total it out get your check. Buy the car back when it goes to action for a fraction of what you paid for it and continue using it 🤪just get the essentials fixed

[–]Da_Spooky_Ghost 129 points130 points  (9 children)

If I had the money I'd buy his totaled Tesla and replace the body panels with a wood panel station wagon or something, make it the ultimate sleeper car.

[–]mysterious762 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you seen the one that they chopped the top and turned it into a 2 door.

[–]Minimum-Function1312 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That would be exceptional!

[–]Honest-Ad-3109 3 points4 points  (3 children)

No! Leave the panels as they are. You’ll get even better mileage!

[–]bens111[🍰] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would turn it into Truckla 2.0 personally

[–]dishwashersafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always wanted to make a rat rod Tesla. This would be a good car for it!

[–]Ecstatic5 12 points13 points  (11 children)

Might as well just buy a newer Tesla.

[–]BigEE42069 2 points3 points  (10 children)

Why not do both

[–]rabbitwonker 13 points14 points  (9 children)

Buy three Teslas, and a Cybertruck to carry them around in.

[–]BigEE42069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🤣

[–]kbk1008 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Curious how a cybrtrk would do in that hail

[–]beanpoppa 13 points14 points  (17 children)

If it's a salvage title, there's a good risk that Tesla will disable supercharging, and refuse to service it.

[–]samtherat6 32 points33 points  (12 children)

I hate how many newer cars are destined for the junkyard instead of being repairable because of nonsense like this. It’ll only get worse.

[–]Enjoyitbeforeitsover 6 points7 points  (5 children)

Imagine an iPhone being able to charge at only like 5 Watts because it was resold

[–]Aggravating_Fact9547 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Imagine if touching a damaged iPhone could kill you…🫣

[–]GrapheneScene 2 points3 points  (5 children)

It’s liability. If a government agency brands the car as “salvage”, you’d be open to tremendous liability if you allowed people to continue us to use it.

[–]junksatelite 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Except people use salvage titles all the time currently.

[–]pashko90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't do it anymore.

[–]shikadam[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might try

[–]Ok_Brilliant4181 4 points5 points  (5 children)

If the OP is fine having a car with a salvage/rebuilt title then go for it. The issue is many banks won’t finance a salvage/rebuilt title, and some insurance companies may not insure vehicle. Plus, then when it comes time to sell, good luck. Most of the people I know won’t touch salvage title or rebuilt title cars, mainly because there may be damage you can’t see.

[–]pashko90 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Never had a problem to insure a salvage title. Maybe full coverage can be an issue, I don't know. For me it's always Lability insurance.

[–]shsdgfhwrtyh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy the car back when it goes to action for a fraction of what you paid for it and continue using it

You don't even have to buy it at auction, the insurance company will give you a buyout price for less than the expected auction price.

[–]WRX_RAWR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to wait for auction, you just tell the insurance company.

Not sure if it's all companies but we did it with a corolla years back. They totaled it as the mobile adjuster was sure it had frame damage just from a visual check (it didnt, it wasnt even hit there). They wanted a couple grand to buy out the totaled car from them at the end of the process we got the car and our payout check (minus what we paid to keep it), and spent $1500 of that payout to fix it. It did have a salvage title after that of course.

If it goes to auction odds are you are going to be competing with others to snag it.

[–]Muffstic 38 points39 points  (15 children)

It's probably Colorado. Just had bigger than golf ball size hail about 10 minutes after I got home or mine would look like that too.

[–]shikadam[S] 27 points28 points  (7 children)

Yep pueblo

[–]mrcippy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in Pueblo, too. Have a Model 3, but it was in a garage for this one. I feel for you. That's... bad.

[–]mrnjryguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was like - this has to be around Denver... Just a bit south. The storms have been insane!

[–]Playlanco 45 points46 points  (18 children)

Was everybody's car in that parking lot hit as badly?

[–]Kav19 20 points21 points  (8 children)

i think every tesla kinda just attracts hail. i think it’s the battery that just really likes to create a magnetic field so strong that hail just travels towards it.

every other car manufacturer has been thanking tesla for this. geico and progressive have stopped giving out insurance for hail damage on teslas.

[–]bluefirecorp -3 points-2 points  (3 children)

geico and progressive have stopped giving out insurance for hail damage on teslas.

Wait, a manufacturer problem so bad that insurance companies don't even offer coverage for it? Jesus...

I wonder how many are totaled by natural weather per year honestly.

[–]Kav19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

my guy…. don’t make me do it

[–]dobtfulconclusion 66 points67 points  (2 children)

You should see the other guy

[–]UrMomsaHoeHoeHoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could say they got, liquidated!

[–]Expert_Fan2627 47 points48 points  (60 children)

Yikes…. What cars do you have in that garage?

[–]shikadam[S] 90 points91 points  (17 children)

It happened at work parking lot. I drove it home lol. Didn't want to wait for tow.

[–]SomeGuyClickingStuff 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Did you drive like Ace Ventura?

[–]Expert_Fan2627 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oof, that rough my guy I’m sorry man, good luck on the repairs.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (2 children)

How did you see anything!?

[–]bowle01 9 points10 points  (6 children)

Were the other cars like this? Or is the Tesla like an aluminum can

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (3 children)

If the hail was strong enough to break glass, no car was safe

[–]Never_Duplicated 10 points11 points  (32 children)

Shit other people have room in their garages for cars?? I’ve got a three car garage and all three of my cars live in the driveway 🤦‍♂️

[–]NCSUGrad2012 5 points6 points  (4 children)

I have a two car garage and my car goes in and sometimes I have two cars in there if I have company. What is in your garage that it takes up 3 cars? Lol

[–]THE_GHOST-23 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I’ve got a 2 car and have both my cars and a motorcycle in it. All the other shit goes in a shed or in a basement, garages are for cars, you will extend your life of your car a lot by keeping it in a garage.

[–]TeslasAndKids 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Basements are incredibly rare where I live and most yards aren’t big enough for a shed. My two car garage has three motorcycles, a couple bicycles, and all the camping gear, Christmas decor, a freezer, sports equipment, lawn care, and tools. Cars go in the driveway for me. Well, and every one of my neighbors… A basement would be so nice.

[–]Nining_Leven 1 point2 points  (4 children)

This is my most old man post yet, but the whole “garage as a spare room” thing is out of hand in my neighborhood. 3-4 (small) bedroom households with 6 lifted heavy duty pickups parked on the driveway and in the street? BUY LESS SHIT PEOPLE.

[–]SkyKnight34 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Fuck this is the most relatable thing I've read in a while

[–]cptchronic42 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I mean yeah, garages are for cars not hoarding garbage that can be in a storage unit or elsewhere in your home.

[–]done_with_the_woods -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Damn dude, might be time to go through that shit and dump it. My brother has four kids and a small-ish 2 car garage and he is able to park both cars in there. Kids are about the only reasonable-ish reason to have a ton of extra shit so if you don’t have them you’re due for a call with Marie Kondo.

[–]TheNorselord 6 points7 points  (7 children)

People will store $1,000 worth of crap in their garage, and park a $40,000 car in their driveway.

Aside from a house, a car is usually the most expensive thing someone owns. I really don’t understand how people don’t take care of their cars better. I suspect it’s because people somehow people see the monthly car payment and derive some weird reduced sense of value?

It would make so much more sense to get a small storage unit.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

It's not about the value of the items in the garage, it's the space. I'd much rather have room for projects that are too messy to do in the house than just have my car take up a massive room just sitting there. Obviously if it was about to hail id make room for my car temporarily, but a garage is much more valuable to me as a workshop than a storage room

[–]TheNorselord -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Yeah, but: sun damage, break ins, animals, bird poop, freak wind damage, hail/storm while sleeping.

I get it, though. I do projects in my garage. It’s a pain setting up and tearing down. I wonder if there’d be a market for providing ‘project space’ for people. Include tools as part of the package, storage of WIP, a pro to assist with tips and 2+ hand tasks, etc. I suppose a monthly fee of $99, might make sense if it would allow people to reclaim their garage for their valuable car.

[–]alfooboboao 2 points3 points  (1 child)

…you know just parking spaces go for way more than $99/month in a lot of places right?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if there’d be a market for providing ‘project space’ for people

That's actually a thing, they're called maker spaces. There's none near me tho. My cars have survived just fine outside before I had a garage, so continuing to keep them outside doesn't make a difference for me. Honestly unless I owned a collector car, I just don't care that much about my cars to sacrifice my favorite space just to save my car from a couple scratches over the years. Just depends on the person I guess

[–]McBrown83 13 points14 points  (9 children)

According to mythbusters, you’ll drive more economic.

Hope the insurance covers it 🫣

[–]SaxAppeal 4 points5 points  (3 children)

It’s like dimples on a golf ball!

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (4 children)

So Adam Savage has a YouTube channel where he sometimes does Q&A, and on one of them he said that apparently after that episode a bunch of car manufacturers reached out and claimed mythbusters was wrong because they had tested it in their own labs and couldn't recreate the results. No idea who's right, just thought it was interesting that apparently these car manufacturers actually investigated it too haha

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I like the look. And you can park anywhere. No worries about door dings. I’d buy it.

[–]BB_Bandito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries about being keyed!

[–]wrx8888 31 points32 points  (7 children)

It’ll buff out real nice.

[–]crunchybaguette 21 points22 points  (1 child)

If you squint, it’s mint.

[–]blaskoa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

shit will buff out

[–]LeaString 6 points7 points  (13 children)

Wow that was really bad. Sorry for you. What State did this happen in?

I keep expecting to hear one day that Giga Texas’ parking lot with all the newly built cars got hit with hail. Violent weather up that Tornado Alley.

[–]shikadam[S] 15 points16 points  (12 children)

Colorado. Live In Colorado Springs, but it got hit in Pueblo.... about 100 cars hit

[–]drivejumpfly 7 points8 points  (5 children)

I feel your pain as I just had $12K of hail damage on my 2022 WRX in May from the storm that hit Denver. Ended up taking the cash and selling the car at a reduced price. If this happens to the Tesla I will take the money to repair all of the glass and then hold out for carbon fiber parts. I like the car that much. Didn't like the WRX enough to do the same with it.

When you get to that point, keep in mind that once they pull the panels off the car to do repairs you will always get creaking and fitment issues. If that will bother you then get rid of it. For me, I would keep my car as a gutted out canyon car with all seats and I would be perfectly fine with it.

[–]shikadam[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

So I could buy it back?

[–]drivejumpfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can buy it back - it shouldn't go to auction. They will just give you the price it will cost you to buy it from them. They take that cost out of the amount it would cost to repair the car or what your car's value would have been if it wasn't a total loss.

[–]Halperwire 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Do those covers on Amazon even work? I also have wrx, 2017, and am scared the same will happen to me. Also I don’t have full coverage, so extra worried.

[–]drivejumpfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the cover. The problem is you have to be there to put the cover on. I mainly suggest figuring out how to cover all of the glass - that's all I plan on doing. As long as the glass is fine you can drive the car around. When it breaks the glass you get water damage inside and that defeats the point of keeping the car as a cheap DD or canyon car. Water plus electronics in this car are nothing you want to deal with down the road. It's bad enough dealing with water and and and ICE car's electronics.

[–]RkyMtnChi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Colorado is a beautiful place to live but the hail here is lethal

[–]cbalzer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live there too and this summer I feel like I’m being held hostage every damn afternoon.

[–]whatmodern 25 points26 points  (5 children)

Wow there are some dumbass people in the comments section.

[–]scarface910 11 points12 points  (1 child)

So just another day in this sub then.

[–]junkbarman 13 points14 points  (23 children)

That is definitely a total loss unfortunately.

[–]shikadam[S] 4 points5 points  (6 children)

That sucks 😞

[–]legacymotorsports 7 points8 points  (5 children)

No it doesn't suck.

You'll get a massive check from the insurance company. Just go buy this car back when it goes to auction. It'll sell for next to nothing in this condition, you'll get your car back with a salvage title.

Then simply buy new windows and don't fix the body panels since they are just cosmetic. You get your car back, a massive wad of cash, and all it has is a few dents so who cares?

You should actually be really happy about this, you just made thousands of dollars.

[–]Im_A_Praetorian 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You’ll even get better range. The dimples are like a golf ball. It’s more aerodynamic that way!!

[–]codehoser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah! Listen to this guy. He clearly has his head screwed on straight! …………….

[–]citrixn00b 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting a new car, OP!☺️

    [–]ttystikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the most underrated comment.

I also live in Colorado and I've watched softball sized hail land. It's sobering. A couple of people died in my town that day; an old lady and even more tragically, a baby in her mom's arms as she was trying to reach cover.

    [–]LiteratureOk3503 4 points5 points  (1 child)

We’re the other cars in the lot damaged this bad?

    [–]shikadam[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep my friend had BMW hail tore through it and sunroof. All of them got hit hard

    [–]BIack_Coffee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    Guessing you live in Colorado

    [–]ggarcia109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    Congrats on the new car

    [–]Different_Argument19 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Holy crap. What state were you in when this happened? That’s like some storm chaser damage 🥴

    [–]RickStephenson 3 points4 points  (1 child)

My heart sunk 😞 Very sorry

    [–]shikadam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Thanks

    [–]EcstaticTill9444 4 points5 points  (1 child)

What the hail?! That’s crazy. F5

    [–]TYO_HXC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

    I refreshed. Nothing happened.

    [–]steamyicebox471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how you’re casually holding like a slice of pizza or something while taking the pictures 😂

But yeah man that thing will definitely be totaled. I see hale damage cars on auction ALL the time.

    [–]cloud_hidden_unknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be worse. You could have been inside when the pelting was full on and the background sound of sobbing. There’s a part of me that would love to see the camera footage.

    [–]SultanOfSwave 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Reminds me of the hail storm in Soccoro, NM in 2004. 1,700 cars totalled.

Here's a video. Jump to 2:16 on the timeline to see what golf ball size hail can do to cars...

    https://youtu.be/GxSsiLHoOYg

    [–]Glittering-Doctor-47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Your car is fucked

    [–]windsspam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just impressed the glass held and you didn't have internal damage

    [–]rgold220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Wow, hell of a hail

    [–]Skiskipati 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Fucking brutal

    [–]MakeVio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What size was that hail? Experienced hail handful of times and was never near this awful :(

    [–]Ronningman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it too expensive to just replace all the panels and glass? I mean, there is nothing mechanically wrong with the car, no bent frame etc.

    [–]Thicc_McNutt_Drip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this would’ve happened to any car left out.

    [–]cttrv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    What. The. Hail!!!

    [–]Weird_Cow_5100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at this while their is a garage in the background. 😂

    [–]InsouciantBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oops you had a garage too.

    [–]Frodrevo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    The dimples give better airflow

    [–]RubAnADUB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

insurance will total - then buy it back - place battery and motor into a classic vehicle upgrade - and then you would have cheaper registration - and always be able to pass emissions.

    [–]adcoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spy a garage behind you.

    [–]cantbelieveit1963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a good note. No more worrying about door dings!

    [–]Pantelume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“All the body panels need to be replaced.” No. All the body panels have dents. Yes, insurance quote, blah blah.

If it was me, I’d be buying that thing back immediately and fixing the windows and driving it.

People have no concept of actual value when it comes to vehicles these days, I swear. I’m a car guy to the core, but at the end of the day it’s a financial issue.

What are you paying per mile for transportation is the frugal man’s game. In this economy, late stage capitalism, I couldn’t pass that up.

Congratulations on your impending new Tesla

    [–]tlovr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That extra range and lower drag.. just replace the windshield

    [–]Plus-Cauliflower-957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least the old furniture in the garage is okay

    [–]RodolfoLasparri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thankfully, the cardboard boxes full of old clothes and toys were safely stored in the garage.

    [–]forsagar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    What the hail ! ! !

    [–]Roccoajr11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that a garage behind you? I would recommend using that.

    [–]stevty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Replace the glass but leave the body. It’s better aerodynamics. Golf balls go farther because of this.

    [–]stinkycat45 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Any reason this wasn't parked in a garage. It always boggles me why people who have garages never use them for cars but to store their crap. $40K+ car or your golf clubs and Christmas decorations...

    [–]brandude87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP said he was at work when it happened.

    [–]skaag 4 points5 points  (2 children)

And the worst part is that it looks like you have a garage right there behind the car...!

    [–]Meli-Mel75 7 points8 points  (1 child)

OP said in another reply that it happened at work. I’m curious what happened to the other cars in the lot

    [–]CMDR_kamikazze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same happened. The hail which could have fractured the windshield and roof like that should have been huge in size.

    [–]LynxLegitimate7875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Holy 🤐

    [–]oureux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Within spec

    [–]matthewxfz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope you didn’t buy Tesla Insurance

    [–]StrookooCuckoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this on r/all and at first thought it was going to be another opportunity for reddit's daily 2 minute hate against all things Tesla.

    [–]Spartan-Swill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I know three people that have had cars totaled from hail, and none were teslas.

    [–]swissiws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to see the effects of the same hails on a Cybertruck

    [–]ceo_greasyduck 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Insurance will try to fuck you on the check. No matter what, do NOT take their first offer. They will 100% try to undervalue and pay you what you are owed.

    [–]Twism245 3 points4 points  (1 child)

You sound really smart. Tell us more

    [–]shikadam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Thanks!

    [–]Fidug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Maybe it will buff out.......

    [–]DaddyCardano 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Theres shops that can fix all of those dents I've been shocked at the results of jail damage before

    [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jail damage tends to rectum good

    [–]Twism245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. These are too big for PDR if that's what you're talking about.

    [–]Ok-Roof-978 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What about other cars? They get fucked too?

Just trying to gauge M3 vs other cars ability to stand up to hail

    [–]shikadam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah friend had m3 back window gone and sun roof destroyed and soaked inside.

    [–]QwertyLime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a nice garage you have. Should probably use it in the future.

    [–]stunkcrunk 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i have a garage, let's park the car outside!

    [–]theargopirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, hail is hard. And Teslas are incredibly poorly made.

    [–]Nigalig -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Lol fail. Your solution was in the first photo. Use your garage dude.

    [–]bremidon 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Happened at work. And quit being a twerp.

    [–]itisallgoodyouknow -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Is material they use for these pretty cheap?

    [–]EljayDude 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I've seen all kinds of cars with that kind of damage. There's really only a few places that get hail that big.

    [–]Jimmy-Pesto-Jr 1 point2 points  (1 child)

its not the car - it's the size of the hail.

back in the day, hails were the size of pebbles - maybe the size of small berries at most.

most hail ive had as a kid had the consistency of 7/11 slushies by the time they hit the car/the glass.

these days, even in places don't usually get hail, get them in sizes ranging from grape tomatoes, to clementines, to even baseball sized. im not surprised to see hail the size of small apples even.

    [–]lowercasearrr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

    Nice garage

    [–]ndnbolla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should probably invest in a garage.
