Tutorials on calling Firebase API call from within a flutter app by Cladser in flutterhelp

[–]Cladser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s for the reply. I think this is the main choice right? If I understand you right, essentially option 1 is to Serve the API key to the app from Firebase so at least if it leaks it can be changed without breaking all Of your users apps. Or option 2 is to trigger the api call which is actually done by a cloud function and the resulting JSON payload is then passed back to the app.

I’m just testing and trying things at the moment to see what I can do with some semblance of reliability. I figure option 2 is going to be a lot slower for the user though safer for the developer.

If I figure it out I might do a tutorial myself. There are way too many that essentially say .. “this is how you do an api call in flutter… but in production you wouldn’t declare your api key like this”

… then surely… that’s not how you should do an api call!

Just finished my second Flutter game! This time using Flame. Overall a very positive experience! by GxM42 in FlutterDev

Any advice for someone who has built a few apps in flutter but is considering building a game? How is flame to get to grips with? I’ve made a few quiz type apps before but nothing most would consider a real ‘game’

Have genuinely been in a gym where a guy on a treadmill with headphone one thought he was quietly sneaking farts out. He was not.

I don’t know if this is an old saying but these days it sounds like a great way to get one of those pictures where you hold a long number in front of you.

“Don't be the Big Mac you get served in the restaurant. Be the Big Mac on the billboard.”

This is wonderful. You may or may not know it, but you sir are a wordsmith.

(Also… obviously I’m going to steal this :)

This is all messed up. I’m not far off your age and had similar experiences growing up. I can think of no times when I’ve felt it ok to cry or “be emotional”.

Also… I kind of want to know what electronic hardcore your listening to - it sounds like it hits different (it’s also my go to when I’m coding… but not sure tears will help me there!)

People say that phrase as though money will absolutely make you miserable and being broke will make everyone the bloody Dalia Lama

It might not buy you happiness but it buys you choices, and often (maybe not always) increasing your range of choices is strongly correlated with your happiness.

Oh wow .. as someone who is slowly escaping from a long term very toxic relationship this is very true (for me at least). I have all these ‘rules’ about what a good partner, prover, father should look like but absolutely none about what the other half of the relationship needs to do to hold up their end of the bargain. I think I only recently figured out that there even was a ‘their end’ to uphold….

Also I am much too old to be just figuring this out now. Take heed young ‘uns

Kelvin MacKenzie is about the most toxic shill I can think of. Him calling other people vile is lacking about as much self awareness as it’s possible to lack. He’s also a paid up Murdoch shill, funny how he hardly posted about the NHS till recently - agenda pushing fuck stump that he is.

Dealing with HTML special characters in JSON response by Cladser in flutterhelp

Just reporting back. That lib worked like a charm. Had to add my own sauce to escape apostrophes after it had run but overall it cleaned my strings pretty well.
