I've heard in American sports it's meant to be really disrespectful if you start stepping on the other team's logo (ignoring how they literally play on it anyway).
But same country thinks "running up the score" is disrespectful too, so idk maybe they're just weird with it.
There was the major example of Kyrie Irving, an ex-player of the Boston Celtics, specifically going to the logo in the middle of the court and stomping on it and scuffing his foot. It wasn’t really the “stepping” as much as an action that was intentionally done to be disrespectful. Otherwise I’ve never seen it discussed much
