Jury says Trump is liable in sexual abuse and defamation lawsuit by E. Jean Carroll by TSurface in news

[–]tehlemmings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So funny thing about that...

The lying under oath thing is questionable at best, but that's all you really need for republicans to do something that'll let them get their way. They asked him if he had sexual relations with his intern, and he asked them to define sexual relations.

By the definition they gave him, he said no. And by that definition, he wasn't lying. He was definitely playing with semantics and bullshit, but he wasn't lying. He was a lawyer doing lawyer things.

Still a scumbag for messing around with an intern. And even if she denied that there was any wrongdoing, he should not have done that. Because the power dynamic isn't fair, and there's no way to know if that played a part in either of their decision making.

Pretty much correct. SteamVR lets you do that, so it's more the platform rather than the hardware, but same idea.

SteamVR allows you to pull a desktop window into whatever you're playing. Probably just used that.

Texas conservatives are not the target audience for articles like this. It's supposed to wake the liberals up and get them to actually vote.

but it isn't 8 million people voted and Texas threw away the vote fucked.

That's true. Fortunately Texas is working on changing the rules to let them do that next year.

Fine, I'll fucking say it.

Yes.

ISPs should be blind services with no access or opinion to the content of the data transmitted. Other entities are responsible for shit like this, not Musk or his companies.

He withheld it from people trying to use it to remote control explosives behind enemy lines. Idk man, should private companies bot have the right to stop their technology from being used for controlling weapons?

Fuck your hyperbole.

Honest answer: No. ISPs should not have that right. That's law enforcements job. ISPs should be treated as blind utilities.

And it proves the problem with Elon Musk being in charge of a system like this. No one else is going to be able to directly compete because he's filled the fucking airspace, and he's not someone who can be trusted to run something like this for the public good. He's proven over and over now that he'll do incredibly stupid things for incredibly petty reasons, and he shouldn't be trusted to fairly manage anything at this point.

Unless its regulated to hell and back by every first world country, fuck starlink.

The funniest part of this post, as someone who actually has a career dealing with this stuff, is that it just screams "I don't know what I'm talking about, and my security is probably terrible"

1) Reddit cannot get your personal details from your ISP on a whim. Law enforcement maybe, but even then.

2) Most people using a VPN are getting next to zero meaningful security. Because all the major VPN players have already proven that they're willing to work with the authorities to tie activity to specific accounts. And it's trivially easy to figure out which VPN provider you're using (because the connections obviously coming from them), and most of the commercial VPNs you see advertised keep track of their user's activity.

3) Use a VM? lmao

Did you hear that term over in /r/pcmasterrace? Those guys are so confidentially incorrect when it comes to this stuff that this could absolutely be you regurgitating one of their takes.

Like so many things, this would be a project that'd be amazingly cool if it was actually for the public good. I don't trust Elon Musk. I don't want him behind anything like this.

Same goes for the whole neurolink stuff. As the target market for something like that, I would absolutely never use a product like that tied to a proven conman who's only out for his own profit.

This conversation is fun, because it makes me realize I'm a fucking nerd.

All you two are doing is making me curious about the logistics and gear set up for her tour. I'm guessing she's running three full rigs, and most likely the time off is half due to the logistics. Three on (four for a double show) and four off is a pretty standard number for three rigs on shows this size.

For those that don't know, a show that size often takes more than a day to set up, test, and get fully up and running. You can just show up in the morning and have the show ready to go in the evening. So you break it up into multiple duplicate setups so that you can play at one location while the next show is being set up somewhere else. Combined with the teardown and travel time, you might need a full weeks worth of work to perform a single show.

The amount of work, equipment, and people that go into running tours like this is always bonkers once you start to break it down.

Start machine (yay, the easy part. I feel so productive.)

You forgot "start the washer but forgot the dryer"

It doubles every step, and it happens 50% of the time. Nothing like tossing your bedding in the dryer, forgetting to start it, forgetting to check on it, and suddenly it's been time and your sheets and blankets are damp and kinda gross so you have to start over...

Can you guess why I end up sleeping on my couch most laundry days?

And even then, only because we're selective with what counts... Republicans politicized a fucking pandemic and at times tried to weaponize it against liberal cities. And more people died to that bullshit than some of those wars we're talking about.

Texas alone had 30 9/11's worth of deaths from Covid, and most of the people living their don't give two shits. Double the number of deaths for American's in Iraq, based on my quick google search; that's including suicides because holy fuck everything about our country is a fucking mess.

There's plenty of terrorists, mass killings, and death and destruction in the white western countries. Russia's threating to nuke London and we're all going to die to global warming eventually anyways.

This rant went a bit off the rails, sorry. I'm going back to watching youtube and ignoring the existential dread.

One of the people I play league is like, always browsing one of those image hosting sites. Like its their filler for when nothings happening. Any time they complain about the game lagging its turned into a joke to ask them how many tabs they have open, and it's always like 200+.

I found this out while trying to help troubleshoot their tech issues lol

They also have ADHD, but I think that might just be a porn addiction at that point. But I'm not one to judge, it's probably still healthier than my sugar addiction. And as far as I know they're not into anything questionable, so fuck it. We all get our dopamine from somewhere.
