I'm confused

Yeah, if you desperately want to clear MoC now, rolling for him might be your best choice... but we're going to get more defensive characters (free ones too), you'll probably get spooked by a Bailu/Gepard sooner or later, and so on. From a pure ROI perspective, spending 100-or-so rolls on a new character just so you don't miss out on a handful of MoC Jades is a pretty terrible deal.

Do you ever struggle with the thought that there's no point building a unit unless you're prepared to hyper invest in them nowadays?

FlingFrogs
replied to TeaMaeR

And also, questionable investments, I think, are almost never as big a deal as you think

A mindset that has helped me here is "Yes, I might eventually want to build a unit that makes better use of this premium skill, but while it's just sitting in my barracks I'm making zero use of it."

It's true that this game is a limited-resource environment and it's perfectly logical to be considering the possible opportunity costs of your actions, but you shouldn't let it get to the point where you let every opportunity pass you by. And even if you make a suboptimal decision, you're playing a game, not trying to maximize the returns of your investment portfolio. You're allowed to "mess up" here and there. Nobody's keeping count except yourself.

but yeah i do miss the days of just slapping fury+desp on an offensive unit and being good to go

Pinch-Out is a really engaging gamemode... (KyostinV's livestream)

You'd think that after the disaster that was SSS they'd learn that simply dropping obscenely bulky enemies into a boring stage and calling it endgame content was not going to fly, but here we are.

St. Patrick's Day

Just guessing here, but I think OP may have misread the handwriting and it's actually supposed to read "ned so houchprozentig" ("not such a high percentage"), probably as a direct jab at the CSU's pretty disastrous result during the 2018 elections.

I'm also not very familiar with Bavarian, but that sentence makes a lot more sense to me.

(Coincidentally, the percentage of votes the CSU got, 37.2%, is almost identical to the minimum amount of alcohol fruit brandy is legally required to contain, 37.5%)

Just for the record: If you just send the card from the ED straight to the GY, you wouldn't be able to activate the effect to SS itself because it wasn't properly summoned first

f*cking idiots...

This is such a great comment lmao

"Why would this major corporation with a full legal team make such a decision? I, a complete layperson when it comes to the law, can clearly see how silly this is! They must all be stupid, making random frivolous suits all over the place!"

Somewhat pedantic thing to complain about but I think it's funny comparing old skills with two lines and new ones with a whole paragraph

It's true that modern Yugioh cards do a lot of things so the text boxes have to convey a lot of information, but the game could definitely do with some templating improvements. Off the top of my head, "You can only use this effect of [insert card name] once per turn" could easily be a keyword (or even just an icon) instead, and different effects on one card could be more clearly separated (which the OCG already does, by the way).

They don't have to go full MtG and introduce a new keyword for every minor gimmick, but there are definitely things that are common enough to be simplified like that. Text bloat is only going to get worse, so this is something they'll have to address sooner or later.

(Also, side note regarding your final paragraph: It would be great if reading the card always unambiguously explained the card, but that's unfortunately not really the case even now. Like, reading Gozen Match doesn't explain to me why I can't link off my one FIRE monster for an EARTH one. There are a lot of weird unintuitive rulings and interactions that do come up semi-regularly and that you just kind of have to know.)
