You don't mention a contract. Was there a contract -- even a one pager, dated, work and money outlined with a signature agreeing to the price (with another agreeing the work was completed satisfactorily?) How about texts or email with the description of the job and agreement to the price? Without that minimum, this may be an expensive business lesson.

There’s no contract for such a small amount. I’ve just wrote it off as a loss. I was more curious if Google did anything for the contractor in these situations in the event that this becomes routine or a larger amount is written off as bad debt.

He drove that far with the best prospect being $200. Technically he drove that far and did the work for $0.

OP you can’t expect to make any money long term operating a business this way.

It was an error on my part because I didn’t specify our local service area on GG. I corrected it after that call, but I had to do the job to avoid missing a lead and getting removed from GG.

I was a smoker for decades and quit years ago. Now I can’t stand the smell of it, but I don’t fault people for their vices. It took my wife about a year to quit after I did. I figure it was because she had to deal with me while I quit. I was a bear for a while.

I quit for three years and the urge never left. I never became disgusted by smoking and anytime someone was smoking around me it was enjoyable. My wife never quit smoking and eventually I started back up.

Can you network with real estate agents, home inspection companies, builders?

No because they have 100% wasted my time to get quotes for their clients to adjust their bid/sell prices, to meet their quota for quotes for their clients, to do the work themselves and have an idea how much to charge their clients.

Do electrical lead referral programs work?

Not here. In the US yes, not here.

Home flippers/ investor Airbnb, or rentals & duplexes?

I do some strata work. They find me through google. I've had one or two referrals.

Network with similar trades, HVAC, plumbing, or restoration companies?

Doesn't translate well to other trades.

Contact general contractors?

See the bit about people wasting my time so they can do the work themselves and know how much to charge.

A pain pivot is when something is not, or no longer working in your business and you have to drastically change direction or tactics to get financial results.

Cool.

A more drastic pivot is to look at the saturation and demand in your local market. Is B2B better than B2C?

No. Commercial contracts have really poor margins and is an ole' boys' club. The one company that does most of them has been around since before I was born.

You’re an idiot. Point blank. I started my plumbing company a year ago and have already expanded to four trucks. It’s fucking easy if you’re not a moron. Your problem is you’re too focused on Google and not all the shit that really matters. Google accounts for 10% of our leads. Everything else is from strategies listed above that you’ve ruled out because it hurts your pussy. Cold calls to property managers got us 40% of our yearly work. They deal exclusively with us and they pay very well very fast. Commercial work has our highest profit margins at 70%. Why? Because every contractor is busy as fuck and if you have availability you should be able to railroad general contractors.

But you’re over there crying because Google hurt your feelings. Just go back to working for someone else because you don’t have what it takes to lead.

How do find property managers and their numbers?

2 points · 12 days ago

First, I googled property management companies. Then, i made a list of about 40. Next, I dug through their websites and social media sites looking for personal emails and if I couldn’t find one I wrote down any email they had. Finally, I tailored an email to each one and included a .pdf that highlighted all of our information and what we can do for them that others can’t.

We got three companies that loaded us down with work. We’ve expanded into leak detection, drain cleaning, and irrigation because these were things they really wanted and we didn’t want anyone else in a pipe trade being involved with them.

He didn't leave the chain, in fsct he continues to donate to the LTC foundation and helps develop the project. MWeb optional privacy was implemented last year and allows greater privacy and fungibility. LTC is not a security unlike most projects out there.

We’re just glossing over the fact that he dumped on everyone who believed in him and LTC? He could have given a 30 day notice of his intent. Could have burned it. Could have airdropped it. He didn’t. He cashed out and said F everyone else. There’s nothing heroic about that.

1 point · 13 days ago

LTC is more decentralized without a giant founder stash which is undeniable. Heroism looks like continuing to fund and commit time to a project that you are not invested in because you care about it as your legacy to the world which is what he does. He believes in real cryptographic innovation unlike 99.99% of other founders out there. The way you achieve that is by funding the foundation, which he did in part with his large sells, and continues to pay devs to upgrade LTC to be more sound money. It is arguably the most sound money in crypto next to maybe XMR with its optional privacy, wide adoption, and improved fungibility over BTC.

Omg, the propaganda from you bagholders is insane. You can’t even see, or maybe just will not admit, your founder fucked you all the way to the bank. Laughing. And you still give him your money. Maybe you’d like donate to Hex and Luna too?

Do they have Kepler integration? That would help.

You don't dock someone's paycheck in order to "reward" them.

Early in my career, a company I worked at rewarded a few of us with a charter boat trip on a Saturday. There was no compensation and it was mandatory. I hate fishing.

Feeling forced to do something unproductive on my own time didn’t sit well with me. I would rather have worked for money or spent time with my family.

The number one motivation is money. This is why we all work. If you’re taking someone’s time, even if you see it as a reward, it needs to be compensated.
