I actually had a 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 with a class 3 that I got for towing an 8" mesh trailer because I couldn't afford a pickup.

I did a BUNCH of renovations on my house and town 20 pieces of drywall and a large amount of 2x4s once. My buddy who helped me had a 4Runner that was broken down at the time thought I was crazy. I barely felt it on the car. It was quite a sight at Lowe's.

I've just been too lazy to put the hitch on my CX5, butt I have no doubt it'll be great.
