Property investors increase supply of rental properties reducing supply of purchase properties. Rental properties are exceptionally low supply at the moment too. If you want more supply you need more investors.
It may increase the supply of rental properties, but what does it do to alleviate the wealth gap? And does your argument address how property investors are essentially exploiting renters (who can't afford their own homes) to make themselves richer?
The first answer is nothing and the second answer is no, they ignore the shadow side of what it is they are doing and continue to use exploitative capitalism to their own advantage, rather than spending their time and energy dismantling uneven power structures that benefit the few and exploit the many.

Western society is WAY too shallow IMO. Buddhism is deep, asks deep questions and has sometimes difficult and laborious introspective time.. most people just don't feel attracted to that.
You need to do your research. Free room and board is not a thing, and home stays are expensive. There is no financial help for foreigners, in fact you would have to prove you are wealthy and capable of independent spending. Read places like r/amerexit and r/iwantout to get a better idea of how complex it is to get out of the US right now, although at your current level of research you might want to not post there yet. Do your geography research too, man. Why you want to go to the most remote city is a start...

Most WWOOF locations are too remote for University students, and they rarely allow you to stay in the same nearby-to-Uni location for several years of study. WWOOFing is fun, but it isn't a plan useful to a student doing an undergraduate degree. If the rest are like that, they are not a solution.
Are you speaking from experience? Because I am. There are plenty of HelpX and Workaway locations in urban areas and even inner city areas. I have studied a university level course while paying $0 in rent and doing a few hours of work exchange instead.
