Nintendo reported declines across the board in its financial results for the twelve months ended March 31, 2023 by msaleem in stocks

[–]bizkut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BotW was released at launch with the Switch, but was originally planned as a Wii U title and was released for that as well.

They could have done the same for Tears of the Kingdom. Headline release for the new platform, while also releasing the game for the older one.

Confused about the debt ceiling? Here’s what you need to know by predictany007 in wallstreetbets

[–]bizkut 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Republicans are not concerned about the increasing national debt.

They are concerned with making the white house look bad.

If they were concerned with the debt, they would have cut spending when they controlled both houses. Instead, they passed a tax cut that increased the debt.

The talking point that they care about the debt is just a cover for them not caring about the poor, as per usual.

Can I sell a stock for loss to wipe out interest profit from Cash Sweep? by Turbulent-Grand-933 in RobinHood

[–]bizkut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Cash Sweep program just generates interest payments, which will be included as part of a 1099-INT in your tax documents. This counts as normal income, so does not count as a capital gain which can be offset.

If you have capital losses greater than your capital gains, you can apply $3,000 worth of losses per year towards your regular income, so this can apply that way, in a sense, but it doesn't really work how you're wanting it to.

US Bank run in slow motion continues: US Bank Deposits fell by $12.5bn in latest week. by betsharks0 in wallstreetbets

[–]bizkut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you live in an area where PNC doesn't offer their HYSA, then it's like a 401k that doesn't let you invest in funds.

In that case, you just pick a different bank that will actually pay you. It's still easy enough.

It's very true for PNC, which is the bank this thread is talking about. They have a tool where you put in your zip code to see if their HYSA is available to you.

Money market funds with checking features by throwaway28912749 in personalfinance

[–]bizkut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Savings accounts will often have something like 6 withdrawals a month. You could probably put the majority of your money in a HYSA, then just keep in a checking account what you need to spend on bills each month.

You can transfer from the savings to the checking when it's time to make those payments, letting the money earn the higher interest rate of the savings account. One or two transfers from the savings to the checking account for bills or an emergency and you're plenty safe.

Is too much parked in my HYSA? by Accomplished-Gas5598 in personalfinance

[–]bizkut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, the 2 year treasury rate is about 3.9% right now which is about in-line or slightly below current HYSA rates.

A year ago, you would have e locked in below 3%. I personally think it's fine to keep it in a HYSA during a rising interest rate period. You want to lock in the higher rate if we start seeing interest rates drop.

South Carolina generates domething like 30 billion in tax revenue for the IRS in 2019. Let's say it's all profit and they get nothing in taxes back.

Give us a 20x multiplier on that, and we're sitting at 600 billion for the state. Could pay off... 1.9% of the debt!

Disney sues Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, alleges political effort to hurt its business by mvanigan in politics

[–]bizkut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You make a bunch of good points.

Realistically, the reasons I could think of were mostly hypothetical, from a layman's out of state point of view. Mostly that I generally think it's not great for a corporation to have that level of control over anywhere people live. Apparently Disney selects who lives there? I don't entirely understand the situation, it just seems pretty weird imo.

[–]bizkut 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Realistically, Disney having as much control over that land as they do for as long as they have/do was probably a mistake and is way too much power.

I think there are valid arguments as to why Disney shouldn't have that much control, but those aren't the arguments DeSantis is using. So given the reasons for his crusade, ai think Disney is in the right. I could see that being different if the government was coming from a different angle though.

Does anybody use Robinhood as a saving account by Canteatthatglutinshi in RobinHood

[–]bizkut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$1500 will give you 66 annually at 4.4%, so about $5.50 a month. So the first 1500 covers your payment, everything above that is gravy.

It's a little more complicated than that when you start looking at things like how much you would need for it to be worth it compared to another rate, and when you factor in taxes, but that's where the number comes from.

Roleplaying isn't about voices or dressing up, it's about decisions [OC] by RyanImelDM in DnD

[–]bizkut 67 points68 points  (0 children)

My favorite parts of D&D are when I, the player, know that my character is making a terrible decision. My player either doesn't have the world knowledge I do, or has character traits/flaws that lead them down a path that I just know won't end well for them, but it's so much fun to watch unfold.
