Weekly Thread - Advice for Relationship/Friendship/Dating/Breakup

sam_rs
commented

I think I'm going to ruin my relationship if I can't get better at spiralling, so I would really like advice on how to cope better.

My boyfriend made a new set of gaming friends about 6 months ago. He's studying and is on summer break atm, so he spends a lot of time with them. There's about 12 of them in the group but my boyfriend is closest to two of them, which includes a very attractive girl.

Every time he plays with them, I just lose my mind ans spiral out of control. It especially hurts if he hasn't asked me to play first. It just makes me think he prefers hanging out with them, bc he would ask me first if he actually wanted to hang out right. Some of the games they play are group games but require you to buddy up in duos, when I see he has buddied up with the girl it makes me feel insecure. Like is he enjoying his time with her more than me, does she make him laugh more than me etc.

I've tried distractions but they never seem to work because my thoughts are just so overpowering. I've also tried journaling but it actually makes me more angry seeing it all written out.

AITA for telling my nurse boyfriend that adults work full time?

sam_rs
replied to katgyrl

he also has debts he can't afford to pay off, I would be annoyed if the person I dated had debts AND the option to make more money but decided it was too stressful (barring MH issues).

Are we splitting the household chores evenly?

sam_rs
commented

I don't like most men in the UK go to the pub and leave her fending for herself, i change nappies spend time, im a father i do my fatherly minimums at very least

citation needed

comments like these don't help your argument btw, makes it sound like you think your wife should be grateful you aren't an absent father/husband like 'most men' are.

Its always a difficult situation when people view chores as different priorities. My ex was very much let dishes stack up and blast them all at once, I was the opposite and wanted to do them asap. Does the ironing really need to be done every day?

Are you also sharing the mental load of running a household fairly? like do you both do a fair amount of planning and scheduling for the kids?

AITA for paying child-support to my ex-wife?

sam_rs
replied to Expazz

Totally agree, but why would she enter a relationship like this?

I would never be in a relationship where my partner is financing his ex's luxurious lifestyle lol.

Also what happens when CS ends? Is he going to keep financing this. If not what is the wife going to do? She's been seriously out of the workforce for 18 years

My (29M) girlfriend (33F) does not want to pay rent when she moves into a house I will co-own with my mate (M29). What would be a fair arrangement?

sam_rs
commented

How much rent would she be paying compared to the market rate? because she's right, she's sharing a room not renting a whole room.

She also won't have the same protections as a tenant/lodger. Would she be expected to pay for house maintenance/appliances etc?

Outrage after football club votes to remove entire female section

Tbh I wasn't arguing for or against the club being sexist, I was just saying I don't think sexist people will always make logical decisions regarding the sex they are biased against

Is she doing childcare for your child then?

My point was did you only bring up her changing jobs while she was pregnant/pp? Because it's quite selfish if you did, and was probably a convo to have before getting pregnant. It's probably one of the hardest/least ideal times to find a higher-paying job. She seems to have a stable career while having a literal infant.

Is it not possible to wait until your child is in nursery, and you take reduced hours for mental health?

We also recently welcomed our first child less than a year ago.

Your child is less than a year old, is she part-time to look after said child?

My wife and I are fully aligned on her keeping her dream job until she can find something better, but it's been a year or so of this.

It's been a year but she's been pregnant and postpartum during that time?
