**A place to discuss published speculative fiction**—novels, short stories, comics, and more. Not sure if a book counts? Then post it! Science Fiction, Fantasy, Alt. History, Postmodern Lit., and more are all welcome here. **The key is that it be speculative, not that it fit some arbitrary genre guidelines**. Any sort of link or text post is welcome as long as it is about printed / text / static SF material.

Should I continue reading the Riverworld series after To your Scattered Bodies Go?

So I knew of the story only through reading the GURPS Riverworld book.

I suspect that might be the best way to read Riverworld actually. The world is the really cool part.

They aren't addressing the corruption problem! They aren't stifling the investigation of corrupt officials and orchestrating media blitzes to convince people that the corruption was just made up by republicans. They aren't even having their lawyers and judges make arguments about how the corruption is legal! How can they expect their corrupt members to be victorious if they don't take these simple steps to address the corruption in their party? They are practically marginalizing it by failing to address the needs of these people!

As you can see, Europe and Asia have been connected to N. America on and off consistently through time. And prior to the Pleistocene the arctic was much warmer. This allowed a variety of species groups to spread between N. America and Asia, including giant salamanders, paddlefish, and alligators. The first cyprinids got to N. America during the Oligocene, and traveled across Beringia to do so. There's been some movement back and forth since then, for example in the genus Catostomus which has a species found in both N. America and Asia.

ELI5: Why are polar bears so big?

Temperature has already been mentioned, but another important factor is the distance between food resources. Larger land animals can more easily travel long distances between patchy sources of food...not only can they travel faster, they can go longer without eating during the trip. A camel or caribou can walk dozens of miles to get to the next patch of good food, a lemming or jerboa can't.

Lol, the electorate didn't swing after one candidate got indicted, shot, and two had a shocking debate performance. It didn't even swing that much after one ticket entirely replaced their candidate!

recommendations for more high fantasy series with dragons/elves

Neither are quite high fantasy, but Dragonriders of Pern and Temeraire are both about dragonriders. Also Dragonlance, but I've never read it.
