Farm labourer who defiled employer’s daughter (14) is jailed by Safe_Discipline4321 in ireland

[–]ulchachan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it mentions your definition as follows:

ARCHAIC rape or sexually assault (a woman).

Do you know what the word archaic means?

Also, even if it hadn't already been widely accepted that this meaning of the word was archaic, I'd still say "well let's not have something which is a synonym for 'spoil the purity of ' as a legal term for the rape of a woman". Dictionaries and terms change.

Edit: Or is what you're trying to say that you do think a woman/girl being the victim of sexual assault spoils their 'purity'?

OP's point wasn't 'isn't it bad that/how it's reported?' but that defiled is an outdated word that we could replace within our legal system.

Given the definition:

damage the purity or appearance of; mar or spoil

I completely agree.

Letting your kid who is so young they clearly don't know how to do it gently and when the dog is backed into a wall with no way out is pretty stupid.

The dog is also leaning away as much as possible at the start - it's giving every possible signal of "don't touch me" and all of the adults are ignoring it

That's so confusing - I thought he'd be bringing back the Tweets which Twitter deleted; bringing back Tweets people themselves deleted is wild.

When they say "self-censored" is that them saying that they're going to undelete only users themselves deleted, rather than those which Twitter deleted?

Not quite sure why you're being downvoted? That is the etymology of the word and it's a less common word outside the US.

Having an expectation that your child will live an “affluent lifestyle” once married is wiiiild to me.

I don't find it that weird - most parents want their kids to have the same or higher level of privilege to what they already have.

If anything I think the Dad has got an understanding that she doesn't necessarily have - that life with Brennon might not be what she's used to (unless she alone makes enough bank to maintain it).

House in the U.S are built from wood for several reason like that it is cheaper in both material and labor.

This is the part I'm confused about every time it gets discussed on Reddit. Sure it is cheaper and quicker but that's also true outside the US (or in lots of places which have abundant forestry) so why is it only the US out of Developed Countries that seems to use less brick/stone/concrete?

No, this is your conclusion based on the sources you've read. Again, a completely different thing. You've decided the evidence against the null hypothesis (to use your favourite phrase) is weak based on some sources, which are not the sources used by any reputable climate scientists. So I'm asking how did you evaluate whether the sources you're using are credible or manipulate data?

Unless you're saying you'd already decided climate change wasn't real based on no evidence and then went looking for sources which agreed? That would be an interesting admission lol

Edit: However I have to thank you because I went and read the original paper. A genuinely great example of citizen science which makes absolutely no mention of what you're saying the conclusion is.

If anyone else is interested in reading about the mammoth effort to digitise old rainfall records and how helpful that will be in climate change research https://rmets.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/gdj3.157

Both of your replies are attempted answers at a very different question to what I asked.

I didn't ask "why is climate change a lie?" I asked (or at least intended to but maybe wasn't clear): how do you evaluate sources for whether they are credible?

Edit: Wait I read one of your responses in more detail and now understand that you're a troll. Nevermind!

He's got "cheeky lad" vibes but I'm hoping he turns out to not actually be a dick.

It was good he was up front to her and it was actually giving her an opportunity to open up more deeply, like she could have said "I actually really struggle with opening up, I think it's because x, y, z life experience"

If the probability that 2 of those children might meet and fuck/end up in love (unknowingly) becomes anything but tiny it's unethical.

It sounds like you have more real world experience than me (actually living in the US and being married to someone Pakistani) but I was talking about the one that came out in 2015 (first Jurassic World?) so I'd be more surprised than the 90s. As you say though, you never know whether they just didn't care.

Based on stuff I've seen on this sub before, you likely won't get a great reaction, even as someone personally affected and Republican. I've been shocked by the attitude of some of my friends from home on this and other "up the ra" situations and they're educated and 'left-wing' people.

We're from the opposite end of the country and I know for a fact that none of their families were impacted in any way by the Troubles. They're supposedly all about an imminent 32 county Republic and I don't understand how they're expecting that to work (i.e. not in constant state of civil war) if they find stuff like this hilarious and say there's nothing wrong with it.
