What do you look for in a great lead? by Accomplished_You8685 in Curling

Think of it like putting. A draw is a two foot putt, a takeout is a 75 foot putt. Same motion but a very different amount of effort.

Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - Gordon Lightfoot

Picked up the guitar a couple of weeks ago, and I want to start learning barre chords. Which barre chords should I start with? by NowisJuice in guitarlessons

[–]left-button 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, kinda yes. For the minor.... The root for the minor shape is the 5th (A) string. On the second fret, that's the B (root of the Bm).

[–]left-button 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Root is the 1st (top) string. When you play an E, both E strings 1&6 are both open E.

When you barre the first fret 1&6 strings become the root F.

Looking to make a pair of curling shoes as a DIY project. Will these Goldline sliding discs be suitable? by yguns031 in Curling

[–]left-button 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the sliders will be fine. The hard part is getting them to stick to the sole reliably. You usually need the sand/file the tread down flat, and use lots of adhesive... Usually rubber cement or something like that.

F.

The E shaped barred on the first fret. Once you get that down, you can slide that shape up and down the neck and play G, A, B, etc.

Once you get that, learn the minor shape. Like playing A minor barred (instead of E). The most common use of this is Bm. That's the Am shape, barred on the second fret.

Canadian businesses can charge credit card fees starting Oct. 6 by Blipped_d in ontario

Totally hypothetical? Not.

As a small business owner, this would save us thousands each month. Credit card fees are outrageous.

Where to find Newspapers on cheap? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]left-button 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can't find what you're looking for - go to a corner store and buy them.

They should only be $1-$2 each... max.

Send me a DM with the receipt and I'll transfer the cash. I'll support journalism, students, and poetry anytime!!

What exactly are you looking for? 10 issues of the same paper? 10 different newspapers on the same day?

What kind of class is this for?

What's the best ticketing system ? (asking BM regionals/international organizers) by bois_santal in BurningMan

[–]left-button 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colorado Burnal Equinox (regional burn, 150 people), Elsewhence (renegade burn, 650 people), and Denver DeComp (regional decompression, 2000+ people) have all used Multipass in recent months.

http://multipass.com

It's a new ticketing service built by burners and burner-adjacent folks. It's free for organizers, has low fees, and is highly customizable to match the needs of your group. It also handles questions and confirmations as part of the ticket purchase. If you require group membership, or admin approval before a purchase is completed, that's also an option. It's super easy to create and manage events. Hope this helps!

Is TTC that dangerous? by Travyswole in askTO

[–]left-button 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You don't have anything to worry about. About a million people ride TTC a day, 99.99% of them without incident. The reason you hear about these attacks is because they're rare enough to notice.

Also - consider the GO Train from Mississauga. It'll let you off right at the arena (union station).

Any recommendations for a tailor made suit? by Blindemboss in askTO

Third for Surmesur - I've gotten suits and loads of custom tailored dress shirts there.

My suit was about $750 all in, if I recall correctly.

If someone asks you "Do you want to go for a walk?" that means.. by buzheh in ENGLISH

[–]left-button 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Often "Do you want to go for a walk?" is used as an excuse to get out of the room or situation, to clear your head, to change the setting... it usually has more to do with the mental effects and personal interaction, and not so much (or anything) to do with exercise.

It could also be an innocent way to ask for a date, or some time alone with a potential partner.

Anyone know why the filament isn’t sticking? by lejabbabot in Ender3Pro

[–]left-button 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks way better. I imagine this will fix your issue... as long as the bed is level like that in all corners.

Anyone know why the filament isn’t sticking? by lejabbabot in Ender3Pro

[–]left-button 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like there is a bit of space between the nozzle and the bed. You need to raise the bed so the nozzle is almost touching the bed, and spreading the filament like soft toothpaste. You need to squish it down a bit.
