Not at most places, at least. Where I work right now, if we get a complaint, we just bend over to them and give them what they want. Unless it’s a ridiculous request. Most of the time, it’s like $20 off your next order or the price of whatever they claimed was wrong. Sometimes, we can dispute complaints and remove the fault from the driver. But it’s a hassle and just gives us more shit to deal with.

At our store (family owned) we don’t put up with this shit and the owners are 100% behind it. We have a list on the wall of addresses where we have to open the pizza box and show them before we let them have it.

maps.umd.edu gives you all the info on parking you need to know. Additionally, every parking lot is marked with signs in red or black font that tell you whether or not you can park in the lot.

DOTS also sends out emails close to football games with information on which lots need to have cars moved out of and they give a specific day and time they need to be moved by. There aren't really that many meters on campus anymore, most of the pay to park lots are already numbered spots that you can pay for on ParkMobile.

The information that you are requesting is easily accessible to everyone in a variety of formats. You are implying that most people get tickets from not paying meters, but if I had to take a guess it's because they are parking in the wrong lots at the wrong times. Plus, parking meter tickets are only $35 compared to the $75 fines from lot violations which is what we hear about most often on reddit.

Also the reason DOTS gives out tickets is so that the shuttle buses can be funded. Student fees do not cover the cost of running shuttles. And the SGA did not allow an increase in transportation fees which would not only have maintained the level of service we offer now, but would have actually expanded service and brought back many buses that have been lost (ex. Greenbelt 2nd bus). So, if you want to be mad at someone because DOTS tickets people aggressively, be mad at SGA.

I don't know. I vaguely remember not needing one last summer. But my memories are bad.

You can park in any numbered lot but you still need to purchase a permit for one of the lots

Don’t park where you’re supposed to = ticket Park where you’re supposed to = no ticket
