Per the sidebar, post titles should be descriptive/informative rather than be in the style of clickbait. If the source article uses a clickbait headline, you must reword it to contain the information clicking through to the article would provide. No misleading titles.
During news cycles, often up to 30 different sites will report on a particular news item. Once the first article has been posted, please avoid duplicate submissions. If there are additional articles worth sharing for the same news item, please post them in the existing thread.
If you are going to make a recommendation/claim that is not stated verbatim in the original article, or referenced in the original article/post, citations must be given. Proper care to appreciate the level of evidence should be given, in terms of the organism used, whether the effect has been replicated, and further potential considerations/criticism.
Example of an uncited claim: take these supplements x, y, z to slow or reverse aging.
Not permitted on reddit. Avoid linking to unmoderated subreddits that promote drug sourcing.
Civil discourse is required. No hateful speech or personal attacks.
Links should be sourced from reputable websites. e.g. peer reviewed studies, science writers, government bodies, interviews with researchers etc. Unacceptable sources may include things like books, videos, or blogs written by non-experts. Other examples include: low quality journals, e.g. journals known for predatory publishing practices that accept payment but do no strict scientific review. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Predatory_publishing Anecdotes are not data.
Posts and comments must be on-topic. See the sidebar for what the subreddit is not about.
Post recent news/papers, rather than old.
Spreading misinformation about researchers or otherwise is not permitted here. Joking or trolling, it does not matter. Anecdotes are not data.
Offering or seeking medical advice via specific clinics, medical providers etc is strictly prohibited and offending comments will be removed. Ditto for inviting this via DM.
Feel free to discuss longevity-related topics, share the latest aging research, media, news, and articles! Just be sure to not post clickbait headlines, avoid hyperbolic headlines, and try to link to original sources.
General Subreddit Rules and FAQ.
This subreddit is not about solving problems that can be solved by diet (/r/ScientificNutrition), supplementation (/r/supplements), sleep, exercise (/r/fitness), or fasting (/r/fasting, /r/FMD). A good lifestyle helps increase the percentage of the healthy part of a life span, as well as reduces risk of early death or chronic sickness or disability, but does not help in defeating the inevitable age related disease.
There is nothing on the market as of right now (2022) that you can purchase or sign up for and get some of the benefits that are the aim of this subreddit (addressing multi-factors of age related damage and disease). The goals that are part of this subreddit's theme are being worked on in the form of very early research, and the expected time frame of such advances hitting the market are years away, but we are here to follow the progress.
