Don't use others' media, whether they're from reddit or your buddy or somewhere else on the Internet. We see you, karma farmers and linkspammers.
If it's obvious you've adjusted contrast and/or color curves, we don't want it here. This isn't the place for fakery.
No shitposts, no crossposts from r/stupidfood or similar subs. This sub is about quality.
Steaks and things that are cooked like steaks/to a doneness like steaks are acceptable. Not acceptable: anything cooked low and slow, braised, stewed, ground. No ribs, no short ribs, no pot roasts, no Instant Pot, no shredded beef, no burgers. Take that stuff to r/meat, r/slowcooking or the recipe or generic cooking subs. And since this recently has somehow been unclear, cooked to a doneness like steak means no carpaccio and no tartare.
Money shots are not a hard rule, but you will save yourself a lot of grief by posting one. What's a money shot you ask? A cross-section of your cooked steak or roast showing the doneness. Anyone can burn a steak, let's see what matters. Don't report for this rule, this is merely to educate posters in the sub - we will not remove for lack of a moneyshot. Some of us will always downvote without a moneyshot however.
Keep things kind and friendly. Yes, we're a passionate community and if people are posting here, they are opening themselves up to criticism as well as praise, and need to accept that. That said, let's keep our observations objective, and refrain from snide comments, replies or posts. Avoid politics and irrelevant commentary. No racism. No derogatory references to ethnicities or nationalities. Don't do or write anything that might make someone feel like they don't belong in r/steak.
Your posts should be meaningful, interesting, and meant to engage the community.
This sub exists for sharing a passion around steak, not to make you a profit.
If you have obviously NSFW content in your post or comment history, and your profile is NOT marked as NSFW, you will be banned until your profile is properly marked. Mods sometimes need to review your history, and other users may be curious. No one should have NSFW content surprise dropped on them - viewing NSFW material must always be informed and consensual.
This is not the place for political, moral or ethical battles. It is a place for steak.
