I'm not a big chess player, but my 5 year old met his friend recently who taught him chess. He's very keen to play with me all the time now. He picked up the moves very quickly, has the basics down. The problem is it's impossible for him to win. Checkmate is a little while off for him, developmentally, but it's important for him to win once in a while to stay motivated and keep it fun. Is there a variation on the end game rules that makes it easier for kid's to win?
