Dana got paid a truckload of money, and stuff what the fans and fighters want.

Pretty big. Celebrities and ex pros competing to raise money for charity. England vs the Rest of the World. Notable alum include Usain Bolt, Gordon Ramsey, Mo Farah and Woody Harrelson.

The BMF belt, and other stupid fake UFC championships by zeez1011 in MMA

Darn, I was hoping for a retrospective on other non official titles ala Superfight, the Saku belt etc.

Australia has always had an underrated boxing and kickboxing scene. Guys like Tszyu, Sefo etc.

While I share the sentiment I’d rather these opportunities go to guys like Borralho, who have the winning streaks to warrant them.

Wouldn’t be fair on Benny (assuming he beats Charles). Longer winning streak than both and a fresh face fighting for the belt. Plus (hot take) he has a better chance of beating Makhachev then Dustin or Justin.

If Weili vs Lemos was booked earlier this year (as it should’ve been) people wouldn’t be as upset about it. But Yan’s performance and the prospect of China vs China is so much more appealing. If Lemos wins (which she’s capable of) the UFC lose a big opportunity.

Does anyone find it funny the UFC had a Welterweight fight headline 3 PPVs in a row (244 to 246) and the one people (ie everyday fans) cared about least was the actual title fight.

If that's the case go up to HW and take advantage of fat brawlers with zero wrestling.

The truth is somewhere in the middle. I think Jon would've been OK with fighting Francis but wanted ridiculous money to do it. It's very suspect however that Jon holds out for Wilder money and immediately rescinds once Francis is gone.

My only thought is the UFC know a non-title fight is gonna be a harder sell, so hope to compensate by stacking the undercard.

Outside of that it makes no sense, but given this is the same company trying to get Nunes over as a PPV A-side for the fifth time I'm not surprised.

What do you think is the preparation for a backup title fighter? Do you think it's general conditioning or do they predict which fighter (if any) misses and prepare for their opponent.

Yes. I don't disagree Belal has a dull fighting style but there comes a point you have to accept meritocracy. He's been given every stylistic threat in the division and passed all of them.

I think she seems content making money on the Onlyfans scene. If she went back to Invicta and strung to gether some wins I wouldn't put it past her. Angie did the same thing and now she's main eventing a fight card.

TBH that's one of the biggest reasons I root for other promotions to succeed. Having no meaningful competition have caused the UFC to stop trying and think they can get by on brand value. It's no coincidence two of their strongest eras came when they had serious threats. 05 to 07 (Pride) and 09-13 (Strikeforce)

I wonder if any Canadian fans are looking at 291 and wondering what Salt Lake did to get that card while they're stuck with 289.

Anyone got the feeling we're gonna see Merab vs O'Malley for an interim title at 292. Booking Aljo to defend without Longo's knowledge feels like the UFC trying to railroad them into that fight, kinda like Francis vs Derrick at 265.

❌ Fighter removed: Ji Yeon Kim by e-rage in MMA

[–]karl100589 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If Kim's getting cut because of that fight Bohm should go too. I don't think Kim is UFC level, but I feel very uneasy about a fighter losing their job because their opponent took a DQ win (in a fight they were losing)

Hot take: People would be a lot less venomous about this card if it had a better main event. There's a bunch of fighters with some kind of name value which is a lot more then can be said for recent Apex cards.

Gets pieced up. There’s video of him being forced to strike on the regional level and it’s rudimentary to put it nicely.
