Sorry if this breaks any rules, still trying to to find the right place for my questions 😂 so here’s my prompt:

Heyo! Im new to the sub and have some questions and a desire for advice to anyone who thinks the following criteria would match: I did martial arts and combat sports all throughout my youth (kung-fu, kickboxing, wrestling, and a couple months of bjj) however I am extremely rusty so still consider myself a beginner even though I now am I am in my early 20s, but I want to get back into it and have questions for anyone who has anything to weigh in: I have been considering either starting up bjj again or starting judo for the first time. For reference there are half a dozen bjj places in my town, but one judo place, and honestly I am torn between the two cause I see the validity in each art but struggle to figure what would be best to start, especially on a limited budget. I was always good at stand-up combat stuff like boxing cause the patterns made sense; the combos were straight forward and the surprises would be to an extent more formulaic to me so I could always surmise the best thing to do in those instances, but I want to learn more proficiency at ground/takedown sports. When I did wrestling my strong suit was always takedowns and faking people into getting them on the ground, but I always struggled once I was there 😂 so I guess I’m just looking for advice that would be the most advantageous for either what I already know and what would be most beneficial to learn. More than anything I want a place to train and learn at to help me learn more about each art form, cause I have such a love for each of them! Thank you all for your time and I’ll be here to listen to any and all responses/pieces of advice!

If you are looking for a place to discuss televised MMA fights, please check out r/MMA. However, if you would like to breakdown a previously televised MMA match, that would be great to post here.

If you're a fighter, feel free to post your fight videos or training videos if you are searching for critique. Keep in mind that everyone on this board is a stranger to you, and ultimately you should take the advise of your coaching staff.

If you are a professional or amateur fighter, feel free to apply the appropriate flair so users with questions have a good understanding of who is giving the advise.
