Welcome! This is a friendly place for those cringe-worthy and (maybe) funny attempts at humour that we call dad jokes. Often (but not always) a verbal or visual pun, if it elicited a snort or face palm then our community is ready to groan along with you. To be clear, dad status is not a requirement. We're all different and excellent. Some people are born with lame jokes in their heart and so here, everyone is a dad. Some dads are wholesome, some are not. It's about how the joke is delivered.

In December 2019, a novel coronavirus strain (SARS-CoV-2) emerged in the city of Wuhan, China. This subreddit seeks to monitor the spread of the disease COVID-19, declared a pandemic by the WHO. This subreddit is for high-quality posts and discussion. Please be civil and empathetic.
I am a board-certified family medicine physician, military veteran, South Carolina native, and soon-to-be president of the American Medical Association. I completed my medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina and my residency at U.S. Air Force Regional Hospital.
I’ve been caring for patients in the Tidelands region of South Carolina for more than 35 years, where I’ve had the privilege of serving my community on the front lines throughout the most uncertain times of the past year.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve helped my patients identify their symptoms, evaluate their risk, and understand how we can avoid getting and spreading the illness. More recently, I’ve been answering their questions about the COVID-19 vaccines. Today, I’d love to do the same for you.
Let’s talk COVID vaccines. Ask me anything!
Proof:
UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who joined us to talk about the COVID-19 vaccines! I hope you’ve learned something new. If you didn’t get your questions answered, please visit GetVaccineAnswers.org for information and resources vetted by the CDC to help you make a decision for yourself about the vaccines.

I am a grad student in the health policy world, and I am trying to understand the biggest players in the health policy game. The AMA is consistently one of the biggest fish. For example, and have successfully prevented other nationalized payer efforts in the past, e.g., with Eisenhower in 1945 (despite being supported by a majority of the public).
I want to know what you think about the AMA. Are you familiar with their political agendas? Do you agree/disagree with what they do? What kind of a role does the AMA play in your life? Are you active with the AMA?
I just wanted to put a feeler out there to better help me understand who to talk to in the medical world about the AMA. Your responses are appreciated!

This sub is intended as a repository of sources and a place of discussion regarding independent and inappropriate midlevel practice. It is designed to highlight the differences between a medical doctor and midlevels in areas including training, research, outcomes, and lobbying. ___________________________________________ "Noctor" refers to midlevels (NP, PA, CRNA, CNM, etc.) who pretend to be doctors. This is not a sub for discussing nurses acting in a nursing role.

A subreddit for sharing those miniature epiphanies that make the mundane more amazing.
Ever since I was 18 I have suffered from several symptoms that no doctor really wanted to dig into, including weakness, fatigue, dizziness, random muscle twitches/numbness and pain. I was referred to a psychiatrist, called a hypochondriac, told that I am "too young" to even have what I suspected, not even once tested for anything more severe than hormonal disorders or diabetes. The psychiatrist was the only doctor I have met that did not believe I was making it up/panicking about nothing.
I have asked neurologists multiple times for a CT scan, or an MRI scan, but was told it was "not necessary" and referred to other doctors, including psychiatrist and a sleep clinic, again.
One day I got angry and decided to pay (and it was expensive) for private clinic testing, only to learn within a MONTH that I have a brain-damaging illness and the brain lesions it caused cause all the weird symptoms I have had.
