I don't quite get the down votes... do you watch dog users dislike utilities that make your life easier?

[–]James1o1o 22 points23 points  (3 children)

It does not matter who or what post it is on reddit, every single post will get downvotes. Great work for the community, thanks for doing this!

[–]monsto 11 points12 points  (2 children)

It does not matter who or what post it is on reddit, every single post will get downvotes.

Exactly. Welcome to reddit, where people are bitches and the points don't matter.

[–]bilago[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The points do matter if they downvote you off the front page, since most readers don't travel past that

Ughhh what are all these OPTIONS! It makes my head hurt!

    [–]bilago[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you hover your mouse over each one it will give you an idea of what it does :)

These are the options we should have been given in game, this app shows there is no excuse it was that easy, they just didnt give two shits about the pc version.

    [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (4 children)

I NEEEEEARLY downvoted because you put official release in your title. It took me a bit to figure out that its officially from you. I thought this was from Ubisoft at first.

    Otherwise, good job.

    [–]XXLpeanutsÏ?Ï‚ 3090 FE, i9 9900k, 32gb ram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hah Ubisoft couldnt possibly make something so good or useful.

    [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah, Sorry about that, you're the second person to mistaken that. I just was trying to differentiate between the Alpha version I released earlier this week, and this version

    [–]tso 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Could have written "1.0 release" i guess.

    [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right. Unfortunately I cannot change titles now :(

    [–]dimsumxuplay:dimsumx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most likely console version owners would be my guess.

    [–]andrewia 4 points5 points  (4 children)

The number of votes may be distorted ("fuzzed") to prevent spambot operators from knowing if their boys' accounts have been shadowbanned.

    [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Well in the first hour i had 7 likes and 5 dislikes, looks like that turned around though :)

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

You may have had 3 legitimate upvotes then. It fuzzes the figures but the actual score remains somewhat true.

    [–]bilago[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Okay, I understand

    [–]wellitsajob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it doesn't matter anymore, but the fuzzing wasn't nearly that huge. I've seen posts with 200+ upvotes and 0 downvotes before. It was +/- a few percent, at most. For items with less than 30 karma, the fuzzing would only change things by 1 to 2 points at the very most. It didn't need to be huge, just a tiny bit, enough for bot owners to be unable to determine whether or not their bot votes are counting or not.

My chrome browser marks the .exe as malicious and blocks the download. That's probably scaring some folks.

      [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Yeah, a few people have let me know. I cannot tell you why it happens though. It is safe!

      [–]ChuckmanJoneyUplay: ChuckmanJoney 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yes, I can definitely vouch for it's safety! However, I would suggest putting a notice on the main post and instructions on how to override the cancelled download. Some transparency would only benefit your release.

      [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I can link the Google page, but users shouldn't have to turn off their protection just to download my program. I may have to switch to a real host instead of dropbox.

      https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/4412392?hl=en

      [–]ChuckmanJoneyUplay: ChuckmanJoney 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I was able to click on "Show all downloads" and choose to keep the file from there without turning protection off.

      [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, well thats simple enough, all the Google instructions I found were saying to disable protection in settings!

      [–]eduardog3000 0 points1 point  (1 child)

"Malicious" or "This type of file can harm your computer."?

Well this would not do that, but it may help you turn down other settings that are not normally configurable to help with fps, like rain splatter or cloth physics.

Other than that lets hope for a solid optimization patch lol

          [–]riarua 4 points5 points  (3 children)

The hover tooltip doesn't last long enough for some of the longer descriptions. Not sure if that's some windows setting I have, or the program. Apart from that, I'm loving it. It makes playing with settings to minimise stutter so much easier.

          [–]bilago[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will make the tool-tip fade time longer, update will be live in a few minutes. Sorry about that!

          [–]bilago[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

          Update is live!

*Updated Tooltip fadeout time to 10 seconds instead of 5

          Sweet. Thanks.

Very very cool... Any idea what the physics option on the far right does?

          [–]bilago[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Once you download the software, you can hover over each item and I gave a small summary of what it does and what kind of performance gain you may have by lowering it. If you see any that have no description, that's simply because I have no idea what they do , yet :-P

          [–]amuzz18 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This nvidia page appears to list all of the options that you have in your amazing tool. It may help you to complete the rest of the mouseovers.

          [–]bilago[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, I'll fill the rest in ;)

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Yes, mostly affects how cloth's react - like Aiden's jacket when you're on a motorcycle

          [–]TheAscended 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ahh okay I wonder if there is a performance impact with setting it to ultra lol

          [–]bilago[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Here is some test data for Physics... Performance gain isn't too significant, but I guess every frame counts

Physics Ultra 43 fps 70-80 percent all 4 cores

Physics Low 45-47 fps 70-80 percent all 4 cores

          [–]TheAscended 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will keep it at high, I love me some jacket waving lol

          [–]Quipinside 0 points1 point  (3 children)

The tooltip says that turning off physics helps performance greatly but it doesn't give me the option to turn it off. Low is the lowest option and aidens coat is still waving on low. Can I turn it off somewhere in a text editor?

Edit: The tooltip wording made it sound like it could be disabled entirely but I guess that's not the case? I tried changing the gamerprofile physicconfig to "off" "0" and "disabled" but it didn't work. I'm playing on a radeon HD 5770 so just trying to squeeze out as much fps as I can.

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That is my fault for bad wording, you cannot turn physics off, just low. Try using the preset I added for Low if you want, it may make your game run better

          [–]Quipinside 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thanks. I got up to 10 fps increase while driving (~40 fps to 50 fps) with several things turned down. So this tool certainly helped.

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          Glad to hear it helped!

          [–]frillybob101 0 points1 point  (1 child)

          What is asych shader loading?

          [–]bilago[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Asynch stands for Asynchronous which is a fancy word for multithreading. I assume it multithreads the loading of shaders. I would probably leave that checked

          [–]Savagebody 0 points1 point  (2 children)

My biggeat issue with my version is that stuttering that I think a lot of high end users are getting as well. Has this utility been shown to make improvements on that or should we relax and wait for an official patch?

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

While nothing will make it run better than a patch... There is definitely enough options to eliminate atleast some of the stuttering. This tool automatically backs up your original so if you make changes and don't like them you can always revert back!

          [–]Savagebody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great! Yeah my issue is as I said the same as everyones. I run silky smooth but at very odd moments. Like I could be mad dashing through a busy street and then the moment the camera even rotates you get the stutter then youll be fine again. I notice no fps difference at all between the low and high because of this. Its just universally busted. So if there can be a removal of the delay that would be spiffy. I will try this when I get home.

          [–]TaintedSquirrel 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Which one of these is Texture Quality (Low, Medium, High, Ultra)?

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the users on here, Textures has a max setting of High. It is a combination of Texture, Texture Resolution an texture Q, that give you the best settings.

          [–]ImaginationDoctor 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Just FYI, i'm on a two year old laptop with an ATI Radeon card. The game runs on custom, with detail on medium. I messed around with the tool. My fps stayed the same, (around 25 on foot, 15 while driving.) However, the game seemed to run smoother after I changed some settings with the tool. I'm excited to see how this works when I'm on a proper computer.

          [–]bilago[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

glad to hear, keep us posted!

          [–]Moiklei5 2500k GTX 680(2Gb) 16Gb RAM 1 point2 points  (1 child)

How can you play with that fps? :(

          [–]ImaginationDoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you've never had a proper gaming computer, you use what you got. I'm very close to being able to spend money on my own build, so then I'll really be having fun.

          [–]billyshin 0 points1 point  (1 child)

With this tool I'm now able to play the game on my dual monitor setup!

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          awesome!!

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you my friend. I shall get on this at once

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          You're welcome fine sir :-D

          [–]tamzta 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Can't download as at work - can you map a walk toggle to the 360 controller using this tool? Hate how easy it is to auto jog!

          [–]bilago[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

This currently does not have any controller/key bind options, but I'm looking into it. It will be hard mapping the xbox controller since I don't have a wireless one.

          [–]icdmize 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I have a wired 360 controller and it works via USB no problemo, wireless you'd have to buy an adapter.

          [–]bilago[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if you're playing with a wired, then Ill use that for testing since I own one :)

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finally added keyboard bind integration... Controller isn't looking too great regarding binding, I think its hardcoded with only a few schemes. Still investigating though!

          [–]HaraDaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Durazno: http://code.google.com/p/magical-tools/wiki/Durazno Let's you set linearity and other xinput options such as deadzone, should work with any game. Using a anti-deadzone of 6 and linearity of -1.20 in Watch_Dogs. Made vehicles less twitchy also.

          [–]YourAverageNord 0 points1 point  (8 children)

I still wish I could up the draw distance, pop ins really bother me

          [–]bilago[S] 2 points3 points  (7 children)

Yeah unfortunately that isn't a configurable option. yay for PC ports

          [–]YourAverageNord 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do you think Ubi could change that with a patch?

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ubisoft could change anything with a patch, but putting the resources into adding that and testing it, probably won't happen

          [–]daemonkey98 0 points1 point  (4 children)

According to Ubisoft, Watch_Dogs on PC is the lead platform.

          [–]bilago[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While they may claim that... They sure did give us a console port :(

          [–]XXLpeanutsÏ?Ï‚ 3090 FE, i9 9900k, 32gb ram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are people still propagating this lie?

          [–]ShadowStealer7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously they lied to get more money

          [–]Susp 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What exactly does the network tab? I can't be invaded cause some internet issue (or at least I begin to believe that), there can be some help in that way?

          BTW, thanks for your efforts!

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You can try unchecking NAT Traversal, but a big fix I've seen is to disable every network adapter on your PC besides the one you're connecting through. That fix worked for me

          [–]Susp 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I've only the connection I'm use, nothing to disable :(

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you open command prompt: "Cmd.exe" and then type "ipconfig /all" and send me the contents?

          [–]icdmize 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Using this with the low profile I can finally enjoy the game. Albeit not in all it's graphical wonder but just fine at 1440p. Thank you so much for your contribution!

          [–]bilago[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! Glad to see another success story, you're welcome :-D

          [–]Kraudi 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Really nice. Thank you. Will check out after I'm back home.

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! I hope you like it!

[–]ChinpokomanLikes to make stuff 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Are you editing configs alone, or other game files as well?

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Gamerprofile.xml is the only file that is touched, and a backup is created

[–]ChinpokomanLikes to make stuff 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thanks dude, looks like a great program. Gonna mess with it a little later on. :)

You're welcome! Let me know if you have any questions!

          [–]XXLpeanutsÏ?Ï‚ 3090 FE, i9 9900k, 32gb ram 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Something im trying to understand the programs option for texture quality and resoultion both only go up to high, which setting is ultra (as this brings stuttering) but i want high not medium textures, how do i set this?

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though in game, you see the word "Ultra", when selecting this option, it writes "high" in the configuration file

          [–]XXLpeanutsÏ?Ï‚ 3090 FE, i9 9900k, 32gb ram 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ok everyone should use this, i was playing at tweaked ultra settings ingame, but the game just didnt look as good as i had hoped, then i use this tool, the only settings i left the same were the texture (due to ultra stutters) and Geometry at medium as it seems to lag out my game while driving too, other than that everything is forced ultra, temporal smaa the best anyway, and it looks amazing, so much better than my "ultra" ingame settings, these are true ultra. Seriously guys try it, it lets you make the game look better while keeping the same performance.
For anyone going straight for the low preset, i would advise tweak it yourself, because the only settings that have any serious effect on my fps are the Textures and Geometry, all others can be whacked up with no effect other than amazing visuals.

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the help of a member on here, we tested each setting on high and low, and then from there built the low preset to reflect the best quality at the best FPS - which in turn lead us to what we have today as the preset. Most PC's should be able to handle more than this low, so I definitely encourage tweaking each setting individually and comparing your performance to find the ultimate setting! Once you find it, save it as a preset and you can share it with your friends or with us!

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You are a scholar and a gentleman, good sir!

          Thank you very much!

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're very welcome! Let me know if you have any questions!

          [–]PleaseStopPostingPls 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So, how many of these settings does the game recognise? Because a lot of the .ini settings are just stuff they didn't implement.

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not check them all, I know draw FPS isn't working but there are probably others too

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

In case anyone is wondering: Chrome is flagging this as malicious but it isn't really. It just happens to use the Process API to open links, which trips most malware detectors. It's perfectly harmless.

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the links are all Process.Start(); I think I need to get the exe signed as well , I heard that may help.

          will you reupload it?

          [–]bilago[S] 1 point2 points  (12 children)

Yes, I just got the notification now. I have no clue how this file hit 20GB bandwidth in one day... I need to find a new hosting solution, and also deal with the issue that no one is going to receive update notifications now.

          [–]PatrickJrÏ?Ï‚ 0 points1 point  (8 children)

          Try mega.co.nz <3

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I went ahead and got a paid account at mediafire, updating main post link now! Everyone will need to download this or updates will not work :(

          [–]PatrickJrÏ?Ï‚ 1 point2 points  (6 children)

D'aww should have used mega.co.nz <3 but it's your choice, can't wait to try this <3

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Let me know what you think!

          [–]PatrickJrÏ?Ï‚ 0 points1 point  (4 children)

It works wonders :3 easier to config, you should add options to remove hud elements! I like to do that from time to time to take nice screenshots!

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Hud elements are not defined in the setting file, I don't want this tool to start modifying game files. But I'm glad you like it so far! Next update will let you rebind keys and hopefully soon FOV

          [–]PatrickJrÏ?Ï‚ 0 points1 point  (2 children)

          They're in the GamerProfile.cfg

          UseCompassMiniMap="1" UseRoadSignHilight="1" UseSubtitles="1" UseReticle="1" UseWaypoint="1" UseHintsAndTutorial="1" UsePdaNotification="1" UseMinimap="1" UseDynamicMission="1" UseItemAndRewards="1" UseMissionUpdate="1" UseFelony="1" UseEquipmentAndTools="1"

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Most of those are already in the config tool, I can add the rest

          [–]CodeVertex 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That is the success man :P

          [–]bilago[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

haha right? New link will be in First post in a second

          [–]CodeVertex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          Thank you man! Amazing work!

I've been working very hard on adding controller/keybind support. I finally got keyboard working but I would like some volunteer testers to try it out and see how it works.

Again, only download this if you want to test. For normal users just grab the main download from the first post. Thanks!

Do I put the exe in the Watch Dogs folder to make it work? I think I need a different .net framework thingy :/

          [–]bal3wolf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          any folder works.

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You need .net 4, and you can put this anywhere on your PC

          [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I'll try it soon. Good job :)

im testing the build with controller/keybind support you need to add up down left right they are missing and would be nice if more mouse buttons could be used, And on the theworse mod it would be nice to have a install and remove button thanks a ton for this tho great work.

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

The issue with adding more keys is that ubisoft is using crc32b hash algorithms based on the name of the key... like mouse1 or up or backspace ... so figuring out which word they used to represent each mouse key is proving to be difficult

          [–]bal3wolf1 0 points1 point  (2 children)

well i set my keys up down left right and then checked the profile and copyed them then saved to the profile your program outputs but if i load it with your program its corrupted.

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I will need to add those keys to the program. I'll reply with a new update.

          Greetings,

I wanted to know if i can combine TheWorse "mod" with this tool and if it's usefull in terms of quality/framerate? Thanks

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can. My Beta version of this tool has TheWorse mod as a new tab. You just shouldn't set the quality = ultra like his instructions, because that will make the game bypass any XML settings we create.

          [–]Deamonblade 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Can someone help me? I run the program and it says that the GamerProfile is not formated corectly.

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Before you follow these steps, if you are using any modified XML file from TheWorse or Kadz or any other person, thats why you cant run the config utility. If you want to keep those mods, do not follow the steps below.

Do these steps (if you're not using any mods):

          1. Locate your gamerProfile at: Documents\My Games\Watch_Dogs\gamerID\Gamerprofile.xml and delete it.

          2. Start Up Watch Dogs and choose "Custom" graphic settings. Save the changes and then quit the game from the main menu.

          3. Start up the configuration tool. It should work fine now. If it doesn't, please upload a copy of your XML and send it to me to analyze.

Thanks a lot! Worked. My FPS was upgraded altho now I'm just gonna get some more ram to make it perfect.

I'd be appreciative if you added 2700 as a Xres option. I run an odd resolution, but would love to utilize your tool. (It works fabulously if I go edit the xml after using the tool to set the other setting!)

Does this not work with the new DLC/Patch? When I set the settings with it all I get is a black screen when I launch the game, only sound. I do get "Unhandled exception has occurred" when I open the app though.

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I stopped development on this a few months ago since there were so many mods being released with too much drama between them.

          [–]HillanatorOfState 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ahh man, to bad, seems like ti worked well...

          [–]bilago[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It was superceeded by the mods released by kadz and theworse, making this program work with all flavors would have been a full time job.

          [–]HillanatorOfState 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          kadz

          Ahh ok, thanks anyways!

Just wanted to say this till works wonders. I helped worth the low preset option and its a great comprise. You still get a seventh looking game at a higher fps!

Refresh rates set to greater than 100 in profile, prevent your tool from reading most of the other settings. For example my pc supports a refresh rate of 144, and most of the boxes where empty when i opened your tool. After i manually changed the refresh rate in profile to 60, the tool launched correctly.

          [–]bilago[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is updated now to support up to 200hz

          [–]bilago[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only added up to 100, let me put up to 200 and that will fix it

I couldn't login to uplay after using this. It says internet problem but was working fine a few moments ago. Idk, something's probably wrong with my net.

This tool does not mess with uPlay, there is zero correlation between the two
