Mistlands sucks by formerlyturdfurgie in valheim

[–]v1sibleninja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I don’t mind the Mistlands themselves. I think the terrain and mist are cool, but the problem is combining the awful terrain with the limiting combat style of the game. If the enemy has the high ground, all of your melee hits will miss. If you have the high ground all but spear melee hits will miss. I’m constantly finding myself at 0 stamina in fights with more than 1 enemy because I’m constantly whiffing or sliding around on the terrain unable to recover stamina. Combat needs a rework, or at least make the hitboxes more generous to accommodate the very limited attack animations.

Biden Signs Respect for Marriage Act. by King-of-New-York in pics

[–]v1sibleninja 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, Henry VIII broke with the Roman Catholic Church because he wanted to divorce his first wife and the pope said no. So he made himself head of the Church of England and divorced her because she failed to produce a male heir. Later he would have his second wife executed. His 3rd wife died after childbirth complications. He divorced his 4th wife, executed his 5th, and his 6th wife survived him. So “tradition” is not really a good look for the royal family when it comes to marriage and divorce.

Biden administration weighs Ukrainian requests for access to US stockpile of controversial cluster munitions by Beckles28nz in worldnews

[–]v1sibleninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Russia is already using cluster munitions. They’re also bombing hospitals, raping, killing civilians, and attacking civilian infrastructure, among other heinous acts and war crimes. I feel like the illegality/morality of supplying Ukraine with cluster bombs is of low ethical priority right now.

I didn’t know outlet switches were a thing until visiting the UK recently. I was on board with the idea, until my gf accidentally switched off the refrigerator on our way out the door…

This game is really focused on winning, it's incredible by nevinirral in MagicArena

[–]v1sibleninja -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, except I recently sold a handful of old rares for almost $600, considerably more than I spent on cards back in the 90s when I was playing paper magic regularly. I can’t resell digital cards, so what exactly is the incentive to buy packs on arena? Especially with alchemy being a thing, they can just tweak cards as they see fit.

Unfinished games are the new standard and I’m fucking sick of it. by crazythumper7 in gaming

I don’t think I’ve ever played a game with better performance capture. That combined with how beautiful the game looks, you can really immerse yourself in the story.

Horror movie Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey to get big-screen release by groovygirl858 in entertainment

[–]v1sibleninja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Disney on Ice. As recently as 2019 Winnie the Pooh was not allowed to appear in any of our shows performed in China. I did not return to performing for them post Covid so I do not know if that is still the case.

People (in China) made fun of Xi for looking like Pooh, so Xi bans Pooh from China, so people make fun of him for it even more. It’s not racist.

They were clearly being sarcastic. Not defending the behavior of hand feeding wild animals, but their argument isn’t exactly wrong. Overpopulation of deer is a huge problem in large parts of the US and Ireland, and I’m sure other places as well, to the point where hunters have to gather every year and cull the population in specific areas to help reduce the spread of diseases, and the devastation of vegetation. So yes, feeding wild animals is bad because it can inadvertently train them to be a nuisance animal, but deer already are a nuisance, so while you still shouldn’t do it, the harm of doing so is pretty negligible.

Japan in December by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]v1sibleninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuji is inaccessible in the winter. I don’t think you’ll have any luck finding a guide, let alone finding an accessible route to the base of the mountain as there is zero demand for it that time of year. I’ve also heard avalanche risk is super high and a primary reason winter ascents are just not done.

Their front legs are shorter than their back legs though, so if you must run, run downhill. If the incline is steep enough the bear will have to zig-zag its way down.

Just don’t make me think for you on a Friday or Saturday night when I’ve got a bar full of people trying to order drinks and we’re good. I don’t mind playing mixologist when I have the time because it helps me be better at my job and it gets me better tips…usually.

My dude/dudette, this is not a hard concept to grasp. If someone says water, they get tap water, if someone says bottled, they don’t get tap water.

Nah. I’m a bartender. I regularly get customers asking for margaritas with high end tequila. The only time I upsell is on doubles, shots, or off menu cocktails when the guest decides it’s my job to figure out what they’d like to drink.

Them: I’d like a bottled water.

Me: Ours comes in a can, is that ok?

Them: Yes.

Scene.

I’m not charging them for something they didn’t order.

We used to sell it in my bar, every time a customer ordered water they thought I was an idiot serving them some canned cocktail or something.
