I'm aware it was after the manga, but it's clear that the people got hooked with the writing and not only the animation, otherwise they wouldn't buy a manga that offers a downgrade in art quality and only continues the story.
One piece having sales record doesn't make it superior either. I do think one piece is a way better series, but it would still be a way better series even if it sold like shit. (the records they broke were not 2 decades old either, OP was still the best selling manga in 2019)

The best and most popular are different things, Kimetsu just has very wide appeal, it's fairly short unlike one piece, has simple and teen friendly themes unlike stuff like AOT on top of the great production value.
Becoming the most popular shonen is not about being the best, but attracting the most amount of people, even if those people think it's a 6/10, as long as they watch it you're still more popular.
You shouldn't give ufotable all the credit either, the manga sold like crazy by itself, which is why they gave the adaptation to ufotable in the first place. It was the first manga series to beat one piece in sold volumes for one year since the early 2000s.

There's two attackers here, and they have range advantage. Ali would just get spammed, you dodge a swing and another comes your way, you dodge that one and the other dude is starting the next.
If even after all that he manages to close distance the bat can still be used defensively, it can be used to strike with the bottom, and you still need to knock out pretty heavy dudes on top of that.
He was a great fighter, but fighting one unarmed opponent in a sport with rules is very different to fighting two, armed and with 0 rules. Just flanking him and attacking from two sides already changes the situation completely, dodging becomes pretty hard when you can only see half of your opponents at the same time.

LoL gets hate because you get toxicity while actually playing the game and it was (and I think still is, though Riot has at least pretended to try for years now) fairly under-moderated even by online game standards, leading to an especially toxic community.
Riot is not shy when it comes to punishing flaming, as long as people report you a few games is enough to get a temporary chat ban (you can only talk a few sentences in each game) and if you keep at it they'll ban you, at first temporary and forever if you don't stop.
The thing with league as opposed to other games is that the format of a moba makes toxicity more impactful (and league is just the most popular moba).
Once you enter a game with a toxic player you're locked with them for 30+ minutes, and your performance as a team suffers from it. Other multiplayer games have shorter games or performance less connected to other players so if your teammate decides to be an asshole is either just an asshole for a few minutes or you can ignore them and try to do your own thing.
