My homie in college told me a great life story, and I always think about it when people talk about McDaniel:
Throughout high school and for most of college, people always called him weird, quirky, would always try to hook him up with nerdy or eccentric girls. He didn't get it and he hated it. Then summer after soph. year he got Lasic. Everything changed overnight. He didn't change the way he dressed, didn't change the way he acted. But suddenly he stopped being the weird guy. He thinks people thought he was weird because he always wore big thick framed glasses with thick lenses.
I think that's what's going on here, lol.
I've got a similar story. I had the same classmates basically from 7th through 12th grade. Girls are of course vicious during middle school, so they mainly talked to me to make fun of me in large groups, but in smaller groups they laughed at my jokes and stuff. If any of them were caught talking to me they'd be accused of liking me and go "eww" before making fun of me.
I wore these coke bottle glasses and had braces and had zero fashion sense. I wore what would keep me warm and didn't care if I wore the same ugly pull over every day during winter. There were two exceptions of girls that were just nice to me.
Fast forward to 9th grade second semester. I get contacts, lose the braces and get all new clothes for Christmas. I roll into class the first day of the semester and one of the girls stops me and goes
Girl: "Who are you?"
Me: "I'm Inner-Dentist1563, what do you mean?"
Girl: "No, no, no. You're hot and I've definitely never met you before."
She was clearly doing it for effect, but all of a sudden these same girls were all super nice to me and wanted to be in my group for projects and invited me to parties and stuff. Every since that day I never made fun of those moments in movies where the nerdy girl turns hot by changing their clothes and taking off their glasses.
The problem is.. what about those of us that are hourly?
This is specifically for hourly people. This doesn't affect salaried people. This mostly just adjusts when you start getting overtime pay.

Except it's not. This conversation has been had on Reddit far too many times and too much evidence has been presented to the contrary at this point. Employers will cut your hours and hire more people so they don't have to ever pay time and a half. See the ACA for further proof.
