I love being nice to guests thinking our customer base is inherently good…lol
Couple weeks ago guy comes in and asks if we have any Wii games, I show him the small section and goes and takes a gander.
He comments how he’s impressed we had some of the games that we had but mentioned he didn’t really “need” any of them for his collection, what he needed was the manual of Mario Galaxy 2 specifically to make his copy “Complete in Box”
As a collector I completely understand and thinking he was a genuine dude I gave the go ahead to grab the manual free of charge. First mistake. (Obviously nothing stopping him from buying the game and taking the manual then returning the game, just saves me more time if he thought about that or not)
He then asks me for another manual out of another game, pushing it I say sure, why not. Second mistake. He then continues and says can I just look through and grab any I need, I say no this time just because I’d like to leave some complete Wii games for other people. He accepts that and then leaves the store after saying thank you.
Fast forward to today, less than 15 minutes ago. I’m helping 3 or 4 guests in line. A Series S trade and few normal purchases. I see him walk in and he waves at me while I’m working, didn’t recognize him at first.
After I finish up my transactions and start giving the cash to the Series S guy, I see him steadily exiting the store with a stack of manuals in his hand, specifically Wii Sports Resort, which we do have in stock.
I’ve since printed the DVR footage of him and he is banned from my store. I get that no monetary value was lost from GameStop, but my kindness was abused and I won’t tolerate it.
