  • No, there’s no cost to use Brave News. In the future, we’ll also offer a paid, ad-free version.
  • Yes. Brave News is available on desktop (Windows, macOS, and Linux) and mobile devices (Android and iOS)
  • News feeds are available from more than 300 major media outlets and content sources, in categories across global news, business and finance, sports, fashion, lifestyle, entertainment, crypto news, and more. For a full list, open a tab in the Brave browser and click Customize. You can also add RSS feeds from your favorite bloggers, local newspapers, special interest magazines, and any source that publishes content using RSS.
  • Brave News is curated in a few ways, including by the publication date of the content, and your self-selected preferences. Brave News can also curate based on your browsing history, but this is done anonymously, and only on your device. Neither your browsing history nor your feed activity is tracked by Brave (or anyone else) in any way.

You have the option to add or disable sources—just click Customize in the browser tab. If you don’t see a source, check for publicly available RSS feeds, which will give you even more control over what you see in your feed.

  • Brave News—like the Brave Browser—puts privacy first. Brave collects zero info about you, your searches, or the websites you visit.

Specifically, your Brave News feed is collected using a new, private content delivery network (CDN). This CDN knows nothing about you, what you follow, or what you read. There is no data trail available for anyone to capture or track, including us at Brave. The Brave News reader ranks stories locally (meaning only on your device), and uses an anonymous algorithm that weighs several factors, including your browser history and article date. It’s designed to help you discover interesting new content throughout the day while still respecting your privacy. All the learning and personalization happens exclusively on your browser. Brave neither sees nor stores your browsing data—it stays private, on your devices, until you delete it. It’s impossible for Brave to sell or lose your data, because it’s not collected in the first place.

  • Brave News is supported by the Brave Ads network. In your feed, you may see exclusive offers from partners in this network. All ads are anonymous, privacy-preserving, and clearly labeled. Soon, you’ll have options to control the offers and promoted content. We’ll also have an option for paid, ad-free news feeds. Ads are delivered to your browser using Brave’s private ad delivery platform, an anonymous accounting process to confirm ad event activity (like clicks), keep personal details private, and ensure Brave Rewards earnings.
  • Brave News is supported by two new resources: Brave Offers and Promoted Content. Brave Offers introduces a new e-commerce option for partners, and provides users with a new highly curated shopping experience with a variety of daily deals, technology, and lifestyle products from across the web. Daily deals, exclusive discounts, and offers from affiliate partners from our new Brave Offers store will be featured in the Brave News feed. Promoted Content is the latest addition to Brave Ads. It provides brands and media partners with a new unit to promote relevant content seamlessly to Brave News readers. Promoted Content from brands and media partners will flow seamlessly within the Brave News experience and provide readers with relevant content they might not otherwise discover.

When a user clicks a link in Brave News, the Brave browser fetches directly from the source of the content, so publishers maintain their relationships with readers on their own sites, instead of being forced through a redirect (as news.google.com does), or compelled to publish through Google’s AMP proxy (for mobile now, all devices soon) or another proprietary proxy. These redirects and proxies track users and degrade publisher brand value and direct reader-publisher relationships. Users of Brave Rewards already have options for directly supporting verified publishers both automatically and via tipping BAT.
